  • Trawler is a blend of mature rums from Guyana and Barbados, two of the finest rum producing countries in the world
  • Before blending, each rum is aged in oak casks in its country of origin, to bring out its full character and flavour. The rums are then carefully blended to produce a delicious high quality dark rum
  • Fully Matured in Oak Casks
  • 70cl | ABV 40 Percent

Watsons Trawler rum has a light nose with soft brown sugar, sultanas and spice, bitter sweet on the tongue with hints of dark chocolate in the finish.

In case you couldn’t tell from the name or rather nautical packaging, Watson’s Trawler Rum is a Navy style dark rum, marrying spirits from Barbados and Guyana. The rums have been aged in their countries of origin, before they’re blended together in the UK. A great mixing tipple that should do very well with ginger beer and a good wedge of lime.

Watson’s Trawler Rum is another dark navy style rum from “up north”. Scotland has a real tradition when it comes to rum. Watson’s Trawler Rum is produced by Ian MacLeod Distillers who can count Glengoyne and Sheep Dip (whiskies) in their portfolio. Trawler rum is a blend of Demerara and Bajan rum. The information on the rear label states that both the Demerara and Bajan rums in the blend are matured in the tropics and then brought to the UK to be blended together. Watson’s is quite an old brand and has been in production for over 100 years.

Tasting Note by Master of Malt
Nose
Thick, tarry molasses notes on the nose. This also offers up cinnamon and dates.
Palate Coffee beans, spice and dark treacle. A rich, thick, slightly spirity palate.
Finish Develops on oak and fragrant woods.

As a fan of demerera rums I have a soft spot for Trawler Rum, especially when discounted. There is no short changing on the ABV front, and being a tad sweet, it might get some to enjoy sipping. Other than that it is an excellent all round mixer which has that frothy thing going on when mixed with coke/diet coke that one only seems to get from demerera rums. Heat (edited)
