what do people's experience recommend - Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 or ACCENTUM Wireless ?? (edited)

Recently I've trialled the Sennheiser Momentum 4, Sennheiser Accentum (not the Plus version with gesture touch controls only), and the Sony WH-1000XM5's.
I have settled on the Sennheiser Accentum's, and returned the other 2.

    Reasons why...

Sony WH-1000XM5 (£189 brand new direct from Sony UK): problems with overheating ears after a short period of listening time, plus headband gets painful due to lack of sufficient padding. Earpad material and inner padding seems cheap and cannot compete with Sennheiser. To spend a significant amount of money didn't justify keeping them just because "What Hi-fi" and others absolutely adore them.
All of these I managed to get as really good deals recently via this app/site in the last 6 weeks.

Sennheiser Momentum 4 (£189 refurbs): Problem with the r/h earcup which has an infrared sensor inside it to detect when you take off and put on the headphones, for stopping and restarting music or media. Basically it didn't work over 50% of the time. That then also caused problems with the earcup gesture/swipe touch controls stopping working. The only way you could fix it was by going into the phone app to reset 2 setting;, however both problems made the headphones ridiculous to use unfortunately, as there are no buttons and everything relies on the gesture touch controls.
Whilst I may have been unlucky with my pair, the infrared sensor on-head detection problem is unfortunately a known bug. Some have been able to resolve by carefully cleaning the sensor, however it's the risk you take when buying these on my opinion, whether refurbished or new. Personally the cost and longevity would be my concern for others.

Sennheiser Accentum's (£96 open box Richer sounds deal). I'll start off this the negatives. 1)For the first 2 weeks using these the "clamping force" of the headland was a bit tight. Now it's fine. Only time this could be an issue is for anyone with a rather large head :). 2)volume sensitivity is not as loud as thc other 2, but for me it's fine.
ANC is not a good as the other 2 sets mentioned. However the seal around your ears is very good which add to the noise reduction.
    The plus points:
    - They have button controls, to control everything. This is huge for me, when compared to the Momentum 4's. They just work, reliably and consistently.
    - The sound quality is very good. An exciting listen. also, my in my opinion is not hugely different to the Momentum 4's.
    - build quality is also fantastic, almost as good as the Momentum 4's. They add well made, and feel like they are going to last.
    - 50 hour battery (10 less than the Momentum 4's).

If anyone is considering the Sennheiser Accentum's, I would wait until the price comes down again closer to £100, or you can get a refurb or open box deal as I did. (edited)

Not sure I can recommend these.
Bought first pair of refurbished. from Sennheizer direct and had to return as faulty. They lasted 2 hrs before they started having connection issues, tried various things including factory reset but no luck. Had to return.
Bought a second pair from Amazon. These had less connection issues however:
What really bugs me is it's autostart function. You take them out and straight away it tries to connect to 2 previous paired devices. Even if you don't want to. Obviously it's got multi connection. You put them back in the case and they turn off by themselves. Great, auto start and auto stop you say. However, as soon as you move the case it tries to pair again. So you put the case in your rucksack and they constantly try to pair to your phone or other devices.
This auto start/stop sound good on paper but in practice drive you crazy.
Also while in use with one device it just has to connect to other devices, even if you don't want to. So you're constantly fiddling unpairing the devices you don't need in that moment. Even though it does not care and tries to pair again.
Tried taking calls, sound is good but struggles with multipoint.
    They are not all bad.
Build quality is top notch. You feel the quality.
Sound is amazing. So natural. Great for music but also for watching movies. Cleanest sound I've seen in pair of headphones, even though probably would like a bit more loud.
App is good with lots of options.
    However returned these as well.
The software is rubbish and drives you mad.
As an alternative I can recommend Technics A800.
Not as plush, and sound not a great as the Momentum 4 but they just work.
Multipoint is effective, sound good, comfortable, ok not as pretty. All round good package
