Never a good sign when the description doesn't mention any of the components

This bike has cropped up before and I think it's Microshift gearing. The one thing that is obvious is the front chainring is a lot bigger than the largest cog on the rear. If I was guessing I would say something like 42T at the front and 34T at the rear so there is no very low gearing on this bike typical of a gravel bike. However it looks like a long cage derailleur so I suspect you could easily fit a 10 speed 11-46T or 11-50T cassette on the rear to give it the true gearing range it needs. You'll probably have to factor in another £30 on top for that but if you removed the existing cassette before use I guess you might get £15-20 for that if you are lucky. A later upgrade could be semi-hydraulic disc brakes the type that activate with oil but use normal cables. It might be possible to also increase the rotor size too to increase braking performance further. It seems a fantastic value bike to me given the spec.

Here is a review of the Scree and the gearing is even worse than I thought only a 11-28T cassette so that really needs upgrading straight away unless you have legs that look like Popeye's arms or someone who makes Chris Froome look obese. Apart from the gearing range I would say a generally positive review. From their comments perhaps a 11-46T or 11-50T cassette might be pushing it but I feel a 11-42T cassette would work and at least you would have low gearing of 1:1. Also with its strong steel front fork I reckon it would be compatible with a front hub motor without issues.

I bought this bike on a past deal (2m ago), and I am happy with it.
I had a Rockrider 100 (entry level mb for £200) 2 years ago, and for the same price this is a far better option, even better than the second hand options I could find online with my budget.

Maybe not the first option for bike lovers, but for this price was perfect option for me (just commuting to work).

Never heard of a gravel bike. It looks like a road bike though, with the curved handles

Gravel / Adventure bikes should have a better geometry and gearing setup for gravel / gentle off-road paths. Google them.

Schwinn not what they were, think now owned by one of the Chinese mass producers. Looked at one of their kids bikes today and while price was low all the components were of cheapest quality and frame was really heavy, so you get what you pay for.

Worth reading the review shared by and see that this particular model seems to be punching above its price point

Mike Ashley seems to be single handedly saving the British retail industry. Brilliant businessman!

Is this a good option for entry level to cycle with kids (5 years)? Can you add mudguards, if yes any recommendations? I'm just looking for something decent for occasional trips with kids on and off road. Thanks in advance.

Yes this is a good option.

While there are rack mounts and mudguard mounts at the rear, the Schwinn doesn’t have front mudguard mounts. That means that any bottle put in the cage mount under the down tube is going to get filthy even more quickly.
