These have been out of stock for ages. The tiny security screws are very easy to lose and hard to replace.

There is a guy on ebay selling just one screw for £8.50 and he has sold 499.

Well worth buying to avoid the headache if you lose one whilst removing it for charging and for all the other spare bits.

Best for everyone to hop over to Eufy for free subscription

What does it still do if you cancel the basic plan? I'm not paying £4.99/month. Is it just the video playback that you lose?

Standard features such as instant notifications, live view and two-way talk are available out of the box and for free on all Ring devices.

Ring Protect allows you to review, save and share your videos. With a Ring Protect subscription, starting from £4.99 per month per device, store unlimited Ring footage in the cloud for 180 days*, to rewatch, download to your own device or share with friends and family.

Don't bother buying any Ring products now , they've just increased the basic subscription from 11 March 2024, to £49.99/year , it started at a reasonable £24.99/year only 2 years ago.
Go into app and cancel renewals , will cancel at the end of your billing cycle. (edited)

    I agree, waste of money

the weird thing is Blink is a brand also owened by Amazon, but on a blink doorbell you can record to local USB storage (via a sync module) AND the Blink doorbell is on offer at the moment, think I'll sell my ring doorbell and switch to blink - and I've already got blink cameras

£50 subscription hike..Yep gonna cancel. Any better replacements for ring (edited)

Tricky. I’ve tried Blink (awful image quality) and Eufy (terrible lag on answering call). Annoyingly Ring seems the best. (edited)

I contacted them on support chat and they sent me this for free

    Nice one

There'll be a lot of Ring Doorbells on the used market soon after Ring put up the subscription cost up 43%!!!!
    daveham's avatar

Yep, there will, and they will be a lot easier to sell with the screws to secure them

How much does a Ring doorbell cost to run (in storage etc) per month nowadays?
    Kammykay's avatar
£3.49 per month or £34.99 per year if you join before the price hike on 11th March.. then its £4.99 per month or £49.99 per year!

I have had a ring doorbell for a couple of years now and have been paying for the annual subscription. My mother has a Ring doorbell, but also has a small rectangular device on a table in her sitting room, which shows her who is actually at the front door - is this something that you can get with Ring, as I can't see it on the website? Also, if I do manage to get one of these as well, am I right in thinking that I will have to pay £49.99 for my current Ring doorbell, as well as another £49.99 for the same device that my mother has, so that I can look at it and see who is at the front door? Thank you for any advice.
    SE43's avatar
Not thought of asking your mum what it is? Surely she won't bite lol.

Sounds to me like an Amazon Echo show. No you can connect it to your existing doorbell I have the same. (edited)

Cold because the subscription has increased to a crazy £50 per year so no point in having one

Yes rip off price increase, 50% up in 2 years. Going to cancel my Ring subscription from March, now looking for a cheaper good alternative?
    itisnajah's avatar
Eufy is excellent. My experience over the last 2 years has been far better than Ring ever was. Works without ever thinking about it (I have it wired)

    52163118-3RmpE.jpgDisappointing.
  13. PJ0's avatar
Eufy is the way to go unfortunately you want subscription free
  14. greglowe1's avatar
Downvoted because ring subscription is a rip off at £60 a year now.

Nobody is going to buy a Ring doorbell because this is cheap. These are for people who need a spare part and don't want to spend £8.50 on a screw from ebay. Really odd reason to downvote.
  15. scotty306's avatar
Thank you, I've ordered this so that when I have to sell our doorbell on ebay I will have all the accessories for its new owner!

Just need to find a subscription free video doorbell with good reviews now
  16. Ap22222's avatar
Wow i need this, but i just cancelled my subscription due to the price increase
    atzaman's avatar
After cancelling, you have the option to begin a new 12-month subscription at the previous price, ensuring you receive 12 months (up to Feb 2025) for £34.99. (edited)
  17. wafarey's avatar
2.69£ + free delivery if you are already a protect customer.
  18. Tianfat's avatar
Iam surprise they haven't improved their doorbells yet it's been the same for years with minor changes. I'll probably switch to another brand after my subscription ends.
  19. roosomak's avatar
Maaate, thanks for posting I've been looking for that Fn screw for months. I refused to buy from that guy on ebay.

Exactly why I posted it. I was in the same situation.

Cancelling my Ring subscription too, and probably Prime. Price increase on both unless you have adverts on Prime Video.

Does anyone know where you can buy replacement lens cover? Had my ring 2 for nearly 3 years and the image quality is now horrific!
    RSFocus's avatar
I looked in to this a few months ago as ours had gone "milky" but couldn't find anything. I had seen videos of people using toothpaste to clean similar issues on car headlights so thought I'd give it a go on the Ring lens cover and it made a big improvement but still not perfect, I then went over it again with Pink Stuff abrasive cleaner (in a small tub) and it almost restored it back to normal. The eBay guy definitely giving this minus heat and probably reporting the deal
  23. StevoBadger's avatar
Thanks op. Heat and ordered. Also cancelled the Ring subscription as well due to ridiculous price now. Hopefully their greed will cause so many people to cancel that they have a rethink. They don’t deserve the customers to return either tbh.

I emailed Ring , I told them the same thing ,asked where they got the nearly 50% rise from. They said it's all the investment they are putting in, wish they would invest in a better night time view ,as black & white is no good , I hope a lot more people email tell them their disgust in the nearly 50%
  24. knocka's avatar
Thanks op , ordered 1 for my son if its not compatible
will put it back on ebay

There are sellers(albeit from China) selling packs of 20 for less than £3. Looks like a mix of different ones mind. Are these any good?
    daveham's avatar
    Author
I bought a couple of those from different sellers and none fitted the Doorbell 2. Probably explains why people can sell for so much on ebay.
  27. Korg7's avatar
Hate ring prices, but we have a few ring cams and they are so good.
  28. roulade_123's avatar
Wasn’t expecting free delivery but glad I ordered now!

Reolink doorbell works well and also doesn't require subscription.

Great resell price on ebay. These were 18 quid each in December when out of stock. May be worth holding on for a while before selling,

She's very elderly and not that great on new technology - she said that a friend sorted it all out for her, so I just thought that it would be easier to ask on here, especially as I don't see her that often. Thank you.

Many Thanks OP - being a protect subscriber it was only £2.69 delivered for me.
  35. Agent004's avatar
Cheers OP Ordered for £2.99 & free postage . As for the Plans, my basic 1 has only gone up £1.50 pm to £4 .99 pm which is still worth it in my opinion.

Brought the price down so much on these as they've ramped up the subscription prices! I'm off to a Eufy setup!!
