I have this laptop. I paid 799 during Black Friday. I'm very happy with it for the performance and portability.I posted some photos in a previous post. I use an external 14 monitor when travelling and a 27 gaming monitor when at home so the screen size is no issue. I'm also happy with the laptop display on itself.. It's just that I got used to have two screens all the time. The only downside is that once in a while I get a BSOD which seems to affect other yoga laptops. I have not investigated it, although it looks like a sw problem but at the moment I can live with it. I suggest to buy the 3 years warranty for the battery and the laptop, which I did. The charger is small, too, although I've replaced mine with a gan charger because it has multiple usb. The laptop has 2 usb c, 2 usb a.. No hdmi out so if you plan to connect lots of devices at the same time, you might need a router. I have the charger and external monitor using the usb c already, just to give you an example. I would buy it again even at 799.

BSODs on this and other Lenovo models are because of the Mediatek M.2 WiFi card they use, replaced mine on this exact model with Intel AX210 that costs £15

Good price, but the 100w power supply seems on the low side. Going to mean the CPU/GPU being heavily cut back from reaching their potential. Not an issue in general day to day use, but something to consider if you want to use it for creative/gaming use.
    nutellaaa's avatar
It’s not a gaming laptop. The TGP on the 3050 in this is 55W when only the GPU is stressed, and 35-40W under full GPU + CPU (max 35W) load. This isn’t pulling more than 75-80W even with everything maxed. A 100W adapter is fine. (edited)

Same price available via perks at work. Thanks for the heads up op, was considering at £799 since the last deal was posted, this is a great price, have purchased. (edited)

What's the predicted heat on this one? 900 degrees?

    Yeah on the gpu

Voted cold. Not a deal most can get. (edited)

I have to agree with this. It’s a pretty good deal but so many of these are gatekept by Educational discounts unless I’m missing something? It would have been nice to see the RTX 4050 and 7840HS make an appearance as well.

Looking at the reviews on the Lenovo site, it sounds like there's some sort of issue where the laptop won't turn on if it's been charged to 100% when turned off. Anyone know if this has been fixed?
    delboypass's avatar
Is it the same with all Lenovos or just specific?

I have just bought the Lenovo Ideapad slim 5 .. now questioning my decision and if to return

A bit too expensive for me but looks good. Wish it was £500
    Daidek777's avatar
I wish they would pay me to get it.
  8. emJayO's avatar
Anyone have any idea on how the 3050 in this would handle games like Last Epoch or Path of Exile?
    ColdUSAScams's avatar
Those games are old enough to be played on very high settings. May want to run them at 1080p insteaed of 3K for smooth performance on high. (edited)
  9. itsjustme's avatar
So that's like £150 less than I paid 3 weeks ago
    turbo_c's avatar
It's been 799.99 on Lenovo website for a while.

    Nice spec, especially 32GB.

    "50% off" lol

Remember Yoga Slim models don't do yoga...

If you have a Lenovo Pro account (as I have), its the same price with another 9% TCB so it'll be around £630.

I really like these! I have a 12th gen Intel 12700h version (no GPU) and its a lovely small portable machine and battery life is really good, will go half a day unplugged.
    Hazzz's avatar
Noticed this on my Lenovo pro account too. I think anyone can sign up to the Lenovo pro scheme..?

Hi All, any extended warranty options available on this at the point of purchase?

Bloody annoying that these exclude home educated users...
    bilbob's avatar
However I've just found that it IS included in our works perks thing...!
    And...
The 3 year on site warranty is just 25 quid...

    Billy bargain.

Think I've just bought a new laptop.

