sorted by- Debatable I'd say. If the 6 is working well and the battery is still OK then possibly not. (edited)
- 2 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates left for those interested. Great deal OP.
endoflife.date/pixel - Can anyone recommend a decent case for it?Spigen cases are brilliant, 15 quid on Amazon. Dropped several phones loads of times with their cases on and never had any damage
- Code is still working, got offered trade-in as well. Voted hot.£59 for 6a, meh
- Royal Mail recall, look at my tracking :-(Yup same here, was hoping I was lucky.
- It took John Lewis what, two hours to realise what was happening and stop more people from ordering at this price. If they had started cancelling these right away (even if a few people near John Lewis got away with immediately collecting at £229), I don't think anyone would have been particularly upset about it.
Instead they waited over 24h before they started to haphazardly try to recall a bunch of phones. I am sure some people will have ordered cases or screen protectors. Others might have driven 30 minutes or more to collect from a store. People that may have stayed in for package delivery or been anticipating a new phone that it shows as on the way.
All that to have the rug pulled out from underneath for many and create a lot of bad will over what they themselves claim should have been 399-100. We're talking about £70 per device which will barely cover the wages of the people they put on top of trying to deal with this mess that they got themselves in by waiting so long to do anything about this matter.
I personally received my tracking information just after 3pm yesterday. Have yet to receive either a cancellation message or confirmation text/mail for collection. How badly do you want this to reflect on your business. I saw someone mention yesterday that they had JL pull a package from delivery and am kind of shocked to find out they can even do so.
Poor display.
ps. I did write a comment earlier already that I managed to collect from local post office with tracking code, but knowing how they dealt with this and screwed around with people has certainly made me reconsider spending a lot of money on a pair of new mattresses with them.
I like having physical store you can walk around in. I hated when a few years back they shut down a John Lewis I'd regularly visit. On the whole it's okay to go in and even if products aren't always as cheap as they are elsewhere it's fine to spend a tiny bit more when you expect to get good customer service in return. It's a pity, but perhaps simply more writing on the wall...You forgot that JL have quite literally broken their own t&c's which is worse than anything subjective.. - [deleted]Mine asked for birth year ??
- Shame about slow charging
- Ok posting again here. johnlewis.com/cus…ons
Under: Ordering, cancelling and returning products- Order acceptance and the completion of the contract between you and us will take place on the despatch to you of the Products ordered unless we have notified you that we do not accept your order, or you have cancelled it in accordance with the instructions in Change or cancel an order
They have breached their own T&C's and don't have a leg to stand on (Provided you received your dispatched email)
- Just to clarify everyone, as I mentioned on the previous page, this is exactly what happened to me last year when they refused to honour a Motorola deal posted on here.
They dispatched the phone, it was out for delivery and suddenly it was recalled at the last minute.
When I checked the tracking it said I didn't collect it so it was returned, which is complete BS as I had not even received any kind of communication telling me it was ready to collect, also they normally give you a few days to collect and my order wasn't even there for a few minutes it seems.
They then didn't refund me for a month (I did contact them a couple of times) so I put in a complaint and the person I spoke to apologised but said they wouldn't honour the deal and I had now been refunded.
I was mainly complaining about being messed around but tbh they didn't seem to care at all and I haven't used them since and might not again. They did however honour the deal for other people on this site so I have no idea what their criteria is for honouring some orders and refusing others.
This must have been a year ago now and it seems they are still pulling the same tricks, perhaps the only way they'll learn is if we all leave negative feedback on Trustpilot or something. (edited) - WAs eyeing a Pixel phone for long, just to see and try out few of those unique features, thank you for posting this at £229 this is really a steal!
For those signing up to the My John Lewis page, remember you can claim a £5 voucher for purchases above £50.I didn't see I could claim £5
And I did check (edited) - just got the guarantee of 2 years email so looks good lol
- Same has happened to me this morning. Due for shop delivery this afternoon. When I
Checked the delivery tracking it says that I failed to pick it up at 02.39hrs(??????) and it was being returned to John Lewis!!!!!!
Not even a formal email/notification from JL.
I called customer services this morning and was told it had been recalled due to a "pricing error".
Really poor from JL.. - Just had a quick look at JS' T&Cs and looks like they have been a bit naughty.
- Order acceptance and the completion of the contract between you and us will take place on the despatch to you of the Products ordered unless we have notified you that we do not accept your order, or you have cancelled it in accordance with the instructions in Change or cancel an order
Surprised they have completion on despatch, most companies have got wise and changed it to when the customer receives the goods.exactly what i said Not sure if I would have more success if I am the only one to argue this or if everybody does - [image]
Phone delivered today, even though it was showing as to be delivered on Friday. - Just tried this. . When entering the promo code, this appears:

- Worth upgrading from 6a
?Not sure you'd notice a significant difference in daily usage but this is cheap. Maybe worth the upgrade if the 6a is showing it's age and you plan to keep the 7a for a while? (edited) - If you get £130 for a 6a, is this worth the £100 extra?Definitely
- This is a very good price for the 7a - an easy buy if looking for a phone in this price range.
I bought my 7a for £329 last summer. I'd say it's been a good but not great experience - camera very good but mediocre performance and mediocre at best battery life.
The biggest negative for me is that I keep on encountering app freezing issues, moreso than the Pixel 3a I had previously. The usual suspect is bugginess when the keyboard is displaying on apps - sometimes I can't hide the keyboard, and it prevents the home button from working. The workaround is to view all of your open apps, close the instance of the app, and tap on the slither of homescreen from there - quite annoying. A different case is google maps semi-freezing - multiple times where the 'X' button to finish your journey doesn't work.
