- Is it possible for a MVNO Mobile network to offer better signal/coverage/speeds in compared to its parent Main mobile network. For example GiffGaff runs off the o2 mobile network, so will a giffgaff sim be better than a o2 sim in the exact same location with both of these sims in the exact same mobile phone device? Or both perform exactly the same or the main o2 is better because its the main network hence why main networks costs more than MVNO networks? However why main networks on Truspilot reviews get such low scores compared to their MVNO networks
- ID Mobile Vs Smarty, which network is better with your reasons why and which supports the 2G network and how do these 2 networks reviewed on Trustpilot? Or what the differences between these 2 as they both run on the Three network.
- To confirm Smarty does not support SMS Shortcodes? So for example with smarty I cant text the word PAC to 65075?
- Will Vodafone and Three Networks merge later this year?
Enough about O2 though. Smarty is a MVNO that's owned by and uses the Three network. You get full access to things like 5G, WiFi calling. VoLTE, even things like free EU Roaming. And just like the above most of it is all self service, with only a small amount of online customer service who you can't call up to speak to.
To answer your other question. Both ID Mobile and Smarty are on the Three network. So neither support 2G Whatsoever as Three never had 2G at all. 3G is now starting to be switched off too. So it will be exclusively for use on 4G and 5G Only if you go with either of these. Out of the 2, I would personally go for Smarty. ID Is owned by Currys/Carphone who don't exactly have the best track record for customer service.
Smarty can text shortcodes. You can absolutely text 65075 for a PAC code. But if you are trying to text a shortcode for other reasons remember that charges apply and because Smarty sits on top of a pay as you go network you'll need to top up with some credit in order to text out if you want to do something like vote on a TV show, enter a competition or whatever.
If Vodafone and Three merge it will be a slow process and I wouldn't expect much to change this year. Nothing is set in stone yet, and there's still a reasonable chance of the deal being blocked if it's judged to negatively affect competition in the industry. It may happen. It may not. But I would not count on it.
Three will do you unlimited 5G home broadband for £25 a month on a 30 day rolling plan and that comes with the use of a proper 5G router for much better performance than a MiFi device.

Update - Looks like the discount was an error and now removed. (edited)
I have the Voxi unlimited everything £10 but I'm highly unlikely to hit 50gb and I miss free roaming
Also what about the 3 months introductory discount shown above?
Vodafone also had issues yesterday... Both networks want to merge, so I don't know if it's related or not.
The network itself depends a lot on the area. Three is very good in some areas with their 1500Mbps crazy speeds, but shocking in others.
Going to switch again to Talkmobile
In case nothing else works as well as plusnet, there's 1pmobile and Spusu on EE.
Seems pretty crazy they would prefer me to order a new SIM, post it and sign as a new customer rather than honour this deal.
And yes, unfortuntely, they offer these prices only to new customers, so you will have to order a new sim from them anyway.
