About this deal

*Disclaimer - other countries may be even cheaper!

This might have been posted before but someone at my work put me onto this and i thought great idea to post back in here again for others who weren't aware like me.

You are able to sign up for youtube premium on a vpn in another country for substantially less than UK premium price. I tried a few different countries and the cheapest I found was Paskitan which with the current exchange rate of PKR to GBP works out at £1.32 as opposed to the £11.99.

1. I added my Monzo account to my Google account payment methods

2. I signed into a vpn for Pakistan (free vpn apps are in ambundence from app stores)

3. Login to youtube in incognito mode and sign in to your YouTube account with the linked Google payment account.

4. Sign up for premium at 479PKR (£1.32). Add a random address in Pakistan (Google is easy to find examples)

5. Authenticate through Monzo that it's you (I had trouble with my HSBC account at this point which is when I tried Monzo with success)

6. Premium subscription successful!

If you want to purchase Family plan, You need to add other members using the Gmail you newly created BEFORE adding any payments and Pakistani address to it or buying YouTube family.

Edit:
1. Log into the newly created Gmail without VPN.
2. Go to Google Account settings>People and Sharing,
3. Start a family group & send out your invites.
4. Accept the invites from accounts you just invite.

Only now can you go to Payment settings and enter your payment info and Pakistani address.

Interesting. I might have to look in to that because I paid for a year of Deezer via OlduBil earlier in the year but now since the recent changes, OlduBil won't be able to continue next year.

    Been doing this for years.

Honestly feels weird when someone shows me a YT video and it has ads. YT without ads is absolutely brilliant. I don't even use the other features like YT music
    sheffield788's avatar
You can use YouTube without adds via Brave browser. I have it in my phone, with YT as the main page.

This is how I did it, hopefully it might help anyone who's struggling, the instructions were not very clear IMO.

    1. downloaded urban vpn, free version
    2. using urban vpn, connected vpn using Pakistan location
    3. opened google chrome in incognito mode
    4. logged into Gmail account (NOTE: either create new account before step 1 or use existing email gmail - I had an existing one from before that was not used much)
    5. created new profile, using Pakistan address as follows
    6. added a new payment method, using Revolut (virtual card) account and same Pakistan address
    7. the app will prompt on your mobile for authorization. Presuming you have the Revolut App, if not, get this sorted before step 1
    8. opened youtube.com, in another tab, still in incognito mode
    9. selected YouTube premium option from left hand side
    10. message box pops up, with payment method pre-populated. Select ok/submit to proceed with this plan
    11. close all incognito tab/windows
    12. turned off VPN, so back to using UK IP address
    13. accessed youtube.com from normal chrome window
    14. Test the premium account. One option is to click on your initial, top right, then 'purchases and memberships.
It will show your membership as premium (edited)

For those on android who mainly use YouTube on their phone, worth looking up YouTube vanced which is a third party apk that blocks add, can skip video intros and sponsor segments etc. It's free to use and let's you play videos while locked.
    Protoype's avatar
    Don't forget NewPipe, newpipe.net/
Same deal as Vanced, just a different way to do it and open source.

    - On Android phone/tablet, you can use
YouTube ReVanced ,is basically YouTube premium with zero adverts and many extra customisable settings options.

    From
    revanced.io/You…be/
    1. Download and install microG APK.

    2. Download and install YouTube revanced APK ( General).

(microgG must be installed first else it won't work), follow the guide in above link.

I have been using it for many months, with no issues.

    !If you hate YouTube shorts and don't want to see it in the feeds, from YouTube revanced setting do as follows;
    - tap Settings
    - tap ReVanced
    - tap Layouts
    - scroll down right to the bottom and tap
    - Short components
    - Tap Hide Shorts in Feed
Restart and bobs is your uncle
    -----------------------------------
    - Newpipe is also a another good app, it has options to download the videos/music files to play offline.

    1. Download Fdroid APK f-droid.org/
    2. In the store , search for New pipe and install.

Enjoy with out spending a dime

Just for your information Google is valued at $1,658,000,000,000, 4th richest company in the world. Like most tech giants they conned their way through the tax system.

