I purchased this TV and it arrived yesterday. Wow I didn't realise how big this thing would be!

The TV is easy to setup and the operating system seems to run pretty quickly. My favourite feature so far is the Alexa button on the remote, you get everywhere fast.

4k HDR content looks amazing on this screen and it is a huge upgrade from our previous TV.

What I will say though is that 1080p or below content doesn't look the best on this screen as expected and it may be worth upgrading Netflix to a 4k package for better resolution and HDR.

The speakers aren't the best to be honest but I'm using a sound bar from my previous setup so that isn't a problem for me.

Thanks for the update and mini-review, will show my sister (who's finished decorating, it turns out)..Surprised about the sound as it was mentioned as a plus in the Telegraph's review.

Was thinking the OS would be quite clunky but it doesn't sound as if you're having any issues with it. (edited)

People need to stop generalising on Brand or technology to make a decision.
BRANDS are just the licence to sell the name, they often share MANUFACTURERS and components specifically, the screens.
And TECHNOLOGY is not always implemented implemented to the same extent and is a range. QLED and the kids amount of backlight zones differ widely between panels, and same with all this Dolby rubbish which is just licensing to meet a standard but manufacturers have to pay for that testing.

Basically, just use RTINGS for proper reviews, or watch a YouTube video from someone like Linus Tech Tips if you need an explainer on the tech.

This is a good deal for the price for a budget TV, and that is the only generalisation to make. There is always the point of diminishing returns on investment and this is probably just before the plateau at this price.

If you're strapped for cash and barely watch TV, then once the content gets going you'll be fine as the consent will be meaningful. You were fine for years on whatever crapper TV this is replacing anyway.

If you want better quality, then don't look at a budget TV and spend more.

We've recently just moved into a new place and need a 65" TV for our space; I'd appreciate thoughts on how this would compare to the TCL C645 (or Hisense A7K/E7K) in terms of picture quality/performance - both of which are the budget/starting QLED offerings of respective brands.

Not too fussed about the Firmware as we will use Chromecast/HDMI exclusively (not native apps).

Nobody can really offer a comparison unless they own all three sets - you'd need to look up reviews or visit a retailer who can demo them for you.

What makes it trickier is that there's not a lot of online reviews about this QLED QF5D Toshiba (or even stores that are selling this model), but a visit to John Lewis might help - if you can get to one. Argos has this as well. Bear in mind there's an LED version of this, UF3D. (edited)

Have Vestel tv’s improved recently ?
    louiselouise's avatar
    Author
I dunno, maybe Vestel handed over a brown envelope full of notes before The Telegraph hit publish

Seriously, though, I haven't seen one in person so can't say. This sounds like good bang for buck if you don't have a huge budget - or a spare room telly.

There was a recent thread suggesting the 55" is £315 in store at (St Austell) Tesco - not sure if that would be national. (edited)

I usually add a picture of a TV's remote control as it's something I'd want to see if I was thinking of buying it. But all I can find for this QF5D TV are replacement remotes.

This is the Toshiba 43UF3D remote (also a Fire TV), so it may be similar to this? Think the Toshiba QF5D is from the same generation of tellies.52172407-wlQMX.jpgAlso like to add pictures of the back of the TV (and ports) but decent images of this QF5D are thin on the ground! (edited)

Insane deal for a 65" qled with a JL 5 year warranty.

    Excellent OP 👏
  10. gt1915's avatar
I think I might take this, because its got the warranty & even after it expires JL are good in assisting with care, I need something actually for my PC and sometimes watching something so this is ideal.

I'm confident that will go faulty in 2/3 yrs the vertical line is one of the most common faults on these sets, I know its Vestel lol

I don't think there are any codes for discount sadly. Thanks OP

Toshiba TVs are rubbish and stop working soon after the 1 year warranty period ends. Save your money and buy something better.

    What do you suggest
  13. apf777's avatar
    hi

as asked with the other bush qled, if anyone has bought this, can you post to say if the screen is reflective or not, and give overall view as whether it is worth a buy or not

    many thanks

I bought it, will arrive in 2 weeks, this is just like a TV for the guest room, my main TV is £1,600 lol but people complain about the start up because its FireTV its latching onto the Internet all the time etc

I think this is perfect for a low spec TV which I will use for my PC and watching minimal TV etc I sold my Hisense bought in Sept 2021 as I did not like their OS and interface it was poor, it was £549 from RS sold it for £450 plus their 6 yr warranty helped my buyer whose local.

I would never touch a TV without a 5 yr warranty ever, I need that peace of mind.

Let us know what you think of it! My sister was poised to buy this but last I heard she was decorating and carpeting her living room first....

Was OOS from John Lewis for a while but available to buy again. Amazon usually price-match but they maybe haven't caught up yet.

Sister's washing machine crapped out in the interim so she's postponed getting a TV for a while. (edited)
