How's this compare to the 0% fat Greek yogurt in the pink pot from Aldi?

It's 450g compared to 500g for the authentic greek but still cheaper, especially at this price. It has slightly more protein, slightly more sugar and slightly more salt but it's almost identical nutritionally. The texture is denser and thicker, it's almost like soft cheese. Flavour is fine in my opinion, a little less creamy but that might also be because of the texture difference. I eat it mostly with sliced banana as dessert / snack and personally I find it extremely similar, but I'm not super fussy about food generally so maybe the small differences would bother others.

It's so thick and sticky I think you could use it to make a low fat cheesecake instead of actual cheese. It's very impressive for 0% fat in my opinion. (edited)

Fat free but why the sugar content? Warm. (edited)

It's likely because milk has sugar in it.

    Good deal, unfortunately it's rank.

It's not as bad as I expected tbh. Very similar to the branded 0% Skyr yoghurts at twice the price.

Aldi has or rather used to have Brooklea Skyr Icelandic yogurts for £0.99, they are now almost never in stock and recently noticed price label on the shelf gone as well.
    groceries.aldi.co.uk/en-…770

Now they have introduced a new "protein" yogurt which has practically the same amount of protein as their Skyr yogurt (11g vs 13g per 100g).
    groceries.aldi.co.uk/en-…047

Or also recently appeared in Aldi shops their "new" small Skyr yogurts.
    groceries.aldi.co.uk/en-…035

New yogurts are a lot more expensive, 50% more for the protein one (30% if on offer), or nearly 100% more per 100g for a small Skyr.

We've had shrinkflation, then greedflation, but what would you call this, "scamflation"? (edited)

I go through one of these every two days, great macros, tastes good enough to eat on it's own but it's best used to mix with just about anything.

Btw if someone is after healthy protein, low fat and none UPF, then might as well go with value range cottage cheese. It's also 11g protein per 100g. Not as tasty but put it on toasted pitta bread, add bit apricot jam and there you go

That contains potassium sorbate which would make it UPF, no?

These taste disgusting. The added sugar is completely pointless as it tastes so bitter anyway. If u want the extra protein without the sour taste and pointless sugar, just add a 12p egg to ur main meal.
    stphnstevey's avatar
Yes, but there is the fat & cholesterol in eggs

    I’ll give this a try.
Not sure how they can call it fat free when the nutrition info states that it does contain fat, albeit very low.
So surely they shouldn’t be calling it “fat free”
    Tamatoa's avatar
A fat-free claim can be made when the product contains no more than 0.5g of fat per 100g.

I get their protein pouches protein on the go. And you don't need a spoon. Fits in your pocket too. (edited)

Is there anything I can add to get rid of the sourness? The only reason I hate yogurt but everyone keeps nagging me saying how good it is for you.

Don't buy fat free, full fat tastes far better and research shows that, in healthy adults, the saturated fat in milk/yoghurt/some cheese doesn't affect cholesterol levels. As long as you aren't lactose intolerant then, health wise, dairy is pretty much neutral, with some yoghurts and cheeses edging into the realms of potentially good for you.

Of course I'm just some rando on the internet, so do your own research. (edited)

Stay away from anything that says protein, fat free or reduced sugar on front of packaging. Your gut will thank you

Been this price for weeks now, i always buy it. Great probiotic for your gut, high in protein so keeps you fuller for longer, i throw some good quality granola on top and a mix of blueberries/ raspberries/strawberries. BOOM..... Great tasting and healthy breakfast.
