Don't know if it will work but every Friday FogStar send out a 20% off code / offer (its a FogStar Friday event they do every Friday)

Nah that's for individual cells, chargers, and accessories. If you're planning on buying bulk cells for building a battery, as I've done multiple times over the last few years, they have a wholesale site that's a good bit cheaper per cell. Ideal if you're buying like 80.

An essential accessory if you own an Asus Rog Ally so I hear….

    How are these used ?
To charge on a lower tariff at night and use during the day or powered via solar panels ?
This is the cost of close to 3 years electricity for us on tracker, hard to imagine how they are worth buying unless they come with a long warranty and dont start severely degrading by 5 years.
Obviously im aware theres a benefit for someone without access to the power grid (edited)
    trickyd's avatar
Charge either solar or one of the speciality octopus tarrifs at night for 7.5p/kWh, you can then export in the day at 15p/kWh. They come in to thier own if you have a EV to charge and heat pump to run as it means you can always be running them based on free (solar) or cheapest night rate

Not bad if building a house off grid and too far away from the nearest grid connection, could make that last for two weeks with no solar input if in frugality mode - 1kw of electric use a day, for the wife and I. We are on Octopus Agile, BTW, which means are bills are so low that there is no incentive for us to buy solar/battery - other than go off-grid to avoid the rip-off standing charges that have doubled in a few years. The govn is hiding behind Ofgem when people complain to them, fobbing off a recent petition to parliament,

1kwh a day? My idle is 3x as much

Haven't researched batteries but we have a 4kw solar array with a solax inverter. Would this work? Thanks for any advice.
    TheBargainMan's avatar
if the solax inverter has a battery output then yes

I have this battery. It was amazing at £2500 compared to the competition so even cheaper is wow. Scorchio.

What's your set up. Whole house power?

Only 3500 life cycles? No Thanks

They use EVE class A cells, which are the best in the business and are specced for 6000 cycles. fogstar.co.uk/pro…e-a (edited)

Would one of these work for a pop up event space? Projector, PA, electric hob, kettle, e-bike charging etc.
If it’s overkill can someone suggest a better alternative? (edited)
    motionwerk's avatar
To use it, you need to purchase an inverter. You also have to think carefully how many kW your equipment might need for an event.
Finally, this things weight is 140kg.
  9. lazyboy's avatar
Nothing but good things to say about Fogstar, a far better and safer option than buying cells from outside the UK.

    wow battery prices have dropped
    Mark_Hickman's avatar
Have they, id hate to see them before 😵
  11. williambeech's avatar
Pair this with a solid inverter and you’re good to go.

Is it even possible to have no energy supplier in uk nowadays? Thinking about switching off grid. Standing charges are more what im using atm (edited)
    DJBlewitt's avatar
You sort of can but you'd need oil or wood for heating and be careful with how much power you use. The convenience of being on grid and benefiting from economies of scale make the grid look like a bargain to me.
  13. welshblob's avatar
Not a solar expert by any means but was comparing this to the 5kWh Rayleigh Instruments battery my brother has just has installed. That was rated at 10,000 cycles with a max discharge current of 80A although the latter was not stated related to the cycles as this fogstar is : Cycle Life: 3500 cycles (rated at drawing 200A per cycle)

I very much doubt anyone would be drawing 200A on these packs so I assume the cycle life would be longer? Anyone got any calculations on this to try and compare them fairly?
    Ajay1's avatar
Pylontech comes with double the cycles and lasts for about 7- 8 years so I’m assuming this would be only good for 3-4 years so wouldn’t even cover its own cost.
  14. sievo666's avatar
Anyone know a good sub ohm coil to use with this?
  15. james_jew's avatar
Just bought 2 of these to add to my current DIY set up. 62kwh of storage now!

Can be wired in for whole house power. What's the peak output? (edited)

Spec sheet says 200A max discharge. So round about 10kW peak

Whoah looks a nice deal. I paid £1300 for a pylontech us5000 (4.8kWh) just over a year ago
    Ajay1's avatar
You are still better off coz Pylontech has more than double life cycles

Nice price for that capacity....I wonder if this would play ball work a Huawei Luna inverter...anyone know? Can't find any solid info online.
    Dan_8j4's avatar
The inverters that work with this battery will be called hybrid inverters which the Huawei is listed as but check the specs.

    Yes

Does anyone know if it's possible to have 2x 30kwh of their server racks to power my house throughout the day, using cheap or tracked tariffs? And can I have app support so I can control the battery storage etc...
    Dan_8j4's avatar
Seems like. It says up to 15 of these can be joined in parallel.
  23. ariecol's avatar
Can this really achieve cost saving

By storing cheap energy at night 7p/kWh

My un educated gross calculation shows at least 8.5 years to break without labour cost and other bits and bobs (edited)
    Bas-tec's avatar
Seems to be well balanced to push off. All depends how, who with and where u live. Me doing maths myself now too
  24. GlastoM's avatar
How long would it take to charge on a normal home setup? Wondering about charging the car and this in the octopus off peak window.

Also smart tech is there available like a ohme pro that can charge it at the lowest rate on octopus agile?

Hi. I have solar panels as part of the 2013 feed in tariff (given free by 3rd party). The solar energy feeds directly in to my mains

I am thinking of getting battery storage to add to this but not sure what I'd need and cost of getting a battery like this added in to the solar system.

    Any help would be great.
  26. Zeeeee's avatar
How this compare to a sunsynk 5.32 battery in terms of longevity and quality? This seems much cheaper for the amount of storage you get?
