    Gameplay is genuinely not bad now. Has come on massively since the terrible initial eFootball launch. Yes it's not like the haydays of PES, but currently the most enjoyable football game for gameplay

    Is it still possible to play pro evo 4,5 or 6.
    On a new TV 4k, or what do I need?
    I still have the games for the PS2 just don't think the ps2 works.

    If your TV doesn't have the older scart/red, yellow and white inputs, you'll either need a very rare and expensive model PS3 (don't bother) or a PS2 and a HDMi converter. Much cheaper and better option.

    The convertors don't cost a lot. I'll link the one I use below. It doesn't upscale the image. It just gets it onto your screen. Older games can look blurry when stretched over much bigger TV screens than most of us had back in the PS2 days. Your eyes do adjust when playing though.

    While efootball 2023 has been down for this annual update I've been playing Fifa 23. Gameplay wise, Efootball is a lot better than FIFA

    Whoever’s interested in a good version of pro evo, google “Football Life”. This is a free remake based on PES 2021 with gameplay enhancements. A lot of fun to play and no added BS. (PC only)

    I remember the days when ISS/PES would be my most anticipated game of the year. Now I'm finding out about a "new" release on HotUKDeals. Unbelivable how badly this game has been handled over the years. (edited)

    Football games are awful nowadays.
    Played every football game released since the early 90s.
    Fifa is basically a card collecting game, players don't actually want to play the football part.
    Efootball 2023 was just awful deleted after a few matches.
    The peak of football was pro evo 3,4,5 and 6/ fifa 98. (edited)

    Having played Pro Evo/ISS since the PS1 days I'm sticking with PES2021 and getting an options file online for all the latest transfers and playing as classic teams from older deacdes can be a lot of fun with your mates before the pub!

    This is the best football game released ever! Played it religiously on the Amiga and I was so happy it got released on the Xbox 360 and its the best version of the game after the Amiga version. Played it full on on the 360 and again on the Series X! After this game PES 6 is the one!

    Played it growing up on my older brothers amiga then the sega mega drive non stop.
    Can't score a goal on the xbox version

    Mostly agree with comments in here, but tried the gameplay after the update. It's outstanding. You can change the match length to 10 (I know, ridiculous to celebrate). Ultimately though, many are waiting for konami to release the master league mode.

    That is the dream but FIFA are so corrupt and would demand a ridiculous sum of money from Konami. Konami are the worst for investing money, they only care about short term microtransaction money now.

    If it's not an improvement on last year then it would be an utter waste of time.

    I couldn't get over how bad this game has become. Playing last years game felt like playing Actua Soccer 2 in 1996. Absolutely awful.

    Still playing Pro Evo 21 with an option file, tried PES23 but it was horrendous to play. Console football has died

    Is their an options file for the current season? I used to use PES universe but they seemed to die off a while ago.

    This plays a superior game of football to FIFA 23, albeit without all the gloss and content you get with FIFA.

    99% sure it'll play better than EAFC24 or whatever they're calling it too.

    Choice is whether you want beautiful presentation, tons of options but awful football or the best football but without the bells and whistles.

    I personally play football games for the football so this is my choice.

    The gameplay is fine but last year's got stale very quick - no interesting challenges or rewards, never delivered on game modes like Master League making a return, a laughable attempt at seasons with no interesting or new rewards. After a few months in it felt like they'd probably let most of the development team go and were just rolling card promotions - doing a new version feels really like a way to get people to pay for legends again and not much else.     I just changed my Xbox Series s into a emulator through dev mode retroarch " Alot of watching youtube" but have been playing Sensible soccer " Mega drive version just like the amiga but feels easier to score" and Pes 13 PS2 is that the last best one?

    It's not bad, certainly better gameplay wise that Fifa or whatever that's called now.
    But also a lot worse than the full game used to be because it has such limited options for "authentic" teams, such as leagues and cups etc...you can only play "friendlies" with actual teams, and there aren't many of them, although international teams are covered.


    Thanks for the tips about the option file for old PES, I thought that had stopped. (edited)
