Yep. One of them (lol)

Big box thing=subwoofer

Be interested to find out if this works out for your parents, I advise my audiology patients to try a sound bar but generally tell them to ask for in store demos as they vary so much in quality. I think a good sound bar for that purpose needs some sort of dynamic range compression see, a crisp clear treble output and definitely no subwoofer.

neekaphillips

Ive got the bigger version of this and am really happy with it. (U can tell how much i know though, its got a big box thing with it too) same remote as in the picture. Annoys my next door neighbour and drowns out her played Westlife. Its all good! Hehe

studentprince

Dosen't come with a optical cable... Bought this at £40 from Curry last week (Crimbo present for my parents, who are struggling to hear dialogue with the speaker in a cheap TV) hopefully this will do enough... to improve there experience... It was at the time £70 on amazon. Remote looks better than some of the other budget sound bars, I've seen in this price range.

I used to work for the JVC TV plant in East Kilbride and would never buy a JVC telly. They use cheapest components - capacitors are the achilles heel in most electrical appliances - if you want to check if your telly is good just look at the cap manufacturer - JVC used the cheapest of the cheap! All the repair guys had Panasonics they didnt even want a free JVC. We had the monkeys on the line putting coke cans in the back of the tellies before the back went on leading to exploding tellies not to mention the razor blades in the vending machines in the factory entrance at the back car park! Nasty! :{

jarjarmustdie

Lots of questions there Dave. Just my opinion based on my experience of 10 years in the trade. Up to others to make the choice based on what they read and choose to believe. And no I won't get you one cheaper (as I wouldn't recommend you buy the product in the first place) (y)

Agree there's some great deals on the hisense 6200 series if I'm right on here

chapsuk

Can pickup UHD version of LG , Panasonic, Hisense and potentially Samsung/Sony for this price or less. Official manufacture outlet stores on eBay would be a good start for returned if that's what your after

wanderer

My inlaws have the 50 version and found the smart side to be virtually useless as it Lags and ended up chucking a chrome cast in it. However the picture looks quite good and blacks seem quite black. Whereas my LG is snappy to use and better sound but the blacks are slightly grey Just Found this review if it helps talks about only 50hz 4k and slow as 10year old. Like tech

Dont recall referring to my superior knowledge at any stage. There are dozens of JVC / Polaroid TV threads with the same rehashed arguments. JVC are great. So are Currys. Happy?

I've waited to place an order on line at Aldi, but at 00:02 were none left. Went in shop in the day these were supposed to be £129, I was there at 8:20 and the last one was fine seconds before. They only had 2, both 8n the storage:) in between the JVC and the Medion, I will definitely choose JVC now that the other one is £180. I guess you can place an order now, if this will be cheaper tomorrow, you cancel and get it again at the new price. I am after the one with the DVD integrated, but is £299, was £220 before...

UKCJH1991

@sheffield788 i was surprised it wasn’t already posted (embarrassed) . Still unsure whether to buy it or to hold out for Cyber Monday. As for the Medion from Aldi I haven’t been able to track one down yet

sheffield788

Voted hot, you were 5 minutes quicker than me:) I believe it is a good TV for the price. If you want a 32 inch full HD smart TV, your only options are a Sharp, a Toshiba, a Hisense and the Medion from Aldi. i like this one as the stand is in the centre, my TV table is on the small size and the ones with 2 'legs' will not fit properly. No need for 4K at a 32 inch TV, but if you want HDR, somebody posted a deal for an LG earlier, £20 extra.

(shock) And yet you noticed that it clearly says 'Officially Refurbished' (shock)

spannerzone

and he failed to mention that JVC is a brand name that Currys have bought the rights to use to stick on any old equipment they deem fit to import. Still for £40 it's gonna be better than pretty much all LCD TV inbuilt speakers.

marteee

You conveniently negelcted to mention its a refurb...

AJ92

And yet better spec for 'a tenner more'

buffig

Bought this for my pc to mount on the wall beneath my monitor. Replaced some desktop speakers and frees up lots of space. I already have a sub for my TV soundbar, do I didn't need another. Won't blow you away, but the sound is way better than the cheap speakers I had. Also, while I'm here, the "better deal" that the clown posted would have met none of my needs and cost a tenner more.

ewan.mcdonald

There is a 40" model for the same price (currys) but 4K UHD if desirable

jcodonne

That is a good deal, but not a smart TV either I don't think

WhoThrowsAShoe

UHD ? Seriously though if you have no need for 4K then £250 for a branded, 48” smart TV is not too shabby.

nicholas.payne

Sorry guys terrible Brand I bought one the pictures good.sound is poor. Remote combined with processor on TV lends to a massive lag in changing channels. Please don't buy. I had it changed 4 times due to the buttons falling off the TV as the remote was useless. Curry's then refused to let me change to a different brand. I replaced it with a Samsung. I didn't even give the JVC away to anyone as I didn't want to fall out with them.

Cold for me, reserved the telly in local Currys with intention to buy, performance is quite poor, pay a bit extra and get a Samsung 43 Inches for £349 or a LG 43 inches for £329. This is a budget telly.

Got this a while ago for quite a bit more. It's pretty good, there's a slight hum from the screen when it's lit up bright - noticeable if no radio on (eg when you're setting the alarm etc), but stops when the screen dims JVC is an 'own' brand at Curry's, however I'd note that the similar Pure dab (about £150) has the exact same screen, menu options and buttons. The Pure may have better speakers, amplifiers etc, I don't know. Personally I couldn't tell the difference, and 150 quid for an alarm clock is a joke!

Code didn’t work for me

sheffield788

Just stopped at Currys in Sheffield, nothing in stock. Asked if I can order it for collection and to have the voucher applied, not possible. Closest in stock in Rotherham, I was told if I go there, the voucher will apply. So, I guess you have to find first if they have in stock in order to use the code.

sheffield788

To be honest, I do not know how it works. Gave it a try over the internet but did not work (code specifies in store only). Wanted to speak to somebody on chat but was too late, nobody available. My plan was to go to currys today but got busy, so I will try over the weekend. When I select the tv, it shows available to collect straight away, so I am assuming they have it at my local. The cheaper one, Toshiba, for £198 is not available to pick up, so I assume the JVC is at the shop. Still debating if I should place a order, pay and when going to collect to ask for £20 back, or I should go in store first. I would have liked the idea to have it delivered but don't know how I can get the money back, so I may try to speak to currys on their chat.

ses6jwg

Thanks. The issues is that curry's stores don't seem to stock this TV. It gets delivered to store which means you have to pay full price. I suppose you could try and return it and rebuy using the code but seems a bit of a potch

Rubbish TV, slow interface, poor picture quality.

cullies

JVC is now a cheapie brand. Sound quality terrible

mordan

Smart TV can (and almost always should) be bypassed with a proper TV streaming solution. I'd be more concerned about the picture quality at this price (especially on such a large screen, where even a minor issue would be much more apparent).

savvyshopper656

If youre looking for a decent smart TV, youd be better off not buying this. Software on this TV is a joke with apps crashing and/or not working at all.
