The pictorial above of eSim capable phones is missing the new cheap and cheerful Motorola G34 5G which I am rocking at the moment with Eskimo.

Looks decent. Does anyone know if this is a good deal for someone travelling to Turkey or are there better alternatives available? (iPhone user with eSim available).

I'm in Turkey just now. Bought an esim from Maya and it's been great, highly recommend. I picked up 20gb for £10 maya.net/esim/turkey (edited)

Not intending to highjack your decent deal in the slightest but you and other users might find the limited time offer from Eskimo ☃️ useful especially as there is 2 years validity. Interestd people should Google for details

I have had them for few months now, used them mainly in the USA and had no problems. They're based in Singapore, I believe.

I didn't have a good experience with my first eSIM when travelling abroad. (to the USA)
Vodafone charged me daily as well as the price of the eSIM from Aoilo.

Not a lot of support from either. But looks like settings on my Galaxy S22 were the culprit.
Despite chosing the eSIM for data and Voda SIM for Voice and Text. There is default option to fallback to the other SIM if for example the eSIM is out of coverage. Which it seemed to do on 5 of the 7 days i was away.

Solution is to turn off data roaming on a network level.
But there's no button on the Voda website to do this.
You have to change the spend manager to zero.

So be careful on your settings

Lots of esims launching now for abroad travel. Guessing this market will start becoming quite competitive. The main benefit for us would be outside EU though. Otherwise I stand by the fact that it should be included in mobile packages similar to it was pre-brexit

Good if you just need a GB. I used Three for 10GB for a month when I went to USA. I think it was £10

I might be heading over there for a few weeks this summer, have you come cross any decent options for data sims?

Will a USA eSIM cover Canada as well. My trip starts in the USA but finishes in Canada.
    Mr.Plow's avatar
If you select Canada then scroll down to where it says it will work it includes USA however if you select USA it doesn't include Canada so I think the answer is no, unfortunately the Canada esim is more expensive than USA.

Wouldn't you be better off buying a Lebara SIM for EU?! Often you see on offer for £ 1 for 12 gb

Any good cheap sim for Japan?
    Deal_searcher's avatar
If you have revolut they are offering free 100mb data around the world until 1st May. I know they are entering the esim game too! Yes data limited and time boxed but if you are going soon and using it for WhatsApp and finding directions with Google maps pre downloaded, it would be useful.

Airolo.com is probably cheaper even without the discount btw

Definitely. Just checked Thailand where I paid 10 USD for 10 GB and actually also used a 4usd voucher while these clowns are charging 20gbp and if easyJet customer service is any indication of theirs good luck if anything goes wrong. At least airalo generally replies within a few hours
