Nice price. I put together a small AM4 build just over a year ago with a 5600. My plan is to upgrade with the last and best chip for the platform in a couple of years time. They'll be less than £100 by then.

AM4 with fast DDR4 RAM is more than enough for anything this generation. With the pathetic low bandwidth and lack of improvements outside of raw grunt from the current "top" GPUs, AM5 is rather pointless. It also doesn't help with the biggest issue in PC gaming today. Shader compilation stutter.

I don’t disagree with quite a few points you say.
But if Im building a new PC today (mid-top range), I would go with AM5, as the prices have gone down to build a AM5 system.
And a 7600x is similar performance with 5800x3d.

Regarding waiting a year or a 2, to get a top end AM4 CPU, unless you going for “used”, top end EOL CPUs usually hold their prices. (edited)

We need a 5700X for around the £120 mark, these "old" Zen 3 chips are massively outperformed by their Zen 4 successors. If you look around you can get a 7500F for around £150 that will more or less be equal to the 5800X3D.

It's still good if you are on AM4 but I wouldn't build a new system based upon it.

The difference between the 5600 and the 58003D is smaller than that of an old i5 2400 Vs 2500. The 3D cache is a great advantage when it is actually used, but that's not often. Outside of that, the difference is incredibly small.

This runs sweet with my 3060 Ti. Heat

It's nearly time to upgrade from an i7 4790k methinks, this looks like a decent upgrade path :/
