    Please remember that companies issuing extra credit on their own gift cards are trying to raise capital cheaply. This is great if you want to use the gift card imminently, but it can also mean the company is short of liquid capital and at risk. There is no protection for your money - you are an unsecured creditor. Handle with care.

    You say this on every gift card deal but provide no context. Yes, theoretically you are correct but the amount also matters. If a company is in trouble, then selling an extra £1-2Mn in gift cards is not going to do anything for it - let's not forget that only people with extra cash can buy gift cards and massive amounts don't get sold during these limited period offers.

    Nero has run this offer twice a year for at least the last 7-8 years and they are still around. You made the same comment about the Uber card deal last week - you think a £3Bn revenue company (just the UK bit, $32Bn global) can be saved by selling £5Mn of discounted gift cards over 2 days?

    Companies issue these deals because people holding a gift card tend to spend more than they planned and do it in a lesser time period. Similar to the phenomenon where Prime subscribers spend 40% more than those without. Or gift cards expire and the issuer gets free money.

    I agree with your point about using the gift cards and not have them lying around unused but don't agree with the scare mongering.

    Buying coffee at Caffe Nero is complicated for me just now. Bring own cup for extra stamp, use Meerkat app for discount, scan app to get stamps then pay with Barclaycard for cashback.

    You can make it a bit simpler.
    If you enter your Barclaycard details into the Nero app, the stamps get added automatically when you pay via the app.

    just paid. received email but cannot link it into my nero account. So i understand i have to show 1st and then 2nd gift card each time at store.
    I honestly thought i would be able to "topup" my Nero account.
    still a good deal as of £5 so 5 free coffes.

    Annoyingly, it's still not possible to store a Nero gift card as payment method in the app.
    A future app upgrade they need to make asap!
    Until then, you'll need a handy screenshot of each gift card to use as payment in store. (edited)

    Too bad any credit card cashback offers won't work as the actual seller of the card is Cashstar. Unlike Costa.

    Nope. The card is not actually sold by Nero directly and any Nero cashback offers don't work.

    I can never get on with these Nero offers. Every time I try to use them it's a pain. First I have to bring up the app to collect my points , then shut it and bring up my email to find the gift card, then open it up....then have to sign in for it to bring up the code to scan. Don't like it . Costa works much better, and faster.

    I always get their Frappe drinks and add 1 shot of coffee to it (+50p extra charge). It used to all be £1 in total for their drink but they just recently changed it so any add-ons you pay. So now I have to pay £1.50 for my frappe (£1 + 50p with extra shot of coffee added in). I mean £1.50 still worth it, but damn slightly annoyed that they did this (edited)

    it’s also members week so you get double stamps on drinks. with this offer and two 3+ stamps it’s effectively £1.60 for two drinks and 4/9 of the way towards a free one. Bit more attractive than one £3.80 latte at Costa