For £700 Very nice spec laptop I saw someone comparing apple to windows
I can not compare because it is 2 different devices
Costco have for sale M2 Pro MacBook Pro for £1600 it is have pluses like good battery, good cpu etc ...
But it is cost 2 x times and only have 512 GB SSD

I would say like this if someone can not decide this laptop or apple
If your working software is only windows then do not look to apple side as you will have issues with ARM emulation windows
Other thing laptop only £700 and for the money it is really nice device i would say balanced creator device Like video , photo and laptop as laptop

Someone posting can i game or it is have only 50 W GPU bla bla 50W CPU
I would say it is best battery and power ration from last year tech and it is laptop not TOASTER with RTX 4080 180 W GPU where you can cook food on laptop or Jet plane with 3 x fans blowing (edited)
  16. mrTea67's avatar
If as im reading it it's a 14 inch screen, then surely it's a bit wasted on such a small size. Cant knock what you are getting otherwise, great price. (edited)

Thanks so much. I couldn't get this for £700 but I bought it for an added £50 as I'm still waiting for my BBC apprentice application to come through. I made a deal for non-students as there is a price difference. Otherwise, I was going to share the code with you to make this deal more accessible to everyone. Here's my non-student deal.

16:10 screen ratio, seems solid. Is there any trick get it for non-students?
    plewis00's avatar
Probably ask chat if they can help you out with it, I've heard people accessing discounts that way:

How is its performance on multitasking such as photoshop + multiple taps on browser + teams + email client + word?
    sergiup's avatar
Depends what kind of Photoshop... But this will handle pretty much all of that, none of it is overly demanding.
  24. SlimaB's avatar
Thanks. That's great. Had this in my basket but was holding fire pulling the trigger. Now purchased.

Was looking for something like this and the 3050 is a bonus for light gaming.
  25. maserto's avatar
Is it me or have they added an extra step verification for Totum/Nus and Unidays card holders?
    wizball's avatar
Something does seem to have changed. I have had some SheerID verification prompt show up, which I don't recall ever seeing before.
  26. Divardo's avatar
How would this compare to the Apple Macbook Pro M2 16Gb. Mainly going to be used for graphic and video editing.
    Tommy_Johnson's avatar
Apple m2 would be faster on battery for most CPU-intensive tasks. For GPU-intensive tasks, blender and gaming the Lenovo would probably have an edge over the m2 but this would be more powerful plugged in.

I don't know how much the m2 is but it's £1900 for an m3 16 GB RAM so it's a very good value (edited)

That's the previous generation processor, isn't it?
    rendeverance's avatar
Yes, but not a great deal in it, this is a brilliant deal for 700, if I'd not got my slim 5 with work in December I'd be all over this

Bought this exact model, only with glare screen so it doesn't have plastic bezels. Paid £1199 in Oct 2022. Upgraded NVMe to 2TB for another £145. The prices drop relatively fast.

Happy with everything, gaming performance is good too for non-competitive games, as screen is a bit slow (not too bad) in terms of latency even with 120Hz if you wanna play CSGO or similar.
  32. colwynbay76's avatar
I had the laptop. It was really nice, portable, great specs and good with light gaming. There is no hdmi output but you can output up to 4k at 60hz using a usb-c 3.2 cable adaptor to displayport.

Whilst the screen had great specs, I think you don't need them on a 14" display. It does look washed out when you use the max display settings.

As for gaming, I'm not sure. It was ok, I was getting the odd stuttering issue but not sure if a bug.

The reason I sent it back was that the power adapter would reach a temperature of 60c which for me was too hot.

It's got all the specs you want for doing creative, scientific or gaming activities but due to the design it will heat up when you push it.

For £700 or £799 its a good purchase but as others have said have the warranty.

I wish it had a touch screen.
  33. BadaL_Badal's avatar
Wow look at the specs its better then my gaming laptopn lol
    plewis00's avatar
What gaming laptop is that as this is a slim machine and probably has TDP limited parts that your gaming laptop doesn’t.
  34. bilbob's avatar
Got my shipping confirmation email, but not showing on the online order details yet, annoyingly!

Hopeful it could get here tomorrow...
  35. Roberto_LoStorto's avatar
Funny to note that during Black Friday this laptop didn't get many votes and it was just £99 more. When I bought mine, plus warranty, I received £70 in Lenovo Rewards plus £43 cashback from Top...
    plewis00's avatar
It's still available normal price for £799 right now for non-education users. Lenovo Rewards are only useful if you're buying more from them later on, but recently all their amazing deals have dried up.
  36. geokarbou's avatar
A LOT of laptop for the price! I don't have personal experience with the Yoga Slim line (only had Thinkpads) but this looks like an amazing deal.
