Novice here because I've always used isp routers. Does this completely replace my sky router?
    tomtomasz's avatar
No, it's a RT model so no modem, you need a DSL model to get modem in it

Does this replace the ISP hub (SKY)?
    Subsh's avatar
it can not replace the modem function of the "ISP hub"
but it can replace wifi/routing function

i need to replace my mum's ancient EE ADSL router. Would this work? If not, any good ADSL options out there instead?
    StaceyQ's avatar
Doesn't support ADSL. Get EE to send their Smart Hub Plus.

Does anyone know if this would work with Vodafone City fibre? the router they supply is terrible and I get lag spikes all the time while gaming
    StaceyQ's avatar
Yes but might be Vodafone network itself not the crap Vodafone router.

Would this work with community fibre? This or AX3000 posted earlier for £75? Thanks

Doesn't make a difference who your provider is.

Replaced my ISP crap with this & really really happy.

Very nice app & covers our 3500sq ft house well (I have repeaters on the 3rd floor but for speed rather than not having any wifi like my old router)

    This is my ISP router

Great find, thank you. Been looking to move away from virgin hub 3 and dip my toes into this world of owning a router. Let's see how it goes!
    davelister301's avatar
Thinking of doing the same, let me know how it goes please

Good spot, Typically been available at ~ £59.99
Now a little old in the tooth for "new" stuff, but wifi 6 and supported by openwrt [OpenWrt Wiki] TP-Link Archer AX23 (subject to disk space constraints), so note the caveat on reverting to OEM after a OpenWRT install!
Rumoured to get warm, but in all honestly, what consumer wifi router doesn't these days!

Tempted does it have many features in the app like parental control etc ?
    Wolfsbane2k's avatar
I seem to recall tp-link charge extra for parental controls.

Pity these don’t work with their Deco Mesh systems :/

Also does one mesh support wired backhaul yet? (edited)
    Kay135's avatar
Wow you just answered my question. Do any support the Deco mesh system?

I’ve just bought a second hand Asus AC2900. Would this be significantly better for pcvr on quest 3, Or should I keep hold of what I have?
  13. Rob29311011's avatar
shame no DSL port as im on EE
  14. Starbuck26's avatar
Anyone know if this works with Vodafone City Fibre please?
    tomtomasz's avatar
If you have a separate modem for the fibre then it would plug into that one and fine for home network

What’s the best router for a large house
    slipd's avatar
Have a look at their Deco Mesh stuff

Got this as the router provided by my ISP (NoOne Internet).

Handles symmetrical gigabit quite well, but you can tell it's a budget router.

Pro tip: turn OFF the "smart" WiFi feature, it does not work very well and will lead to constant WiFi dropouts and extra strain on the poor CPU for no actual benefit.

I turned off the 2.4ghz band entirely afterwards and it's been very stable, but I would rename this band and leave it separate to your 5ghz and only use it for any smart home tat you have. Leave 5ghz for all your main devices.

I have mine set to automatically restart at 3am every day to clear the crap out. Many say this isn't needed with modern routers, but my BQM graphs say otherwise.

So far it's only Google's Nest routers that haven't needed restarts for me, but sadly Google is so far behind that they don't support VLan tagging, which is what CityFibre rely on.
