As a huge final fantasy fan and who stupidly spent 200 hours platinuming FF7 Rebirth because I was amazing. This game is quite boring and just didn't click for me.

It doesn't have any real RPG mechanics, except a simple increment weapon and armour upgrade system (although the weapons do look good) and a aditional Eikon ability selections with enough points and a different selection of Eikon's to select (you can select up to three), but after experimenting usually I just went back to the three same Eikon's

It doesn't even have weaknesses or resistance to elements. So there's no strategy except, dodge and parry really.

What the worst part is the side quests. They're all accommodation of go here get that or kill this beast.

The Eikon battles look good, but for me, they are just a boring button mash or timing mini-gam that isn't mini. They draw out so long and all the though they look good, it just seems like there's so many particles and affects going off that I can barely make out some of the things that are happening.

The music is absolutely amazing though and most of the voice acting is brilliant. Plus some areas are really nice and, I think, they have fixed the tedious travel back and fourth and you can now fast travel back to the person who gave you the quest when completed 😁

I think I agree with your points. The side quests were mostly very basic and really don't make any sense when the main quest is supposed to be so urgent.

"Oh don't worry about your city being raided, I'll be there in 20 hours or so after I get this peasant some cabbages."

However the characters, music and world are very Final Fantasy. On the whole I enjoyed it, but I did get to a point where I just wanted it to end.

Still need to finish this. Loved the first few hours but then felt it all got a bit button-mashy and being told what to do by Chris Finch broke immersion every single time!

Not played since release, leant it to a friend who started playing at the weekend (it's his first ever Final Fantasy). Anyone know what the DLC has been like? I'll probably give it another playthrough at the end of this year.
