Hmm…I went for this pre build a few weeks back from Amazon that went hot

    hotukdeals.com/dea…126

For the £70 difference is the 4060 vs 3060 ti and Ryzen 5 vs i5 worth possibly swapping?

I'd stick with what you've got. Dlss3 (frame generation) is nice, but you need a high frame rate in the first place for it to work well otherwise there is quite a noticeable input lag. You can always upgrade the AM4 system down the line with a more powerful gpu and cpu. Keep the £70 I'd say, then in 2 years when something like the 5800x3d is cheap 2nd hand get one of those and pair it with a better gpu.

Will this be a suitable build for my son who wants to play Fortnite in a higher frame rate, and enter Fortnite eSports competitions. Have a budget in mind for a PC but finding it's a minefield, thanks for any advice.

Should be good. Bear in mind most people who play competitively turn the graphics settings down to low because there is less detail/distractions for opposition players to hide in. Also higher frames are achieved with lower settings.

Great System to be back on the market and run for the money.

    12400F I5 6Core 12Thread.
H610 Motherboard that features x16 4.0 (nice for 4060 bus)
16GB Ram (CL 19 3200mhz) original it was CL 22 extreme slow, "someone made a complaint".
FX PSU But can change often (budget and fair for this)
1TB NVME Drive (low end but fair)
AWD X Case, really nice case my daughters got one upstairs, nice standard for budgets.
    - the picture doesnt do it justice to be honest on the web

Windows is "COSTCO" on the invoice which is Costco taking advantage of that AWD all come preloaded and it unactivated, costco playing a grey area, nothing wrong with that!.

puts a hell lot of other 4060 Systems builders to shame, which are 100% marketing bombs.

obvious palicomp does break that nature and its been mention, we could easly move this to 6700XT for the price, but it wont include windows.

even direct palicomp AMD Velocity is £20 cheaper then AWD/COSTCO, and does feature B550 standard, better cl ram, and u can use the 1p booster for the slim 1st player case.

but it does not inc windows.

PS: Costco / awd are not directly pre made all the time, they are set products with quick turn around though, usual few days, and if u buy quicker then others u get in there first on the premade batch, as most will do a semi batch if its coming upto a promo offer,

Worth noting I did a fresh install of Windows 11 when I got mine. Everything worked as planned, the only change I made was in the bios disabling msi driver utility installer before doing the install. Updated drivers for the graphics card directly from Nvidia. Also put in a small capacity SSD drive I had which I had no use for

The Intel CPU is faster and has a full speed PCI-E 16X slot. The RTX4060 is faster than the RTX3060,but in some scenarios the extra VRAM of the RTX3060 can help.

It's a nice pre-built for the money and you will get good support from Costco if needed. I know some people like to build themselves but this really isn't much more than self-built - if I was in a rush or recommending a gaming PC to someone, this would be high on my shortlist.
    DCollector's avatar
Support is via AWT-IT in this case unfortunately.

Was about to pull the trigger and now the deal has gone. Anybody know anything similar at the same sort of price range?

A friend had asked me about getting a new budget gaming system. I did look at this as I saw it in Costco. However, the system from palicomp that FairPriceSystems posted I felt was a better deal:
    hotukdeals.com/dea…722

This with the Intel 12400f CPU and M/B + upgrade to 700PSU & 32GB ram came to a total of £725.
Personally i feel that this is a better system. The 6700 XT GPU with 12GB ram I also felt was a slightly better card just due to the additional 4GB vRAM.

I think with this it's all built and configured and can be bought immediately from Costco. Nice system in the link you provided.

This went really hot, the only thing that stops me is the lack of PCI-e slots and just 1 M2 slot

I almost bought a 4060 PC for my Son's birthday last week. I then saw some deals on 3070 systems and spotted the 3070 is about 20-25% faster on most stats compared to the 4060.

DDR5 ram has very little gain over DDR4 so bang-for-buck was achieved in the end with a 3070 Acer system for us! :-) He was moving up from a 1070 system so it would all have been an improvement.

Is this a good model for playing ms flight simulator? I compared the specs to the recommended and it seemed ok, but those MS flight specs are from 2019.... Anyone play MS flight, my teenager flies somewhere every night but off the xbox on cloud and it is annoying as it is so slow to load.
    Bobbins2's avatar
It'll be good. There are a few YouTube videos showing that this card performs well on MS flight sim. Searching with '4060 Microsoft flight simulator' and a few results show. Don't expect anything at 4k or anything, but it has good 1080p performance and 1440p with dlss is achievable with nice graphics settings by the looks of it
