i was all set to buy this earlier in the year until i realised that my ryobi circular saw has the indent in the baseplate to run on the track. in the end i made my own sawguide with an offcut from an 8 x 4 sheet and a 6 x 12 (from memory) steel strip i bought online. just used it to get a uniform edge on my decking and it worked a treat.

Cordless but most of the photos of it in use has a vacuum pipe attached. So long for cordless (edited)

Looks decent especially as I'm in the Ryobi ecosystem.

Question from me, how easy is it to buy extra track?

My current not so accurate but gives reasonable results approach is, clamp as long a piece of wood as I need to the thing I'm cutting and hope the piece of wood is straight...

I think Ryobi uses its own track system...

If this deal cames two weeks earlier i think i might still get this one, superb price for a cordless saw + 2*0.7m tracks, ideal if you don't do any thing longer.

However I was then tempted to watch 10 minute workshop and set my mind on the Bosch FSN system. The bosch circular saw also works well on Bosch FSN rail like a track saw. (of course i took the plunge at the end, ebay paypal 10 month smooths out all the inital cost for me)

I was set to buy this as soon as it was released in the UK to upgrade my existing but after watching US reviews has put me off. Unless the UK version is different I think I'll go for the makita and purchase a couple of battery's and a charger.
