Great deal for the original classic movie on Blu-Ray
clarkes1990

Battlestar being rebooted again next year, by the creator of Mr Robot. not much details about the reboot, but rumoured that it could be a tie in or set in the same universe as Ronald D Moore’s reboot

JOHNNY_WILKINSON

Great 70's nostalgia! also films such as The Black Hole and The Last Starfighter etc etc...obviously the Special Effects aint up to today's standards...but they have a charm of their own.

I'm thinking of buying Gladius. Seems like plenty of gfx cards (especially notebooks) have issues though. Has anyone had any luck buying, trying, and refunding directly from steam, and then buying a key for the same game from a reseller?

If there is a time limit to prepare your turn, as there is with the PC version then this will make a difference. Particularly if playing the Cylons. Even with keyboard and mouse shortcuts I have sometimes run out of time.

painstick

Thanks for the reply Nicoz, that's very helpful. I'll pick this up then and hook up a keyboard and mouse to the PS4, that's a very cool idea. Best of both worlds! Plus I do love cheese! :)

nicozdeal

I tried the game yesterday and personally, so far, I am hooked. It's a bit like a 3D chess with spaceships. You order all your units to do what you want them to do and then they all resolve their actions at the same time. You are right @painstick it is a bit slow with the controller, but I don't mind it too much. However looking at the options/settings you will notice the game actually supports a mouse (USB or Bluetooth) - the fact that it is 'turn' based does not give you any real advantage over online play. What really hooked me to BSG Deadlock is that at the end of every level, you get to watch a cinematic replay of the whole battle. It's so cheesy that it is great! ^^

painstick

Tempted by the price but looking at video reviews of gameplay this game ui would appear to favour mouse control so not sure about playing Deadlock on console. Please let me know how you get on if you play it with a gamepad. Great price though so heat added.

painstick

Haha! Galactica 1980 was such a terrible spin-off show, but maybe a flying motorbike console game is what we need? :)

So what you're saying is that for barely more than 2 months price of Amazon prime you can get the complete series on Bluray, and thus have the opportunity to re-watch it or lend it out to a friend, and in better quality. You're absolutely right. Considering it would probably take most people a couple of months of pretty intensive Amazon Prime use watching it, it obviously makes sense to get this Bluray set. Thanks.

The entire show with the exception of a couple of TV movies are on Amazon Prime which is £7.99 a month.

True, the ending and the episodes leading up to it were the weakest part of the whole series but I still think the writers did a better job of that it than the final season of GoT.

The entire frakkin series including the essential 3 hour pilot. Still one of the best scifi series ever. So say we all.
SimyJo

Between 3rd and 4th, or 4th and final I think; ..... "Only the first 12 episodes of season four (including Razor, which is technically the first two episodes of the 22 ordered for season 4[3]) were filmed before the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike halted production of all scripted TV shows". .... Also: aliensoup.com/threads/what-the-writers-strike-did-for-bsg.465/

jimel

Which season was that?

SimyJo

Out of the whole boxset, there is only one iffy season, and that was because it suffered through a Hollywood writers strike. The producers apologised for it. Otherwise an excellent reimagining of Battlestar Galactica.

Omnivoracity

Any fans of this who like podcasts might enjoy Battlestar Galacticast, co-hosted by Tricia Helfer and Marc Bernardin

Even in the 1980s BSG the original series (ToS) was recognised as a cynical attempt to cash in on Star Wars - hardly the exemplary show which you describe. As it happens I like both interpretations of the show (ToS) and the modern reimagining. Both have their merits, both have some limitations. I have watched both in their entirety more than once so I feel qualified to say they are both great fun. I don't follow your reasoning about Sheepl, Pakistani skills or Mark Kermode but it sounds like a highly entertaining conspiracy. Perhaps you aren't a fan boy, maybe you and all your acquaintances who found the modern version to be a borefest are arbiters of good sci-fi. Or, you are nostalgic for a show you enjoyed in the eighties and unwilling to embrace anything which might (whisper it) be better. The modern version is better written, better shot and more exciting than its forebear. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a tightly plotted sci-fi show and implore them to ignore the trolls and the haters.

omendata

Fanboy lol Cgi cylons - not scary and dont have personality - you obviously havent watched much of the old series epsecially the episode where starbuck gets stranded with a cylon and rewires it and it becomes an ally - quality stories from the first episode on Caprica and how they took the old series and completely changed it - call me a purist f you will but do not insult me by calling em a fanboy - be polite if you can if you want to debate! You are one of the sheepl - you believe anhything you lot - critically accalimed lol by who? People like Kermode or the producers who pay the shills in Pakistan to big it up - you lot really do believe everything you read! The new series is so up its own backside , hardly any action at all pointless dialogue they even threw in a bit of blonde fluff to increase the male viewers and the concepts they used to minimize the cost off special effects, moddelling and the cylons themselves. No need to resort to calling me names i just remember times when cinema was actually clever and excitingt with good special effects that look real and involve the viewer - i suspect you wouldnt say the same of the troopers in Star Wars or Darth! The cylon ships , design of the fighters and motherships, baltar and all of the things that made Battelstar the great series it was is totally missing from the overhyped new series which everyone i know found a complete borefest! :{

ColinChisholm

"The modern garbage version" - I feel sorry for you. The critically acclaimed modern reimagining of BSG is fantastic. I like the original too. Stop being a fan boy

Master_Yoda

Yeh, but it wasn't sufficient at all to satisfy me. The original music used to give me goosebumps - they don't make music like that anymore.

spoo

They did briefly but not as the main theme. It was used in a scene in the pilot, I think it was supposed to be the national anthem of the 12 colonies, quite a nice touch I thought.

Upset is a bit OTT. It's just a poor move invading a thread purely to shout "in your opinion!", as if it is some huge revelation that it is in fact.....yes, an opinion. Completely pointless. Who cares if someone doesnt rate the show? This deal is for people who do, and those who are yet to experience it. It's pure whiney attention seeking.
