Battlestar showing as 28 now

COLD 25% off has already been posted so their ebay prices would obviously match. 10% off eBay has already been posted.

The new Battlestar galactica is seriously tempting. The first 2 seasons are my favourite of any sci-fi show but then it began to fall off a cliff by season 3 and by season it landed. (party) Heat

Bought a few sets after comparing pricing to Amazon. After the 25% and the Pinchme code it did work out cheaper for me. (y)

I bought Bless This House from the website before this promotion came on. I paid £9 with the '10% with sign-up to the newsletter' code. It's now on Zoom Ebay for £32 - seems they've hiked up the price on many boxsets just before this. Beware that the price might not be as good as you think!

Agreed Xen thought the remake was slow and boring, give me this anytime, retro and imaginative (y)

Might be down to a case of nostalgia bias, but I never took to the remake - pretentious and contrived - and still find the original entertaining.

Cheers chanchi, been holding out for this box set for a while (y)

It probably is in many ways, but it's also pretty hard to compare the knockabout action of the 70's series with the grim and philosophical approach of the remake. Dirk Benedict's Starbuck was at least as good as Katee Sackhoff's version, but in a completely different way. Probably the only decent episode of Galactica 1980 was the 'Return of Starbuck' which was a bit like the plot from the 80's film Enemy Mine.

A rare case of the remake being better. I still like the originals though, stormtroopers had nothing on cylons in terms of looking ominous.

Hmm, yeah this one is listed as Aspect Ratio 4:3 - 1.33:1, just looking for info on the definitive edition. Edit: it's the same for the definitive edition apparently:

I’m sure I read somewhere that one version is in 4:3. And the other 16:9

Much better than the remake.

At first glance that version sounds like it just has the movie included over this one, is only for the US and is around £50: Edit: The movie can be had on zoom for £11.54: The ultimate collection for the classic series that launched one of the most beloved sci-fi franchises of all time, enjoy Battlestar Galactica in both its original television format and in widescreen format for the first time – all in high-definition! Battlestar Galactica: The Original Series: Hopeful for lasting peace following centuries of intense warfare, the Twelve Colonies gather to sign a treaty with their dreaded enemies, the Cylons. But after an act of treachery on the eve of the ceremony, the Cylons launch a devastating surprise attack, destroying the Colonies' home planets and most of their military strength. A lone flagship battlestar, the Galactica, remains to aid the surviving colonists on their epic journey for a new home to a far-off legendary planet—Earth. Galactica 1980: The Complete Series: 30 years after the events of Battlestar Galactica, the original crew finally makes the long-anticipated descent to Earth. With time running out and the Cylons closing in on their trail, Commander Adama and the Galactica must work harder than ever before to help Earth create the technology necessary for battle. Battlestar Galactica: The Original Movie: The original movie that started it all, this theatrical version of the pilot episode includes several alternate scenes different from the televised version.

That's not what I ment. They released 2 versions of the original. Edit..... Found it....

I don't think this was considered to be that great but for BG completists, it's pretty cheap.

Ewww! Galactica 1980 is a very low budget spin-off from the original series. I don't think it should be considered a 'final season' of Battlestar Galactica as the production values were significantly lower for this show. The only episode worth seeing is the very last one 'Starbuck'...worth £3 just for that episode. Heat added! :)

I totally agree. Given the Start Wars nonsense was still current this was a breath of fresh air at the time. "By your command"

Original Battlestar Galactica was better.

This started off so well, I remember the 1st series being stellar, then it really got awful from the midpoint onwards. Think I have the whole boxset on HD DVD but nothing to play it on!

Correct. Galactica 1980 should be considered a different show. A super low budget continuation, but vastly inferior apart from that one episode finale featuring Starbuck. £4.10 from Zoom says here. Expected it to be cheaper than that, check your local charity shops maybe? Galactica 1980 was utter felgercarb! Barry Van Dyke went on from it to see off Airwolf in series 4...what other shows did he help kill off I wonder?

This is the best version. (y)

It looks like it doesn't include the 1980 episodes despite the word 'complete', I'm basing that on the episode list

This is a "meh" strategy game and a fantastic tactics game.

Even at this price I would not recommend it, it's very dull even for turn based with no real tutorial beyond telling you where to jump. Battles consist of lots of slow maneuverung then attrition combat. Fighters take forever to do anything. Battlefleet gothic is better though it's real time. Combat is not like in the show.

It's very repetitive after a short while and there's only one way of playing it successfully. It's also yet another copy paste game from Slitherine Ltd as its Star Hammer: The Vanguard Prophecy in battle-star Galactica clothing with a slightly updated engine.

Is it any good?

Excellent. I brought this box set when it was last around £20. I am older enough to have watched the original series. This is a great series and excellent value for the box set. Loved the new version of Starbuck in this new series.

Hot - "So Say We All"

Yep, watched it all. A good ending, I just thought it meandered and there was a lot of filler and little action. Better than most TV and a good deal. Great acting.
