Tears for Fears debut album 'The Hurting' was released on 7 March 1983, and peaked at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart in its second week of release. The album reached Platinum status in January 1985. The album contains Tears for Fears' first three hit singles - 'Mad World', 'Change', and 'Pale Shelter' - all of which reached the top five in the UK. This half speed was engineered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios using a half-speed mastering technique which produces a superior vinyl cut.

Darn, that is a better deal. I didn't check HMV as usually so expensive. That's a deal in it's own right. Thanks for the spot

I was working in a record shop in the Tottenham Court Road when this came out - on a Monday we would usually put on the new releases to have a listen. I was out the back when someone put side one on - such a brilliant start to a song and an album that I remember coming around to the front of the shop to see who it was. Great album but sadly they never recovered from having such a great starting point IMHO (edited)
