About this deal

Huge shout out to for this. My free premium trial expired earlier today and I was reluctant to pay £64.99 for the year. After a quick search, i came across a deal from September which required a VPN. Luckily went to the comments and came across a quick step by step method by entrance to getting premium without the use of a VPN.

Step 1,
Headover to myfitnesspal.com/user/edit * Change your country to Turkey & Istanbul.

Step 2,
Then head to Premium myfitnesspal.com/premium/ *
Make sure the price is 129.99 Try. (which currently works out at £3.39)
Revolut worked (monzo in my case)

Step 3,
Change Country back to thr UK, and accept the two Data Breach tick boxes. haveibeenpwned.com/PwnedWebsites *

Your premium will have to be expired to do this. I
Hope this helps out fellow app users.

Also just worth double checking if your employer offers gympass.
If they do then premium is included in the free tier (edited)

Thankyou. It is on there. Gympass is such good value if you only use the one gym. Only £7.99 a month for me

Thanks, great deal. I've just done it and left the location as Turkey as it doesn't seem to make any difference to the user experience.

You're welcome and good to know. Wasn't sure myself if it did or not in regards to the location.

Check out cronometer. Has premium version but many prefer the free version compared to myfitnesspal as more feature rich. Also has free barcode scanner.
  4. clarkydpimp's avatar
Don't understand why people even use this app, there's so many random foods with incorrect information in and you have to pay for stuff that used to be free.
Cronometer is far superior and free!

Maybe people aren't aware? Myself included. If I had known about cronometer beforehand, there's a good chance I wouldn't be using MFP. Maybe after this year's sub expires, il have a look into it. For now I've got a ton of meals saved that I've put in so unless I can move them over that would cost me some time. I normally go with the foods with a green tick when it comes to searching, il do a quick compare on the packaging every so often.

Does cronometer have a premium service also to remove ads or? (edited)

Is the barcode scanner only in the pro version (it used to be in the free one, back in the day.)

Thank you so much this deal is amazing! It’s made me do the free trial and will charge me the 129.99 TRY on 11 March so fingers crossed MFP don’t clock on by then. But can’t wait to try premium features, love this app for when I’m trying hit weight goals! Thanks OP

You're welcome! Just keep your location set to Turkey for the meantime just to be safe.

The apps great, it's the first time I've took notice of macros and not just calories. It's made a huge difference as well as keeping me motivated.

I have the free premium APK version and it's a good app.

It keeps crashing for me. I'll try again in a year when my 3 pounds runs out and hopefully I'll have lost 3 pounds.
  9. ArcadianHero's avatar
Only potential problem. If you haven’t already had the one month free trial, this appears to be the only option to go Premium. So, even though it says TRY 129.99 as the price, this won’t be taken until the trial ends. If you change your location back to UK during the trial will it revert to UK pricing before payment?? I guess the workaround is to get the free trial out of the way first with UK location and then do the country change (like Rone has done).
    Great deal though.

I just did it with Apple Pay. Waited about 10mins and checked my bank - payment came out instantly

And MyFitnessPal app shows premium until Feb 10th 2025

Genuine question, is this even worth £3.99? I have barcode scanning for free as an older user and pi-hole blocks all ads anyway.
    EndemicAlarm's avatar
Me too and I can see barcode scanning disappering when the premium ends. It's the most useful feature by far, not risking that.

I may just create a new account and sign up for Premium, all the most important data can sync to Google Fit anyway so basic continuity is still there across accounts/apps. The really detailed stuff doesn't strike me as useful as long-term trends anyway.

    Google Fit:

    - Activity information can include step count, calories burned, and speed for activities like running, walking, or biking.

    - If you enter nutrition and hydration information through a connected app, Google Fit will track your food and drink. Nutrition and hydration information can include caloric intake, macronutrients, micronutrients, and water intake.

    - Body sensor information is data that may be collected by body sensors about your physical condition, such as heart rate.

