ASUS Dual GeForce RTX™ 4070 12GB GDDR6X with two powerful Axial-tech fans and a 2.56-slot design for broad compatibility

Featuring the latest NVIDIA® Ampere architecture, ASUS Dual GeForce RTX™ 4070 fuses dynamic thermal performance with broad compatibility. Advanced cooling solutions from flagship graphics cards — including two Axial-tech fans for maximizing airflow to the heatsink — are packed into the 26.7 cm long, 2.56-slot card, delivering more power in less space. These enhancements make ASUS Dual the perfect choice for gamers who want heavyweight graphics performance in a compact build.

Features:
- Powered by NVIDIA DLSS3, ultra-efficient Ada Lovelace arch, and full ray tracing.
- 4th Generation Tensor Cores: Up to 4x performance with DLSS 3 vs. brute-force rendering
- 3rd Generation RT Cores: Up to 2x ray tracing performance
- OC mode: TBD MHz (OC mode)/ TBD MHz (Default mode)
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure.
- A 2.55-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis.
- 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence.
- Dual ball fan bearings can last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs.

You have to really love Nvidia to choose this over 7800xt / 7900 GRE

Or love Cyberpunk and Alan Wake. 4070 beats those cards in heavy RT games but the GRE wins on everything else except power draw.

This or 4070 FE for £529 at scan ?

I'd say this. Cheaper, runs cooler and quieter + an extra 1y of warranty. Some people really love the FE design and FE cards tend to hold their value well, even with that in mind, the Dual would be my personal pick. (edited)

at this point should by 399 max.

You can get the ASUS Dual 7800xt for same price. With the cashback offer, that makes it £444, which is decent.

However, the negative experiences others have had trying to get their money back have put me right off trying it. (edited)

Why would you buy this when you could get a 4070 super for 20-40 more?

I will be upgrading my pc soon, my current pc has a 2070 super….would a 4070 super be a decent upgrade or should i consider another card?
    bonjwa's avatar
It's a big performance uplift, just google it you will get yt videos with multiple games side by side comparison and decide for yourself if that's good enough or you need more power.

Bought a 3060 in 2021 at this price (edited)

In Jan 2021 I bought a 1660 super for £240, in Nov 2021 I bought another one for £400, although total PC build cost the same because other components were cheaper.

Would this be much of if any upgrade on my current Asus TUF 3070Ti?

52391026-Niikh.jpgI'd say, look at some comparisons and decide for yourself. 3070ti should still fetch £300+ if you want to recoup some of the cost back.

Isn't the 4070 generally a really bad buy? At one point when 4070 SUPER was launched, some retailers were selling it for like £530 under MSRP (not sure if that is the case). It's way better.

When you compare 4070 to it's cheaper 7800 XT competitor, the 7800 XT generally performs better and can be as much as £80+ cheaper. When you factor in it has less VRAM too, it just seems like a terrible card to buy.

Therefore I'd say don't consider getting a 4070 unless it is at £400 or lower (that's what it is worth when you look at it's performance compared to other GPUs).
