Hate three. When you try to leave , they make you feel awful never using them again
    sdduk's avatar
You don't have to talk to them unless you are after a new deal then you would have to.

If you just want to leave then just Text:Pac to 65075 get you Pac and move your number to someone else.

You just give the Pac to your new provider and your account with three will be closed automatically.

I'm looking for advice. I'm planning to buy the iPhone 14 Pro Max when the iPhone 15 is released or announced next month.

What would be the best way (based on history) to purchase the older phone? Are we likely to see the current deals drop even further to clear stock or are the price drops already priced in given how close we are to release?

Alternatively, I know Samsumg offers deep discounts on it's flagships each year on Black Friday (which is when my current contract ends) so the other option I would have would be to wait until then for their deals.

I would not necessarily wait until *after* the iPhone 15 is released. Some retailers may be trying to clear inventory before the release of the iPhone 15 fearing that they will not have the right to sell it as a new device afterwards.

For example, last year, Apple withdrew all iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max from sale immediately on the day of the release of the 14 Pro / Pro Max. Apple themselves stopped selling any and any authorised retailers were only allowed to sell any left over stock as 'refurbished' phones.

However, some retailers preempted this by heavily discounting their new devices in the last couple of weeks before the release of the 14. For example, I seem to recall Amazon selling 1TB 13 Pro (or maybe 13 Pro Max) for £999 which was near £500 reduction and arguably a better deal than an iPhone 14 Pro 128GB for £1099 especially if you need the storage.

Why would you bother with the ball ache and waste of time returning multiple phones?

Just don’t use Id Mobile. I’m regretting it every minute. Poor signal, took a week to port my number over.

Anyone have any experience buying from website

Back Market? Would you recommend it?
    Lee_Woodward's avatar
A mate at work bought an s21 ultra from there any highly recommends them. They were cheaper than most other sites selling refurbs and the phone he bought was mint. Seen myself and can confirm his is immaculate. Assume he opted for excellent condition. Hope this helps

Mr Switch is the King of Mobile Deals!!!

I've gotta say I tend to look at mobile only deals these days due to the RPI + ~4% yearly price rises that really make the overall costs of these long contract much worse. (Plus lyca and lebara give a great, very low cost service so actual sim costs are very low)

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP MR SWITCH!!! (edited)
    wipeout's avatar
Completely agree, anyone who's taken out a contract for the last 2 years has been burned.

The worst thing is that they apply the increase to the whole amount - phone and airtime.

Even a 12 month sim only is far better - because you'll only have 1 increase on a much lower amount - normally £10-15 a month

Really tempted with the pixel 7 but concerned about the battery life and battery drain issues....can anyone recommend?
    theprofinuk's avatar
I wouldn't go near a pixel. I don't know about the 7, but my pixel 6 has been the worst phone ever. I don't mind the poor battery life, the getting hot and the underdelivering camera. But I do mind the inability to call, the dropped calls, the poor reception and the terrible customer support.
  12. Franchesca.Sdoyle's avatar
Are Pixels ok to buy now after the battery issue recently?
    coldo's avatar
I have had a pixel 7 from release and never had a battery issue , day to day battery life has been excellent so far .
  13. RobBraz's avatar
    Thanks for this.

Although I'm still not seeing the killer Magic 5 pro deal on Voda. It's a tight call between a Fonehouse deal (499 up front) or the Honor direct handset only with the freebies, and separate Lebara sim only.

Edit - Fonehouse deal OK. 499 up front, 16pcm so (bar annual rises) total £883. Possible TCB. Sell X8 for £100 takes it to £783. Say a decent sim-only deal (e.g. Lebara) is £10pcm so £240. Puts the phone at ~££550. Shame it doesn't include the case and wireless charger you'd get direct from Honor though. (edited)

    no yearly rises from lebara

BT Employees half price Z Fold or Z Flip phone currently. Have to recieve the offer email to get a 50% off code.
    MonkeyMan90's avatar
Can a BT employee share that code or is it only for that individual?

