I know it's more initial outlay for an eco tank printer, but the printing costs are very much cheaper than an inkjet cartridge printer, and you can use third party inks without a problem.
Other than laser printing, you won't find a more cost effective way of home printing. (edited)

Yeah, fantastic printers. I used one at work, printing was part of the business, and only had to fill it up every few months. Considering it was used daily in that time, I thought it was fantastic.

I bought one of these in the last warehouse sale and the heads were worn out. It had printed over 8500 pages and was 18 months old (you can print the usage status). I complained to Amazon CS why they were selling faulty goods and sent it back.

    How do you print that?

Look at the details of the printer, seems to be a lot of scratches (although doesn't impact function) but also missing a cateridge (doesn't specify how many missing).

It does not use cartridges, you fill the tanks with ink bottles? It may mean it doesn't come filled with ink, mine was a refurb and had a few minor scratches, but worked perfectly and came filled.

I have order one my self not sure how good or bad this things are as this is first time I am moving to tank. This is for kid for school use whose use is light and mostly b&w but occasionally she wants color but good quality so I was not 100 sure to go with laser color as they are not always good for color unless you pay a lot

I'm kind of the same boat apart from we have a B&W laser but need scanner and good colour. Thanks for posting but I noped out as I decided multi page scanner was key and the reviews were that the colour prints were a little off from the original image.

Just adding my experience , got it delivered today,
the description of usage and condition is useless ,
I ordered one similar , didn’t say anything about the actual printer being used, only said the problems were scratches , missing cds , missing manual .
It came used and full of ink ?
When it arrived, it clearly has been used, tanks with various levels of ink inside.

The  thing is with these tanks when they have been previously used  ink ,
you don’t know how long they have been stood for , unused in the warehouse

correct me if I’m wrong but these need to have a full print once every month or so,
and some printers need to be kept on 24/7 , like a standby
Not to mention not knowing what actual ink is in the tanks ,
could be sublimation ink, normal ink, cheap ink etc.

these could be expensive fixes , ruin items or just break ,

I rang amazon and they apologised, but nothing else .
They didn’t seem to understand that I bought  wasn’t actually described correctly
so just be wary , waiting to send it back Monday, and then the wait for a refund. Disappointed, but that’s the gamble I guess with stuff like this.
    And lessons learnt .

Thanks for sharing your experience. I also ordered and received a similar ecotank with filled in ink. However the status page says it has only done 12 prints and first printed in January. The ink tanks are full and I had to clear print head a few times for it to pass the nozzle check but appears to work fine now. Perhaps something you’d want to check for yours?

I was concerned about head blockages but so far it has had no problems even when left alone for a couple of weeks.

My very old HP I could leave months and get a good output first time but I would recommend you do print something every few weeks with these.

I got a 3850 from warehouse deals a few years back for £165. Had no ink and as not stated, got another £20 off. It has been brilliant and the ink is inexpensive. Printed 1000s of pages and still on first bottles. Would love the photo version but over £500

The maths in this review doesn't work out.. if it's only £2.04 to run for the year, then divide by 12 it's 17p per month (for 30 pages) which then makes it £1.70 per month for 300 pages... So why on earth would the monthly plan (starts from £7.99 per month) benefit someone who printed 300 or more pages? At the stated cheap price to run, it would only cost you £6.80 per month to run if you printed 1200 pages per month! So, something is very fishy, or I've misunderstood something about their price claims?

In addition, the monthly plan has to be activated (£80!) making it even worse value (edited)

I live my colour laser printer with scanner. Would never look back, 8 years on and still going strong. Don't have to worry about cleaning nozzles, ink drying or anything. Boom.

Yeah, I'm holding out for a colour laser with scanning from a manufacturer that isn't HP.

Does AirPrint work on these? Seen mixed reviews.

Hard to answer that - unless someone has both.
I have the HP Smart Tank 7005. The printing is excellent (I'm guessing this is too); but the customer service is brilliant - whereas I've heard Epson customer service is like sticking your head in a bucket of manure

Any advantage over cheap old laser printer ?
    villageidiotdan's avatar

It's colour with scanner, equivelant laser would be £200ish I believe. No idea if the tank refill thing works out as cheap than a laser. One of it's selling points (that a cheap inkjet prints better colour than a cheap laser) is negated by being a bit pants in that area also.

My 2810 has lasted 13 months still got well over 50% of the original ink left and Epson want £132 to repair it, only cost £140 originally terrible customer service.

My ET2810 doesn’t have auto double side printing. Not sure is this one has it.
    vulcanproject's avatar
    vulcanproject
It does have automatic duplexing. It's the lowest end Ecotank that has it I believe.

Is anyone doing high quality or photo prints with non official inks with this?

    Any recommendations?

I know this is expired, but I just want to check if anybody ordered and what condition was this received in. Checking because I’m hoping to order a different printer from Amazon warehouse and wondering if it’s worth the hassle.
