I posted this last night, but the mods needed confirmation. Great price for a 65” ambilight tv.

Wow I posted this two hours ago and it was deleted.

I also posted this last night and it was deleted because the mods needed confirmation that it was available to buy which I’ve added in the description. (edited)

What’s the refresh rate on this like? Would it be good with a ps5?
FraserAubrey
I have an older 50” version, it’s fine if you put it in game mode!

how's the OS of this TV? I've a 6yo 50" ambilight and the setup/preferences suck big time.
Paul_Biggs
Sorry it's a bit late but I ended up getting this deal and taking mine back. FYI the OS was terrible - so laggy I would definitely have had to buy a smart device if I would have kept it. The upscaling was abysmal

I have an ambilight 55 inch philips and can honestly say that i wish i didnt, problems are as follows firstly the tvs tv guide is good, when it works that is because i had continuous problems with it whem my harddrive was connected to the tv and multiple times had to re install the tv and the guide and everytime i did it had to wipe everything i recorded to watch at a later date. Other problems was with freeview not working and having to reinstall the tv get it back. Philips will not help with the tv guide problem as they claim its third party software and nothing to do with them even tho they have put it on the tv, cheap price for what you think your going to get for your money, and thats exactly how i was duped into getting mine, so think really hard if you want one and also check into customer reviews thoroughly before the purchase

Thanks for your comment, I feel it's generalising somewhat when simply referencing 55inch Ambilight TVs and may not be reflective of this post. There are many 55inch Ambilight TVs sold under the Philips brand from budget sets to high spec OLED sets.
What model did you have? When did you buy it?

Annoying that the newer Philips TVs are not running Google TV. Last 2 TVs have been Philips and I love the Ambilight, but also come to love the Android/Google TV OS and the ease of sideloading APKs directly to the TV. Buying a TV without Google TV will almost definitely mean also buying a Shield TV or Fire TV Stick or something alike - at least for my use case.

Looks a great price. How does this compare to the Hisense 65E7KQTUK for watching tv/film? thanks (edited)

Only 2 year guarantee, I thought Richard sounds offer 5 years guarantee on all TVs!

You have to join their VIP club. It's free.
Paul_Biggs
Thanks. I went for it. Joined the VIP club for an extra £10 off. I couldn't find many reviews for this exact model, lots seem to be for the 65PUS8007 not the 8008, which seemed to have fairly mixed reviews. Also I thought I'd have to collect in store but was offered free delivery. (edited)

I am very tempted by this or should I wait till black Friday?

The only problem with these low end TV’s is the HDR. They use old 8 bit + 2 panels and not full 10 bit ones. Makes a massive difference in dark and bright scenes.

Was just about to post this! Another £100 off, great price.
MrAkagi
Seems quite tempting, 65" with VRR at that price is quite good.
KitKat23
Tempting but the two year warranty has put me off. My last 55" Ambilight developed a halo effect in the middle of the screen after about 26 months. Very frustrating.

I paid this for the 58PUS6505 4 years ago now, more than happy with it. Certainly would buy another Philips.

Do all models remotes go through batteries like crazy? I've had to get rechargeable batteries but they last a week to 10 days, I don't use voice control or anything
_hukdealer_
Doesn't sound right to me. If your batteries hold charge in other equipment well, I'd consider contacting CS.

Can I connect this to my aerial or does it have to be via wifi?
XtremeDJW
I wish I had space for a 65.
Krzysztof_Pick
Is it worth spending extra £150 and get 65PUS8108?
JaYy_dOg
I was wondering the same thing. I think 6 year warranty instead of 2 years is worth the price difference. But im still waiting for black friday