Can you cancel the contract and unlock the phone after? I need a phone but I have to go back to my country after a few months.
    Adam's avatar
14 day cancellation with most devices for the contract part, and new phones come factory unlocked as standard now too

  18. JuD_'s avatar
I so want a fold but I have be behaved and wait until this contract ends before I jump.
    Saif_Anwar's avatar
I would not get one. My experience hasn't been great. The front screen is way to small. I barely use the inner screen as it kept getting dusty and most of the apps aren't optimised even on Samsungs fold plus the cases and camera are not Equal to the price you pay I can't wait to go back to the s24 ultra next year
  19. Pinksparkles1973's avatar
I'm currently on a great Sim only deal with EE, all our phones at home are Sim only, we just buy new phones every few years, except daughters iPhone 13 which I got a great deal on comes with 160gb of data pay £20 p.month, don't want to leave EE cos I love the data gifting, just share her data to any of us running low.... I've currently got a Samsung S20 FE, looking to buy possibly the Pixel 7 Pro, really like the erase feature.... (so I can erase my highly annoying mother in law out of my pictures!!!)
Haha only joking (or am I?)
Don't know whether to stick with Samsung or go for the Pixel..... decisions decisions

Nice work tho Switchy, really appreciated! (edited)

could anyone offer some advice please. currently have a p30 pro and love it but time has come for a change. so pixel 7 pro or honor magic 5 pro?
also I can't get a contract so what's the best way to get the best price.
    thank you
    The_narrow_path's avatar
Get the Honor Magic 5 pro, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, the Huawei P60 Pro (no native Google Play, but can be siloaded) or Samsung S23 Ultra. Avoid Pixels (the Tensor ones) at all costs.
  21. Mrs_Trend's avatar
I've had my eye on the pixel 7 pro due to mainly using my phone as a camera. I see it not being favour much.
I don't want to spend a fortune each month, cost of living etc.
Any decent camera phones recommended instead?
    porkchopkid's avatar
I have a Poco f3. Camera is decent enough in daylight but like a lot of phones it's poor at night. Best camera I ever had was hauwei mate 20 pro may be worth seeing if you could pick up a cheap one
  22. Phil_Smithf4B's avatar
After 2.5 yrs my Oppo X3 is struggling. Spoke to current provider EE as I'm keen to go for the Oppo X5, however they were wanting silly money Anything over £35 is out!

I'm after an android phone with good battery and the usual NFC etc....any recommendations? I may actually get another X3! (edited)

Majestic Megathread without a doubt involving lot of work what with various handsets, different suppliers, contract lengths, upfront charges or not, codes, people's preferred networks etc. Head hurts just reading and deciding on a contract. Think of the compiler. Appreciated.
    saucymonk's avatar
    LOL, love it!
  24. fishmaster's avatar
I'll be waiting for Samsung S24 Ultra but just wanted to appreciate the effort put into this Megathread. It's all too easy to be a negative snide social media lowlife and just post a negative comment for the sake of it, which is human nature to instantly have an opposing view it appears. People with nothing to say but everything to say that is negative. So fheck those people, peace and love and flowery niceness to you MrSwitch.

This is the official MrSwitch positively post Anyone that doesn't like it do one!

I've been reading the next S24 series could be making a return of both Snapdragon and Exynos variants, so if that's the case, it's likely Europe will get the Exynos.
That would put me off going forward, currently have the S23 ultra, and battery life and Snapdragon processor is excellent
  25. Pete_OnB's avatar
    Good deals,

Nothing good enough that's worth the leap from my P30 Pro.

I've just got the Honor Magic 5 Pro.... by far the best phone I've had since I lost my P30 Pro. Recommend giving it a look if you're a P30 Pro fan.

I don't suppose you could advise me. I have a Huawei Mate 20 Pro. I still afore this phone but I've only gone and dropped it after all these years and now have a huge crack in it. Looking for my next phone but nothing seems to compare and really hoping to not spend a fortune (wouldn't have spent anything at and kept this had I not dropped it). Is the Honor 90 better and worth the jump do you think?

Just a heads up - the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra offer is no longer available. With the new release of the Samsung bits and bobs, is there a likelihood that the price of the S23 Ultra will come down?
