just as a heads up this ties it to your amazon account, rather than showing your expiration date on the Microsoft subscription page it makes you log in to amazon to see it and the auto renew i guess will be managed by amazon not Microsoft bit naughty really

in past used to get a code that could just add to your Microsoft account

Not so. Bought it last week from amazon Germany and it shows the subscription in my Microsoft account.

Ah a subscription! I keep my Win7 laptop with MS office that at the time was free for life.

Windows 7 is end of life with no patches. Just don't use it for anything important / sensitive.

Assuming you can still turn off the auto-renewal?

its says cancel subscription in account not cancel auto renewal, i am pretty sure they would let the subscription expire if cancel but will prob wait till last month now to be sure, clear as mud

added on to my existing subscription without issue although not quite as straight forward as just adding code, they send you a link and for me said failed after activating, then said code already been used when tried again, then when logged in to my account on Microsoft and redirected to amazon had added 12 months to my subscription so hadn't failed (edited)

Say if you have family plan already and but you wanted to join someone else's because spaces are not filled. Then how do you go about this without losing what's on your one drive? Is it just simply joining another's family before expiry?

you could join their "family" with a new email address. If your existing account is synced to folders on your PC then you can sync the new account to the same folders and just let it do its stuff. If your stuff is not synced (mine isn't except for one folder) then there are tools for transferring between cloud accounts. Worst case if you are tight for time before expiry you could download the lot then upload the lot to the new account.

Or you can get the one just for 1 person for £40.49; mine just expired today (nice of them to tell me in advance via email or something!), but I'm wondering can you cancel the auto renewal? Assumed it would be similar to Amazons S&S but maybe not?

Are you able to use Desktop versions of Microsoft Office with this subscription? Also can you sync all documents with their history versions with Google Drive?

Word of warning, if you need any help (for example, I kept getting an error message when purchasing this today from Amazon!) then don’t bother with Amazon customer service. They’ve successfully wasted 45 mins of my time today, and have zero idea what’s going on!

Can you use domain linked email addresses with this?
    spannerzone's avatar
It comes with Outlook, so yes you can use your own domain email.

“£87.99/year after the first 1 year”

    Something to bear in mind.
Personally I’ve found Argos to be the best place to get this from - they drop to close to this price quite regularly.

That said ….. perfectly decent deal but for the price after year 1.

Worth buying the individual sub stacking that fro 5 years and then converting that to famil sub, mine lasts till late 2027.

That said i forgot Onedrive download speed is very very slow, currently on gigbit internet and got 7.8MB/s download speed, and cant remember how to fix it. There is a way, cant seem to find it online at the moment if anyone else knows.

This doesn't seem to work any more

When you convert Basic/Personal to Family (or add a Personal code whilst on Family) it now prorates it at 85% for personal. Still a good deal as you can get Personal codes for £26 on cjs cdkeys which is still a great saving but the old days of loading up 4 years on Personal and converting for £8 seem to be gone.

Remember those days a product was just the product that would just work, because it would 'work'? Thanks but I'll stick to the £5 keys instead!!