Cheers, got it to work. Good to be back on Youtube revanced after it was banned for a while. Was happy with brave and skipping the advisement segments myself, this saves the hassle (edited)

This worked great for me. Though all the YouTube Music suggested playlists are from that country. Haven't found a way to fix that yet
    Conkers816's avatar
The trick for doing that is to be very pro-active with the app. Search for stuff you like, add playlists to your library, use the thumbs up/thumbs down features e.t.c.

Do that often enough and the algorithm will learn. I've had mine through Argentina for the last 3 or 4 years and I haven't seen a single Argentinian playlist in years.
  7. deleted2810965's avatar
I’m using this method since last time posted, the only downside is that it defaults home to some local pakistani videos.(music/ films) not sure if I can change that or not?
    Rob_Deeley's avatar
Best to sign up with a new Gmail. Set up a family plan with that. Then, add your main email to that family plan.
  8. TheMagus's avatar
For those who have issues with adding family members, I think the solution is to delete the Pakistan payment profile and create a UK one on the fake account. Then your main UK account can invite the Pakistan account to the family, with the Pak one sharing the content, ie su scription.

It worked for me on a Turkey Google one subscription.

Get Google One Premium for ~15$€ without changing account Region
So I had to renew my Google One Subscription but can't change the region of my main account for obvious reasons (1 year lock to new region). As I couldn't find a guide which did not involve changing regions here is my Guide
    • use any free vpn, connect to Turkey VPN and open a fresh clean browser to one.google.com/abo…ans and select whatever plan you need, I selected yearly 2TB for 289 TYR (~15 €/$ for a year)
    • create new account and put in a phone number and CC details, both do not have to be from Turkey
    • Go through process until you see your 1 year plan is active
    • Go to main account and invite the new account to your family via fam…ies.google.com/fam…ies
    • Both your main and new account need to be from the same country so lets fix that. Select browser of new fake account. Open pay.google.com go to Settings, Payment profiles, create a new payment profile which matches your home country. Input any fake address. Select Turkey payment profile and delete it (bottom of the page)
    • Congratulation on your relocation. Open gmail.com with your fake account, accept the family invite
    • Open one.google.com/ on your fake account, click the settings wheel on the top right, turn on family sharing
    • Done. You can close everything relating to the fake account. When you log into your main you will see the active subscription and all features will be active.

This way your UK account is still the head of the Google Family Group while other family members benefit of the others' subscriptions, in this instance Turkey/Pakistan accounts.

This is limited by how many members a Google family group can have, I think it's 6.

Also you could have a Turkey Google One and a Pakistan Youtube subscription at the same time. (edited)

How do you get this to work for family plans? I shared the invite link to a relative but they got an error message saying they’re not in the same country so can’t work?? But she was in the same country??? And same thing with vpn apparently? Any advice is much appreciated
    Southey's avatar
You add them using the Gmail you newly created BEFORE adding any payments and Pakistani address to it or buying YouTube family.

    Edit:

(edited)

Just save your money and sign in to Albania on a VPN. Honestly, trying to pay via another country is a waste of time. I get no adverts at all and you can do it on all devices including fire stick and smart TV
    malct1's avatar
YouTube doesn't play adverts in that country plus 2 other countries.

Thanks OP. Setup a family plan using the linked guide:

    hotukdeals.com/comments/permalink/51652309

    - Setup Urban VPN as an extension in private tab in Firefox (you will have to accept a check box for this to work on private browser tabs)
    - Used a pre-existing Google account
    - Made sure to add accounts to the family plan prior to signing up for YouTube premium
    - Setup a Revolut card
    - Added that payment card to the Google account
    - Signed into YouTube (making sure VPN still connected)
    - Finally, I setup a standing order from my bank for £3 per month into my revolut account to ensure the monthly fee would be covered.

I just got so fed up with having to jump through hoops for an ad-free service. I do still use YouTube vanced on android, but for the sake of £2.50/mo I can now use my main linked YouTube account to the family plan and it just works with no ads on any device. It's worked perfectly on Sky, SmartTV, PS5, Xbox Series X, Switch etc.

Worked a treat, thanks for posting! (edited)

I guess if you're using one of you Family slots with your primary account, and Google suddenly shut the door, ban the 'foreign' account or whatever, then the primary account would still be alright? This is my biggest concern, I cannot under any circumstances, really afford to lose my primary account...

