Agreed Xen thought the remake was slow and boring, give me this anytime, retro and imaginative (y)
Might be down to a case of nostalgia bias, but I never took to the remake - pretentious and contrived - and still find the original entertaining.
Cheers chanchi, been holding out for this box set for a while (y)
It probably is in many ways, but it's also pretty hard to compare the knockabout action of the 70's series with the grim and philosophical approach of the remake. Dirk Benedict's Starbuck was at least as good as Katee Sackhoff's version, but in a completely different way. Probably the only decent episode of Galactica 1980 was the 'Return of Starbuck' which was a bit like the plot from the 80's film Enemy Mine.
A rare case of the remake being better. I still like the originals though, stormtroopers had nothing on cylons in terms of looking ominous.
Hmm, yeah this one is listed as Aspect Ratio 4:3 - 1.33:1, just looking for info on the definitive edition. Edit: it's the same for the definitive edition apparently: amazon.co.uk/Battlestar-Galactica-Definitive-Collection-Blu-ray/dp/B00Q2OQNCM
I’m sure I read somewhere that one version is in 4:3. And the other 16:9
Much better than the remake.
At first glance that version sounds like it just has the movie included over this one, is only for the US and is around £50: Edit: The movie can be had on zoom for £11.54: https://www.zoom.co.uk/product/battlestar_galactica_blu_ray The ultimate collection for the classic series that launched one of the most beloved sci-fi franchises of all time, enjoy Battlestar Galactica in both its original television format and in widescreen format for the first time – all in high-definition! Battlestar Galactica: The Original Movie: The original movie that started it all, this theatrical version of the pilot episode includes several alternate scenes different from the televised version. uphe.com/tv/battlestar-galactica-the-definitive-collection
That's not what I ment. They released 2 versions of the original. Edit..... Found it....
Ewww! Galactica 1980 is a very low budget spin-off from the original series. I don't think it should be considered a 'final season' of Battlestar Galactica as the production values were significantly lower for this show. The only episode worth seeing is the very last one 'Starbuck'...worth £3 just for that episode. Heat added! :)
I totally agree. Given the Start Wars nonsense was still current this was a breath of fresh air at the time. "By your command"

Galactic 80 - what an absolute piece of s—t and I’m a huge Battlestar fan (old and new series). Save your £3 or park your brain before inserting DVD into the player.
What he said.
Nice one for the tips! I had no idea it was this cheap! Returns and refunds for me then.
Original Battlestar Galactica was better.
It's usually about £25 and zavvi has lost my custom over cancelling the ps4 pro ltd edt
This started off so well, I remember the 1st series being stellar, then it really got awful from the midpoint onwards. Think I have the whole boxset on HD DVD but nothing to play it on!
Just started watching Battlestar Galactica from the start again for the 5th or 6th time recently 👌
Correct. Galactica 1980 should be considered a different show. A super low budget continuation, but vastly inferior apart from that one episode finale featuring Starbuck. £4.10 from Zoom says here. Expected it to be cheaper than that, check your local charity shops maybe? Galactica 1980 was utter felgercarb! Barry Van Dyke went on from it to see off Airwolf in series 4...what other shows did he help kill off I wonder?
This is the best version. (y)
It looks like it doesn't include the 1980 episodes despite the word 'complete', I'm basing that on the episode list
This got any X1X enhancements
Yeah good episode and that speech by Lee Adama was one of the best I've seen on TV.
The end of Season 3 was my favourite, the two Crossroads episodes <3
I'm actually jealous 😏
This is a "meh" strategy game and a fantastic tactics game.
Even at this price I would not recommend it, it's very dull even for turn based with no real tutorial beyond telling you where to jump. Battles consist of lots of slow maneuverung then attrition combat. Fighters take forever to do anything. Battlefleet gothic is better though it's real time. Combat is not like in the show.
It's very repetitive after a short while and there's only one way of playing it successfully. It's also yet another copy paste game from Slitherine Ltd as its Star Hammer: The Vanguard Prophecy in battle-star Galactica clothing with a slightly updated engine.
Is it any good?
Shame it's only this price in the blue!
I got one copy..my son played it and said it was great. I was gonna buy a second to play multiplayer but the deal expired. Anyhow may as well ask now for when it's on offer again: can you do LAN multiplayer without any stupid faffing about with ports etc?
Looks like a more modern version of homeworld one of the best space rts ever made.....in fact looks like you can get a BSG mod for homeworld....
Sometimes, you've gotta roll the hard six.
Battlestar Galactica Deadlock Review "Buy, Wait for Sale, Rent, Never Touch?" Battlestar Galactica Deadlock Review
I take it this is the PC remake not the original.
Oh didn't know this, and I'm a Prime member, thanks!!! :)
Not the greatest show on television. Can be extremely slow in parts, especially between Gaius and 6. Enjoyable and a decent price though.
Well I didn't like it. Not voted.
the original is always the best and the awful special effects made it even better ;)
Gone up £2 now
the one with 'the Wolfman', ow-ow-owwwwwww. classic. love the way in these old series they reuse the same clips over and over and ov.....
Do you have to pay more if you want a version without Galactica 1980? (although the last episode makes it worth having I guess). 1978 BG > 2004 BG >>>>>>> BG1980
By your command...
Agreed. Girlfriend hates scifi but loved this show.
Excellent. I brought this box set when it was last around £20. I am older enough to have watched the original series. This is a great series and excellent value for the box set. Loved the new version of Starbuck in this new series.
Hot - "So Say We All"
Yep, watched it all. A good ending, I just thought it meandered and there was a lot of filler and little action. Better than most TV and a good deal. Great acting.
Still stays at £23 for me
The best sci-fi series ever in my humble opinion, and as much I enjoy game of thrones, this one is better despite being much lower budget
the only blu ray set i've ever bought to use with the free player that came with my TV.
This is fracking hot.
FRACK IT.the best character in this is the scientist him out of bridget jones diary
So the answer is no.
It’s been £18.99 in the last few months, not a good deal unfortunately
This is a great price for people who want to watch the greatest sci-fi series ever on their Apple devices
Itunes will never be a good price on any of the stuff you are posting. amazon, cex, now tv, etc will be the best places to get a deal on this stuff
Can't decide between this and a fuchai glow 🤔..
Having looked at the web site Q&A i *think* it is something to do with vaping... so only for the cool kids.. 8)
So what is it?
Nice film and yes very poor ending. The space fight SFX scenes are one of the best during that time.
Quality series but £20 notes for a load a zero's and ones, rather pay an extra tenner and get the physical Bluray disk set
Great series just bit of a poorer ending than I expected over the last 2 or so episodes..
Great show, well worth it if you haven't t seen it.
Great series just lost its way after the writers strike back in the day.
Nice! Gone for it.
it says that unfortunately, the manufacturer has not yet announced an estimated delivery date.
Thanks, +4.2% topcashback
I loved both series! New and old
Much better than the updated new version in my opinion
Great first deal, OP.
Banana in the tailpipe!
no i cannot