    - If you track your sleep through a connected app, you’ll find sleep info in your Journal. Sleep info includes bedtime, wake-up time, and total hours slept. (edited)

Great price but still haven’t trusted them since their data breach a few years back
    DonDaggen's avatar
I understand but take a look at how many companies have had data breaches I would say most of them no excuse though.

Just to confirm this is now ending and due for renewal. It is still showing as 129.99. Is that GBP or Turkish coin? Anyone else got the same?

£3.18 got deducted for me after the trial (edited)

Awesome. Tempting. I'm currently on a 306 day streak! I guess I don't know much about Premium...however I can still use the scanner on my free version so have never updated the app! I've told friends about it but when they download it, it appears to be a premium feature now.

It's certain accounts outside the U.S. created before a certain date in 2022. You should be good to update as it's connected to your account. I have the latest version and barcode function works on free account.

Seemed to accept my Revolut card. Had to accept the month’s trial, but is showing 129.99TL after that, so fingers crossed (have stuck a reminder in my diary for a month’s time to make sure!)

You can leave it set to Turkey which won't have any impact on the app also if you wanted to play it more safe

For those people including me who had to sign up for a month subscription I’ve just accepted it and went onto the website not the app. It shows this screen which 130 TRY as the price still. So even though I’ve changed my country back to United Kingdom it still shows the turkey price!

    Rone's avatar

it's not a must, you can leave it set to Turkey which won't have any impact on the app functionality. Setting it to UK will just prompt you to confirm the changes

I might be being stupid my trial says it will take £129.99 in one month despite setting my country as Turkey, how do I avoid this situation.
    navi1010's avatar
Is it GBP 129 or TRY 129? (edited)
  24. mfactor's avatar
To save me looking what does the premium give you over the free, my free gives me macros and barcode , tho for £3 will get it anyhow....

Hi ended up signing up for a free trial as there was no way around for me despite trying with a different browser. I have cancelled auto-renewal but it looks like you can't cancel free trial nor buy the premium now. Is there any other way to buy for a year now? Or do I have to wait for a month? I have left Turkey for now.
    Rone's avatar
    Author
Wait the month out, then when the trial expires then you'll be able to buy premium.

This was the work around for someone earlier on in the deal

Maybe it's not important, but a few years ago they had their servers hacked.

MyFitnessPal: In February 2018, the diet and exercise service MyFitnessPal suffered a data breach. The incident exposed 144 million unique email addresses alongside usernames, IP addresses and passwords stored as SHA-1 and bcrypt hashes (the former for earlier accounts, the latter for newer accounts). In 2019, the data appeared listed for sale on a dark web marketplace (along with several other large breaches) and subsequently began circulating more broadly. (edited)

I am android, I usually have got a cracked apk but for £3.. I deleted it and will enjoy knowing I have the genuine up to date version :-D Dont ask why, I know deep down it wont change anything, but hey ho
  30. JoshLlewellyn's avatar
Thank you it’s worked for me. I haven’t had to accept the data breaches though when changing my location back to the UK
    Rone's avatar

This was found by ntrance originally so it's most likely changed since. Im guessing they was making users aware about the data breaches that occurred. I guess after a while, they don't have to make it known.
  31. patrickuk's avatar
Why do we need to change the location back to the UK?
    Rone's avatar

You don't, can leave it set to Turkey. It's more for your user profile and the community aspect.

Ah that's a shame. Personally I only have my steps connected and even then it's not needed for my use. I've turned off the setting where it adds your burnt calories into your daily calorie amount.

There hasn't been a food that I haven't been able to find as of yet. I mainly scan, and so far, everything has been coming up accurately. I've only been using MFP for the last 2 months.

I think they may have worked this one out.

My Turkish subscription suddenly expired, and it is asking me to become a premium subscriber again.

The exact same has happened to me but I'm not sure if it's because I automatically get a free trial and then they start charging after 30 days. The email says I will be charged $129.99 (dollars) however, my account is still showing TRY. I've cancelled the auto payment just incase but I'm sure I can manually go on and activate it again once I am certain it is TRY and not dollars! (edited)