I have this enabled, and it works well. But i've now noticed that if i goto the Play Store, i only get apps for India and not the UK. Anyone else have this problem? For example, i cannot download the Just give Blood UK app, as it's "not avalabile for your country".
    D3ano's avatar
I think i've worked it out. By adding another account to the Play Store, one that is in the UK, you can download apps using that account.

    Brave.

    End.
    matt3454's avatar
Not really, it's a lot easier just to have cheap premium.

Means I have no ads on my TV, Xbox, phone, pc, tablet, Google home.

I'd love to figure out the amount of money I've saved by my 6 year old being logged in to premium as kids usually get bombarded by ads for naff toys.

Then I also get the music in my car, on my phones, on my smart speakers.

Well worth the quid or so a month.
  18. nikicallan's avatar
I think I was under 40p last month as I pay in Argentinian pesos. Google keep upping the price but they can't keep up with how fast the peso is devaluing. Been getting away with it for years now. Keep thinking they'll eventually close the loophole but so far so good.
    Teo_Narl's avatar
Argentina price will change from 24th of December and it is almost double the Pakistan price. Switching is super easy, you don't even need to wait for your billing period to end. You just cancel, turn on VPN, renew.

Can't post it as a deal, but if anyone is interest then you can get a 12 month voucher for Spotify from e-knee-bah for about £13 quid.

Chose Ultimate Choice on the main voucher page. Redeem via VPN. Job done.

Anyone know of a way to get Tidal cheap? I was buying through Argentina but somethings gone wrong with cards etc.
  22. Dobow2's avatar
I've got my family plan through Turkey. The family price is about to jump to 115.99₺ (£3.16) a month. Argentina's family price looks like it will go up to 1569ARS (£3.40). Pakistan at 899 is ~£2.50.

Any other better options? I used to have India before Turkey but when they messed with accounts last year it made paying hard. (edited)

My paid VPN didn't have PAK, so used Urban.
New G acct. Added Revolut with PAK address. Or should I use UK address in Wallet?
  25. cossy3's avatar
Guys - this is how you do it. Ukraine though so more expensive than India etc.

    1. You need to VPN to Ukraine.

    2. You need to delete your existing payment profile (last tab in settings) then scroll to the bottom and click on delete.

    3. Then you need to put in your UK card details and a Ukraine address (just google any hotel). It will then add your card and you should be able to purchase premium (edited)

Really? I have a family subscription plan from Turkey. Do not scare me
  28. Conkers816's avatar
So if I want to listen to music on my phone, as I often do, I now have to find my vpn, start that and select the appropriate country. Then I have to minimise that and only then can I start YouTube music to play something.

    OR

I have to start my mobile browser with, I assume, an adblocking extension installed (because adblocking is free right?), and then go to the Youtube website. I then choose the music option and then find something to play.

And all of this messing around just to save paying what amounts to the shrapnel in your pocket each month ?
    Sham_Ahmed's avatar
Erm no. The VPN is only needed for the sign up process.
  29. andy182's avatar
Ukrainian works easily. £3 for family I can live with
    malky39's avatar
What VPN did you use. I seen elsewhere you could use tunnel bear through Moldova and it gave Ukrainian prices. However when I tried it did bring up Ukrainian YouTube but when I went to the premium section and when I clicked on it was saying this isn't available in your country.

Revisited this today and once again spent hours on it to no avail. The thing is I have got the family plan setup and working fine but cannot add the the other accounts. As many have posted that's not possible after the fact, ok I get that but surely I could set up a couple of Indian secondary accounts (where my family account is) them add them without getting the warning. In understand that I'll have to add followed channels and music etc but that has to be easier than spending even more hours on this

Edit: so turns out my dumbass VPN although pointing to India actually points to the US when you run IP check! Used the free one in this thread and boom worked first time! Honestly hours wasted to a VPN error. VPN unlimited is the culprit in case anyone else gets this. (edited)
  32. Dal22's avatar
Pakistan and India wouldn't work for me at all - tried a good few things, just couldn't make it work.
Ukraine worked first time. so it's about £3 a month (a bit more) but it actually works.
