    These appear to be built in Port Talbot - imagine it's similar to Cello where they buy in a kit of parts from China (used to be HiSense quite often in Cello's case) and screw them together here.

    ETA the manufacturer is the Chinese "Tsinghua Tongfang". So they're the latest brand for what used to be Seiki TVs. Owned by the Chinese State. Always questionable when a company changes its brand-name like this - Seiki were the usual naff fare. (edited)

    1080 is fine on a 40-incher, my eight year old Blaupunkt LED still has a beautiful picture, so much so that I can't be persuaded to upgrade to something that will consume more power, it was £159 Black Friday deal back then so £149 is a fair price, I guess, given similar tech. And yes I have looked at new TV's in Currys so I know what the latest tech gets you. You can tweak the video for each hdmi input to max the screen which you do need to do.
