Do these only work with Hue light bulbs ? Or can they be used to turn any normal switch into a smart one ?

I am looking to replace two dimmer switches ( on one faceplate ). Would these do the trick?

I have to say I can't quite see the appeal of the whole Philips hue thing.. Is it just to have a colour changing ecosystem in your home and in reality how often do you change the lighting colour?

You can use these with any zigbee device though? Doesn't need to be Philips, as long as you can use Home Assistant.

Do these work for two gang switches? I’ve got a double switch upstairs and downstairs and would ideally like to place one at the downstairs and one upstairs or is there a better solution (cheaper) these lights in the hall and landing are just off and on and are never dimmed.

Do you mean 2-way lighting? Yes you can use as many of these as you like together.

A bit of a waste if only using to switch on & off, alternative if you want to be able to use digital devices to turn them on/off are the £15 sonoff no neutral gadgets behind your existing switches, although these require deeper back boxes (easy if you have plasterboard walls, effort if solid walls).

These switches dont actually fit on a 1g box, if you want that, they are an additional £10 on amazon.
