    Ok everyone-

I did extensive research into the replicas and different level of cloning on these and I can tell you this…..

The single sure fire easy way tell if any of these AirPods are genuine is to update the firmware. They never come with the latest version so will need updating and that’s where clones fall down. The firmware cannot be updated to the latest Apple version on clones.
If unsure, google to find the latest version and run the update. 100% guarantee it won’t work on replicas.  (edited)

But then you have to buy it to do that and if it’s fake you lose your money? (edited)

    Great price. Ordered

EBay are very good at disputes (from a buyers perspective). Just be sure to follow this guide:

How can one tell if these are genuine?

I was wondering the same. Tempted by the price but I just have a slight hesitation on whether these are legit.

Ordered last night at 7pm, DPD have just delivered them to me at work, serial number checked out on Apple, I'll do further checks tonight when I get home but all looks good to me

Yes. I've also had mine delivered. Could you post an update on how you get on later when setting up, as I'm out and about so won't get the chance till tomorrow?

I looked for these last year and was amazed to discover that the replicas are so close to the original that they effectively kill the second-hand market, at least for me. Even if they give you a serial number you can check against the apple website, how do you know it's the one you'll be getting?

I wouldn't trust buying these unless the seller was a known shop probably.

Thats my concern, the replica's these days appear to imitate the originals almost 1:1 which makes it very difficult to identify whether its genuine or not. They even have the same pop-up as the genuine ones when you open them. Really sucks that one can't take this at face value these days. (edited)

    Ordered, lowest I have seen

Price must have changed, £198 after discount now.
Also where the hell do they get the RRP £277.65 from? RRP is £229 (edited)

Buy it direct is a legit company that’s been around since the late 90’s. I wouldn’t be worried about them being fake and it’s the discount code from eBay that makes them this cheap

Decided to take the risk and order. Reviews seem good and their customer service were prompt and helpful. I also double checked the eBay account is affiliated with the actual company Buy It Direct which it is.

As others have commented, if the firmware update fails, then I’ll raise a dispute but all the signs seem to suggest this is a legit deal.

I ordered an hour ago and they’ve already created the dispatch notice for DPD (the fact they’re using DPD gives me further confidence it’s genuine)

I have took the plunge and ordered. They are backed by appliances direct, so seem legit. Without the discount same price as Costco, so prices seem in line.

I bought a pair from laptops direct for £199 + postage. The subsequent emails come from buy it direct, so I assume it's the same company. Have used laptops direct for years and always been genuine for me.

£80 postage to send a tiny parcel to Inverness is ridiculous

For few quid don’t risk it. Better to buy from authorised retailer