I don't know if these glitches are exclusive to the 7a or not, but unless it's a very good price (which this is), I think the 7 or the 8 is the better buy. (edited) - Of course there's a heavy discount a week after I bought one!
Love the camera on it.
Hate hate hate that there's no notification led. The launcher is horrible and the notification drop down buttons are hidious and lack customisation options.
Lack of fast charging isn't as much of an issue as I thought it might be. But make sure you have a modern charger, because while the charger for my old Mate 20 Pro can do fast charging, this pixel didn't like it (forget what it's called that stops it from fast charging) - Really interesting to see how this is complete pot luck depending on what courier JL decided to use and the option for them to recall.
I ordered standard free delivery and they used RM so I'm hopeful that it may still come throughI also used RM but I'm 50/50 on getting the 7a anyway as I only bought my pixel 7 a month ago with the £350 deal. I only got it because it was amazing deal and would make a great present for someone, or just even to sell it for £80 profit (edited) - just spoke to JL and mine has been returned to them (yodel). looks like it pretty much got to the shop for pickup and was recalled. damn!
- Anyone going via the legal route / Ombudsman service? You won't get anywhere. Law allows for contracts to be broken if there's an obvious mistake. Also, contract won't be concluded until you're in receipt of the goods. (edited)
- I got the e-mail about the guarantee but Royal Mail tracking says they have not recieved the item - doubt its gonna come☹️Check now, mine was dispatched early hours and only just got an actual update on the royal mail tracking
- Lol just got the cancellation email but the phone was delivered by Royal Mail earlier todayLet us know if you get a refund
- Not sure how this would stand legally, but all those who have received delivery / collected after being notified by JL that the order is being cancelled get a refund and then charged the correct amount. Could JL argue that you were informed the order was being recalled and you still accepted the product so now fair game at the price quoted in the email. I did notice the invoice in the box has the price of £329 with no mention of the discount being applied. One could argue that people who received an email this morning (me included), with an invoice and shipment tracker supercedes the one from yesterday I suppose.
- My response was somewhat different..
Thank you for contacting us.
I’m concerned to learn that you want a replacement for your purchased mobile phone you haven’t received due to being cancelled. Also, I understand that your colleague has the same issue. I understand that you have already purchased the accessories for this and you were unable to return it. Please be informed that this is not the usual kind of service we aim to provide for our valued customers such as yourself, and we sincerely apologise for letting you down on this occasion.
I shall of course be passing your feedback to the relevant department to assess what had happened and to prevent this issue from recurring again in the future. John Lewis & Partners are constantly aiming to provide the best possible customer service at all times, and it is an independent review of our performance, such as yours, that enables us to better monitor our proficiency.
In line with your request, to ensure that this will be sent to the correct address, kindly confirm your preferred delivery address where you would like the items to be sent. Rest assured once I've received it, I'd be in a better position to process this accordingly.Looks like you made it into the valued customers list, I obviously haven't. - hukd emotional roller coaster
wake up early, still half sleep, see the deal, thinking I don't need a another phone
but too good of a deal not to, thinking I will regrets it later if I don't buy it, even though I don't need another phone
thinking to myself that I can order and cancel later if I didn't want it, so I order
go have breakfast and shower, post purchase clarity kicks in and I realise I don't need it
go to cancel the order, now its seems like it was a glitch and the order might get cancelled, now I'm praying to every god in the universe for my order not to get cancelled
what's going on? did I need another phone? why am I even writing this? lolol (edited)You're writing it because you genuinely want to know why this is such a big deal for you - **BOOM** just picked up one in JL Oxford Street
(edit - I just walked into the store and asked if they had stock and the partner at the counter didn't quibble in the slightest in applying the code) (edited)
Thanks OP and RM.
Now waiting for JL to complete my refund.Nice!- I've Received my money back and got a phoneAnd yet I have neither.
- Phone received today via RM and I've also received the cancellation email. Guess I was one of the lucky ones. Will be funny if I also get a refund!I was very pleased to be out this evening and read the email from JL on my pixel 7a. Picked it up this morning from Waitrose. I hope all those that have orders with RM get them delivered.
- Fuming - got the phone but no dior samplesSame here, but at least got the phone, unlike the not so lucky ones who didn't get the phones
- mine arrived today via royal mail. looks huge next to NexusIt's still in the box, you need to take it out and it will be smaller .
- Just wasted £219 on a works voucher for a further £10 off, now saddled with a £229 JL gift card and no 7a! Ahhhhhhhhhhh (edited)Same
- Mine has been processed collecting tomorrow
- Got mine delivered via RM earlier today. Guess i got lucky.
- 2 sackings at JL today:
Commercial team responsible for the pricing error.
Comms team for the lazy / incompetent wording of the cancellation email:
"We’re sorry to let you know we’ve had to cancel your order BEFORE it was processed..."
Err no, the word you're looking for is AFTER. - Contact complete if delivered / picked up. Think the recall when out on delivery will be covered by their right not to accept your order.
- Order acceptance and the completion of the contract between you and us will take place on the despatch to you of the Products ordered unless we have notified you that we do not accept your order, or you have cancelled it in accordance with the instructions in Change or cancel an order
- johnlewis.com/cus…ons
As above comment.. My item was despatched.. They then recalled it after handing it to the courier and emailing me to say it was dispatched.
I'm usually very anti people arguing over these things but you cannot send half out (my friend ordered after me and received his) but the ignore your own terms and cancel others once you get past that stage..
