Are these any good?. I've got all makita lxt tools but can't justify makita prices for a comparable 400nm impact wrench for the times I'll use it.

Have had mine about 2 years. Works really well. Probably wouldn't last in a professional environment but for DIY car stuff excellent

I can't understand why people are struggling with these? I've used mine for seized suspension bolts, subframes, wheels etc.

Maybe they don't understand how these are supposed to work or are not holding them right?

Impact wrenches work with lots of relatively small taps which slowly loosens the fastening. You might need to keep it banging away for a minute or so but it will come.

It's not like say a screwdriver which works on torque alone.

Great tool. Had mine for a couple of years now.

Mines been great too, I have a feeling people just buy these to remove air impacted wheel nuts from a garage which this will 100% struggle on.

I had one for a few years,
If the bolts are really tight, it won't undo it.
It's ok but may need breaker bar to loosen tight bolts, have a torque wrench to tighten to correct torque, don't trust torque setting on this.
The main powered version is much more powerful.

You must always torque up your wheel bolts/nuts with a torque wrench. Should go without saying!

I find mine is great but with the included impact sockets it would not remove wheel nuts.i purchased some thin wall deep impact sockets and now it removes them with ease.

Crap, won't remove wheel nuts on our cars without cracking them manually.

Mine does mine without any issue and I've used it on rusted on bolts. Sounds like your wheel bolts are being over torqued

I've owned this for around 2 years now, I'm a car enthusiast and own 3 cars. If you work on your cars in a DIY environment, this is decent for the job. I've used it many times to loosen stubborn bolts I could not get/use my breaker bar. For wheels, it gets the nuts off even though I tighten then without a torque wrench. I have a feeling here that lots of people are trying to use this to remove wheel nuts installed at a garage (where they use an air impact gun).

Personally if I have a difficult nut I need to remove, I firstly resort to a breaker bar in the first instance as you can 'feel' the nut without rounding it. However, I've used this a few times for situations I needed an impact and it's been faultless. £70 with a battery and charger is pennies.

I am exactly the same as you, car enthusiast whose owned one for a few years. Always does me proud. For £70 it will do what its supposed to do and then some.

As you have said if trying to crack a wheel nut from a garage your literally trying to compete against an air powered tool for £70. Good luck with that! Worse part is every know-it-all on here recommending Dewalt when it costs double without a battery or charger.

Not bad powerful enough but if your bolts are seized then best use a breaker bar.

400nm not good enough to open wheels nuts still you have to use other options to do manually

I use a wheelbrace to change my wheels twice a year. Not measured it but probably a radius of 200mm. If I can get over 400mn, I must be really strong, that’s a force of 2000mn?

Don't bother, total waste of money, makes a lot of noise but wheelnuts need to be practically loose for this to have any effect. Got lots of other parkside tools in this range but this one was a major disappointment If you need one of these you had better save up for a Dewalt or similar.
And I think they have put the price up by 10 or 20 quid. (edited)

Any recommendations for a dewalt model? I want to carry a spare one in the car in case of emergency tyre change.

Impact bolts with this are a must buy. I purchased sone sealey ones from amazon for around £20. It saves time n alot of energy using this, but first you loosen with a breaker bar n whizz off with these.
    lemo's avatar
The whole point of an impact wrench is that they make breaking bolts loose easier. You should not have to use a breaker bar, apart from when you cannot get the impact into a tight spot.  (edited)

they seem to be managing to be man enough already with breaker bars?

they is the 18v version breaker bars

The electric one is ok the cordless is a waste of time.

It's rubbish. They lie in description. It states it's powerful and then 400Nm which is not powerful at all. I use DeWalt one and a this is the thing you want (especially with old model going much cheaper and it's more than capable.)
    zhzahidh1's avatar
    Which model?

Handy tool to have in my experience. Have a flat tyre changed with the quickness, especially handy at 2am half way up a mountain at - 7.

'2am half way up a mountain at - 7'.........do you not need to sort eyesight out first or your sat nav?

Thanks for the comments fellas. Looks like a good DIY by comments but for jobs that needs high torque it would be not good.

I have one for when I work on my car, if I could go back I would have purchased something more expsensive and powerful. Not as powerful as I would have hoped, struggles with wheel nuts and rusted bolts.
    Rush420's avatar
I had the same experience with it. When It struggled to loosen alloy bolts, then I decided that it was not worth that money, so send it back to lidl under a warranty as claimed that tool is clearly underperforming, and they accepted it back with no doubt. Got myself dewalt twice expensive, but he's a bad ass compared to Parkside.

I saw this today and decided not to buy. As anyone experience of the Screwfix erbauer one? I have batteries and charger for other tools so might be a better buy.

part of the X20V range. The Parkside website promotes the interchangeability of the products battery wise but the problem is Lidl UK do not have mail order so you could be waiting months to add to your collection.
    I'll stick to Einhell.
