Not bad for like new i think, you may get away with cancelling the first month, but my advice is just to pay it, and cancel for your 2nd month, credit check is involved here, so bare this in mind

My recent experience trying to cancel, or even get through to O2 agent was horrific, be aware

Just get a £1 Vodafone SIM and port the number over, I've done it a couple of times. No need to speak to anyone or go onto the online chat that way, it automatically cancels when you port the number over

How does the process of cancelling the sim go exactly? Can anyone explain what hoops you have to jump through?

    Like New..

Like New devices aren’t brand new, but they're not far off. The only difference is that they may have some wear and tear and superficial scratches, but there’ll be no more than five deep scratches or chips up to 2mm in length..

Wow, Ebay definition of like new is not the same as O2...

And you have no idea how much battery degradation there already is...

What is a refurbished phone? Our refurbished range are devices that have been traded in with O2 Recycle or returned to us within 14 days. (edited)

How can having even 1 deep scratch or any scratches tbf be considered like new

    Is pixel 7a better
    EndemicAlarm's avatar
Pixels always come in a series, from cheapest to most expensive, of, for example "7a | 7 | 7 Pro".

However the difference between the more budget "a" and the middle budget version is very minimal these days and unless it's my imagination discounts are more common on the middle and top versions.
  6. vwblack's avatar
Help please! Totally confused as I've always had Redmi.

If I go for a Google pixel is the 7 far better than the 7A?
    bing63's avatar
I wouldn't say "far better" but yes 7 is better than 7A. For pixel series, A is the budget series

The cancellation process for the SIM really isn’t as hard as some might make you think. All you need is a STAC code from O2, which you can get anytime over SMS. Use the STAC code on your existing number (can be any carrier including O2) within the first 14 days and it’ll disconnect you. No human interaction needed. I’ve almost always had new numbers disconnected within 2 days of setup this way. Works just the same way with a PAC code and an off the shelf cheap SIM.

Make sure NOT to use any data, minutes etc on the new SIM, and cancel the direct debit as soon as it’s created. The DD payment for the SIM doesn’t go out until Day 15 of the contract. (edited)
    HellRazer's avatar
Do NOT cancel the direct debit. Terrible advice to anyone! Great way to create hassle for yourself when O2 report non payment and leave a nice mark on your credit record. (edited)
  8. Foxxxv's avatar
Great price but I Do NOT want to deal with O2 ever again since my S23 Fe experience
    TheAceofSpades's avatar
Mine wasn’t too bad . They even volunteered to refund back the two airtime contract payments I paid. How was your experience?
  9. Blazzz's avatar
Would be good to mention in the description about the credit check involved with this method.
    PS5's avatar
More important to mention like new is potentially nothing like it
  10. roguess's avatar
What condition are these phones usually in? O2's 'like new' description is a joke, 'no more than five deep scratches or chips up to 2mm in length' is more like 'junk' condition than 'like new'.

If it turns up with high battery cycles/scratches can it be returned?
    winchman's avatar
Minimum 14 days by law for online purchases to reject it.
  11. r9m4zqbfmz's avatar
Will this phone be locked to O2? Or can I put my Lebara sim in and keep my number? Then port the O2 sim to another network. (edited)
    Deal_searcher's avatar
No it won't be locked. Companies not allowed to lock phones anymore
  12. AlistairS's avatar
I had an O2 sim only deal a few years back but ported the number out when I left and yet the account is still active. I am unable to receive a text from that number as it is currently being ported between asda and lebara. I tried to register another acoount with a different email address (as suggested by O2) but that doesn't work as the system already recognises me and tell me to log in with the original account! I have tried speaking to them but keeping getting bounced around various departments as no one seems to know what they are doing. I keep asking them to delete the active account so I can purchase and re-register.

Awful experience, is such a good deal financially worth all this hassle ???

This is part of my review I have stuck up on Trustpilot (edited)

Am I doing something wrong as I've increased the upfront to £100 but the monthly cost has gone up even though I want to cancel after one month

    roguess's avatar
yeah. the instructions are in the original post. you dont need to mess with the monthly payments part

Same was supposed to be at store today, but no updates.

