TCL 55C805K QD Mini-LED VRR 144hz TV

Available on the ao eBay store for £656, discount code brings it down to £581 and free shipping.

Excellent value TV, great for 120hz high refresh rate gaming on the latest games consoles or 144hz on PC. Variable refresh rate for super smooth gameplay.

Local dimming and Mini-LED get close to OLED black levels and contrast at a much more affordable price.

I have this TV myself and the picture quality holds up well against my other LG C1, I can hardly notice blooming on the TCL 55C805K. Highly recommend.

*UPDATE*

For those that wish to use the built in smart features and apps, I have been in touch with TCL.

They told me that they are offering a Free View play device to anyone that requests one which will allow you to watch all of your UK based Apps.

The easiest way to contact them is through Whatsapp customer service, you can find this on the TCL website.

I'd say comparing my LG C1 to this mini LED, the LG has a little more detail in the blacks but overall the picture on the TCL is stunning. It really is diminishing returns. The TCl is one of the best value to image quality TV's on the market IMO. As a plus point the TCL is brighter.

What OLED and how does it compare in picture quality other than brightness? (edited)

I have 65 version of this (65C805K), the picture quality is absolutely stunning, probably because it use Pentonic 700, one of the latest release chipset
It is slightly more expensive than DLED TV, but this mini LED TV is well worth the money

Is 144Hz a real refresh rate or just marketing slurr?

Does this TV have iPlayer? I understand many TCL Google TVs don’t, due to not being BBC certified. Is it missing any (other) of the notable “standard” streaming apps you’d normally expect to find? (edited)

51763661-LcuCT.jpgMy tcl 635k has iplayer, Netflix etc. I don't use the smart features very often mind. (edited)

Absolutely amazing deal OP if it's a revised C845?

Usual different stand/colour/processor or it's a retailer specific model? (edited)

It's a European version of the C755 which means it sits between the c745k and c845k on TCL standings. I did a lot of research on AV forums an few other sites and this TV at this price is very good bang of buck. Just be mindful you will need calibrate the image settings because they are rubbish out of the box and probably why some people are complaining because they don't know/don't want to adjust settings and also a fire stick or something to replace the inbuilt system. For me as a bedroom gaming TV it's perfect for the price.

Alot of TV for the money
some on here have said it doesn't have OLED level blacks and contrast
You might also be shocked to hear that diesel BMWs don't offer M3 levels of performance

Not OLED level blacks but I'd say incredibly close and massively cheaper. It's very good value indeed.

This TCL C805K, or the Hisense U7K ?
    Mainly for PS5 gaming.

(Ignoring the price, as I have a a bunch of amazon vouchers that makes the prices similar)

Bought this tv on eBay on a Black Friday deal, after cashback was 520-ish. The tv is being returned it is really poor, none of the main catch up tv apps are supported, when playing live tv, there is occcaisional digital noise on the antenna input wheras other devices I own have no issue with signal. The display is very bright, but colours are not very natual looking despite the quantum dot thingy and mini-led contrast. I am a movie buff, but the general video quality has been dissapointing. Just hooked it up Today to my new games console and again very dissapointing, movement is juddery, not expected for 120hz signal. I have not been gaming for many years, and graphics don't seem much of a step up. This pile of trash is going back to Marks Electrical. Don't waste your time and money on this tv. I read some good things about tcl, but I guess there are some fake reviews out there

What settings are you using? If it's the out of the box setting, you'd want to change those right away. Movie mode is usually the best place to stay for a natural picture.

How many years of warranty does this TV come with?
    Crossbow's avatar
It says... Manufacturer Warranty: 2 Year

Itvx, BBC Iplayer, all4 not available, but my5 is available.

I did finally contact tcl about the issue, that took many hoops to go through, and they confirmed the services are NOT available. They used to supply a free ROKU stick so you could stream services off it, but they do not currently provide that, or do they have an alternative solution.

I bought a TCL 4k 55” for around £450 2 years ago. So was one of their top models at the time. Was a great deal, and spec wise, it outdid any other model on the market back then, and probably still to this day

Unfortunately since having it, a number of things have gone wrong. A few dead pixels, slow UI, sound sometimes doesn’t work, excessive sound delay when connect to surround sound (TCL surround sound). Various UI issues, frequent frame rate drops, looks like under 30fps at times.

Now I’m not sure if this is just me, I know it happens with almost any model of tv that there are ‘duds’. But this has made me second guess TCL as a brand and whether I’d rather spend double the money on an LG tv that is less likely to have issues.

I’m interested to know whether other TCL users have experienced the above. If not and it’s just me, I’d be willing to give them another try!

I have had issues with the interface being dog slow on my 55C729k, I also have issues occasionally where if I wake the TV from sleep, it will start playing via my surround sound normally for a few seconds, then blare at FULL VOLUME through the in-built speakers at the same time, resulting in waking up everyone in the house with distorted noise.

I am also disappointed to find I cannot add the TV as a speaker in my Google Home app, this apparently works with other TV manufacturers and would be very useful to me as I would like to include the TV and surround sound system to routines to start playing music when I wake up or get home etc but this is not possible with the current software stack of this TV.

I have had to reset my TV to factory settings on a few occasions as YouTube became steadily more sluggish until eventually it would just not play videos anymore and instead reverted to a very poor slideshow app.

The picture quality is decent however if there's a grey screen there is noticeable patchiness with the backlighting, it appears I have a dark stripe towards the left side so I may have some dead LEDs but it looks like the diffusion panel is warped or is not sitting flat against the panel.

The bluetooth remote is another pain point, it's great to not have to point the remote at the TV to use the IR function, but it often 'sticks' and repeats the same input for a couple of seconds, resulting in a single click often being read as 10 on the TV, I think there are more serious issues with Bluetooth connectivity however as when I paired a Google Stadia controller with the TV, the same issues were present.

I had issues with Moonlight game streaming totally locking up the TV after a few minutes of streaming gameplay from my PC, this was reported to TCL customer service and never resolved.

After this experience, I cannot recommend anyone buy a TCL TV. They are cheap, but that's about all they have going in their favour.

Any ideas for getting an extended warranty on this? Was hoping for a TV with longer than 2 years. This looks a good deal though. Was looking at the Hisense U7k at Richer Sounds, 6 years, but that is £100 more. But then I suppose the extra 4 years is worth that.

Really torn between the 2. Nothing else seems to fit the bill for my budget as wanting to use for PS5. The cheaper Hisense ones that popped up seemed great value too.

    TV predicament...

Any opinions on this vs the Hisense U7K? Not many reviews around.

Not many & can't compare properly like if rtings reviewed both, but this is the next best hopefully hotukdeals.com/com…003
Costco does proper 5-year warranties on all their TVs (Hisense included), so I'd definitely consider buying from them as well.

2 years warranty, try look at reviews and see if the picture quality is comparable. I haven't personally compared it with this one.

Kinda tempted to replace my 44in suw 120hz sim racing monitor for this. Getting into MSFS and miss the height with my ultrawide

Assume i'd just need a high spec hdmi cable to run from my FE3080 gpu?
