TCL normally get quite good reviews and write ups, remember the panel is probably made by one of the main manufacturers and it's just the software etc that is TCL

TCL are a massive corporation with many subsidiaries. They are now the number 2 TV manufacturer in the world after Samsung.

They have their own LCD panel manufacturing in CSoT (China Star Optoelectronics Technology).

About a year ago, they purchased Samsung's entire LCD production in china along with all their IP and patients related to LCD technology.

This TV arrived today. Set up was seamless using an Android phone which ported over the WiFi near instantly. TV simply said open Google and type set up my device...the code on screen took care of it all.

I have an LG sound bar connected via optical, a Fire Cube via HDMI and and Switch via HDMI for the kids to play Mario Kart.

Honestly, I did not expect much for the price but the quality is far higher than my previous 48 inch TV Toshiba we have been using for several years.

The menu system is snappily responsive, the layout is well managed. Far better than FireOS.

So far, zero buyers remorse and with multiple children...£400 for a cinema like experience is absolutely cracking.

I dare not hang it on the drywall though, even with some excellent fixings. The weight of the bracket and the TV makes me nervous so I will live with the duck feet.

You sound as happy with it as we were.
It really is a great TV for that money.
I paid £430 when I bought it but that extra £30 doesn't bother me, it was still worth it. (edited)

I do like the couple of TCL tvs I have in terms of picture quality (both are QLED) and features however both have different issues that you should have to live with considering the cost of them.

One - has no built in iplayer and the occasionally their will be no audio so you have to do a full power off
Two - slow laggy Android interface that doesn’t update - when you turn this one on sometimes there is no picture so either have to press input button / hold power button down which then forces it to display a message (you are good to go then) or again a full power cycle.

Quite a few bad reviews on Amazon about this one

They are mainly with smashed screens, also people who tend to leave feedback are the ones with issues, and people with no issues don't tend to leave any feedback so it can be misleading (edited)

Jeez there's some miserable sods in the comments in here. £399 for a 65" telly.... May be better tellys out there... But it's cheap at the price and size

power consumption is 100-125W, there is an eco mode but does not state the power consumption, made in Poland as were the Technika brand, no idea if there is a connection but Tecknika were excellent for the money when sold thru Tesco years ago. Be better if they stripped out all the junk and just let people stick in Firesticks etc, basically same as a monitor except they don't do cheap monitors at this size. (edited)

Bought this exact TV a couple of Months ago (for £430) and it's been great.
Most of the apps people need are on it, and if there are some you want that don't come with the TV it's easy enough to download the APK's and install them yourself (use a YT guide if you're not sure how to).

It has local dimming (TCL call it 'local contrast' in the settings for some odd reason) and it works pretty well.
Picture quality and viewing angles are great, even the speakers are pretty good too.
    Can't fault it at all.

    Well worth the money.

Android isn't too slow on it, but if you do want to make it a bit snappier go to YouTube and search 'Speed up Android TV', there are a few videos that will show you how to tweak the settings and make it a bit quicker. (edited)

Is Android better on these now? A friend of mine has a 2021 TCL Android TV and the OS is slow af and you have little storage space to add more apps. It's a lagfest, and he has to clear the cache on apps frequently to speed it up.

The Hisense for £380 looks a better deal with full array dimming, unless I'm missing something 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hisense do a 65" with full array dimming for £380? Got a link - would be a bargain if the dimming and brightness are decent.

Voted hot for the size and price of this screen. Should be fine for non-HDR content, and you'd generally pay 2 or 3 times the price for something that can do an ok job with hdr

Brilliant price. Would have considered buying but waiting for Richer Sounds to address my warranty complaint for non-working 65" Hisense TV.
