A HUB and a SWITCH might visually appear similar (lots of RJ45 network sockets in a row). They are not the same and work slightly differently.
Hubs are generally older, slower and dumber devices than switches. Hubs just blast all the data packets to all the connected devices on all ports regardless.
Switches are much smarter (especially if their managed). They can quickly switch to sending and receiving the data directly to a particular port/IP at a faster speed.
