AC aka WiFi 5 has had its day. WiFi 6 is the way to go

7 years old router for that price is bit too much.

Yeah. It has only dropped about £120 over those 7 years and I have no idea if the firmware has fixed the bugs. Still, it might be a solid option for a modem-router combo for those still on DSL.

Newbie here. Please can anyone help clarify these few questions :-

    1. Read this is not a Wifi 6 router - is it worth waiting for a 6 model to future proof the router?
    2. Can this replace broadband router - i.e. replace Sky's router rather than put it into model mode?
    3. Can this be used as part of a mesh wifi setup?

    Thanks (edited)

You'd want a 6E/7 for any sort of future proofing.

Is this a Currys price match? Same price there on clearance.

Anyway, this has been out for years. You can save about £30 if you buy used if that doesn't bother you.

This has a Broadcom chipset so it should, in theory, be rock solid from as far as the modem is concerned, especially for long DSL connections. Supports G.fast too if you're in the approx. 5% with coverage. But this has pretty mixed reviews for stability and I have no idea if it's any better these days.

Back in the day, this wouldn't even *see* my phone line, let alone establish a connection.
