Aldi is more honest. They sell UK lamb for the same price as Sainsbury's New Zealand lamb. UK lamb has a higher production cost because of our welfare standards. I bet Sainsbury's lamb is 90% cheap New Zealand meat. (edited)

to get this price, do you have to have a nectar card and somehow scan it while buying , as it is at Tesco?
    Sorry, I don't shop at Sainsbury's

Yes, it's easy to sign up in-store and use right away though so don't let that put you off

Do they typically stay this price throughout, or do they reduce them to clear near the end?

If the store over orders like ours and many others did in the run up to Xmas there may be bargains to be had, whole leg for under £10

Why is this showing £13 on the sainsburys website

£13 is for the average leg. I would say smallest they have, as a 2.3kg barely fits my slow cooker - cooking as we speak. This was the smallest/shortest I could find..

It is £6.50 per kilo Nectar price. (edited)

Lovely! One of my two legs of lamb per year.

I only buy at Easter and Christmas. Not paying full price, I'm not a millionaire

Is the second leg at home or away?

No Scottish or Welsh lamb, or even English lamb, just British.

Plenty in Swindon, end of isle as opposed to meat section. Guessing most larger Sainsbury's will do the same.

I am trying that Ras El Hanout spice slow cooker recipe someone suggested. I did add onions, garlic and ginger, as well as the El Hanout spice. I also used Pasata instead of tinned toms, and plan to chuck some frozen peas in at the end. Guessing it could do with some dried fruit to go with the chickpeas, but I don't have any...

Will freeze most I think - single bloke... Easy defrost for Easter Sunday to accompany the booze and smoked salmon and scrambled egg breakfast. (edited)
