What would be the best way (based on history) to purchase the older phone? Are we likely to see the current deals drop even further to clear stock or are the price drops already priced in given how close we are to release?
Alternatively, I know Samsumg offers deep discounts on it's flagships each year on Black Friday (which is when my current contract ends) so the other option I would have would be to wait until then for their deals.
For example, last year, Apple withdrew all iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max from sale immediately on the day of the release of the 14 Pro / Pro Max. Apple themselves stopped selling any and any authorised retailers were only allowed to sell any left over stock as 'refurbished' phones.
However, some retailers preempted this by heavily discounting their new devices in the last couple of weeks before the release of the 14. For example, I seem to recall Amazon selling 1TB 13 Pro (or maybe 13 Pro Max) for £999 which was near £500 reduction and arguably a better deal than an iPhone 14 Pro 128GB for £1099 especially if you need the storage.
Back Market? Would you recommend it?
I've gotta say I tend to look at mobile only deals these days due to the RPI + ~4% yearly price rises that really make the overall costs of these long contract much worse. (Plus lyca and lebara give a great, very low cost service so actual sim costs are very low)
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP MR SWITCH!!! (edited)
The worst thing is that they apply the increase to the whole amount - phone and airtime.
Even a 12 month sim only is far better - because you'll only have 1 increase on a much lower amount - normally £10-15 a month
Although I'm still not seeing the killer Magic 5 pro deal on Voda. It's a tight call between a Fonehouse deal (499 up front) or the Honor direct handset only with the freebies, and separate Lebara sim only.
Edit - Fonehouse deal OK. 499 up front, 16pcm so (bar annual rises) total £883. Possible TCB. Sell X8 for £100 takes it to £783. Say a decent sim-only deal (e.g. Lebara) is £10pcm so £240. Puts the phone at ~££550. Shame it doesn't include the case and wireless charger you'd get direct from Honor though. (edited)
Haha only joking (or am I?)
Don't know whether to stick with Samsung or go for the Pixel..... decisions decisions
Nice work tho Switchy, really appreciated! (edited)
also I can't get a contract so what's the best way to get the best price.
thank you
I don't want to spend a fortune each month, cost of living etc.
Any decent camera phones recommended instead?
I'm after an android phone with good battery and the usual NFC etc....any recommendations? I may actually get another X3! (edited)
This is the official MrSwitch positively post Anyone that doesn't like it do one!
That would put me off going forward, currently have the S23 ultra, and battery life and Snapdragon processor is excellent
Nothing good enough that's worth the leap from my P30 Pro.