Just phoned my local store and apparently they don't get deliveries on Sunday. 🙈 Great, why advertise next day? (edited)

For those who are cancelling their o2 SIM contract. I called up to have the contract cancelled under the 14 days cooling off period which they confirmed they would do. This never happened from their end.. hence they do not commit to cancellation request email until it happens. I just took the STAC code and went to Vodafone. All done and cancelled within the 24 hours!
    Deal_searcher's avatar
Yea the stac method is the quickest and easiest way I would say. But it does mean you need to sign up for another SIM. The other easy way is to move on to PAYG with o2
  16. simone_keary's avatar

Check tomorrow because I am going to return one phone and it just combine maybe they will give to someone

Problem with having them just numbered rather than multiple brand names, letters and numbers, you know immediately when it's not the latest model.

Great if you're buying second hand though.
  22. TheRealDealHuntsman's avatar
You can cancel the sim within 14 days for free

    Why?
  25. Scalesofjustice's avatar
Personally, I wouldn't buy anything other than new. Buy a new phone that's been out for just over a year for heavy discounts. Keep minimum 2 years, 3 if you can help it or longer. Buy a good screen protector and case too. There are no generational hardware leaps any more. Make sure when you buy, go for flag ship or upper middle quality. I have a pixel 7 it's excellent. If I was in the market for a new phone right now, id likely go for one of the Samsung s23 models, not this. Tensor chips are meh. (edited)
  26. DopeyDunker's avatar
Great price. Currently using the 256gb version of this. A good option for those that don't want the really large and heavy phones. Google support until Oct 27 so plenty of life left in these 🔥
  27. chasolo's avatar
I'm already a sim only O2 customer, how would I go about getting this but keep using my current O2 sim only contract? I'm just after the phone really.
    Jhawlll's avatar
Just log in and upgrade. You might need to pay an early upgrade fee if you’re still in contract. I have to pay an extra £30!
  28. itsmearron's avatar
We Just ordered this phone and SIM for my son, can you give us a step by step guide on how to cancel the sim but keep the phone please ?

I don't mind paying the first month if that makes things easier, but obviously if we can cancel before the first payment goes out then that's a bigger win we ordered the esim.
  29. vwblack's avatar
Spoke with our O2 shop and they said the cheaper 7A is much better, especially the camera. Unfortunately there are no deals for the 7A.🙈 (edited)

Can’t believe getting a phone and cancelling the contract qualifies as a deal
    yadiyada's avatar
If you end up with a phone at a significant discount over everywhere else, then that clearly makes it a deal.

(These Refresh deals have been going on for years)

    Picked up item today.
No marks but annoying absolutely no charge in battery.
Got STAC code and transferred to a 45p Vodafone SIM (fingers crossed)
Sold old Pixel 6 (I know not much of an upgrade) for £160 (less fees)
initial impressions of phone are good!
    BillyChan's avatar
Just out of interest, how come you paid 45p for the SIM? It's free from their website?

If you want to check phone age and remaining warranty I've found this site. unlockboot.com/goo…er/

Accubattery has my phone battery at 98% I'm happy with that given the decent saving over a brand new phone. 52441060-qSrLG.jpg
    bogdan_lm20's avatar
You don't need Accubattery or that website if the phone is updated to A14 up to February 2024.

If you go to Settings - About phone - Battery information - Manufacture date + Cycle count.

If you did the March 2024 update it won't show anymore!

I feel like I'm slightly living in an episode of the Twilight zone. A parallel universe in which every year smartphones get worse and have features taken away yet the priice goes up. I'm using a 256 GB memory card that carts full of stuff I use. So great, now they've taken away the memory card slot, and the earphone jack, maybe they'll take away the speakers and to make because you have to hold up an old-fashioned style phone to your ear, attached with a cable, If you Bluetooth earphones have run out of charge.
