Found today in the Birkenhead store, 1kg bags of frozen raw jumbo roeless Scallops (size 10/20) for £9.99, "Tiger Delight" brand. They are really big scallops! (husband says he's sure they were £19.99 last week).
Caught in the N.W. Pacific and packed in the USA. Best Before date 21/10/24.
Yes, I know they're a "luxury" item so I only buy them when on offer. They're high in protein, low in fat, no waste and cook quickly. Not seen them this cheap before.
Hopefully available in other Farmfoods stores - perhaps people could confirm if found and in which stores to help others. Thanks

sorted byThey weren't stuck together ( often a sign of defrost/refreeze) so I'm hoping they will be fine.
At £9.99 I couldn't resist getting a pack, especially as I went prepared with a coolbag & ice-bricks on a hunt for 99p prawns!
But I don't know why the scallops had a bitter and metallic chemical taste
So next time I cooked some I tried different technique. But same result. 3 bags wasted. Not sure what to do with the last bag. Am I doing something wrong?
Not had such a problem with scallops in the past.
If any remaining, I'd suggest returning them to Farmfoods with the receipt explaining the problem.
