sorted byAre they just WiFi repeaters? I think you can get some WiFi mesh systems for around £100 so why are these so much more?
I have an old house with bloody thick walls and my WiFi is useless beyond the room it is in, so I use powerline adapters to get WiFi around the house. Would a mesh system be better at this job?
Would I need a super expensive one like this?
Lots of questions, hopefully the experts on here can advise.
The problem is as the WiFi bands increase 6, 6E and now 7, distance decreases. So like you and me having thick walls your not benefitting unless you cable as its likely going to move to 2.4g, or 5g if your lucky.
If you mesh, what is important is having tri-band as it gives a 3rd band the hubs use to transfer data over, meaning the other 2 are dedicated to user use.
If like me and you cable, then having a 2.5g port is important (which this has) . People might say 10g but in real world scenario for the house it's not needed.
My house has thick walls, if I uncable and use WiFi mesh with these, it's faster than powerline but not by much. However when cabled it reaches every room of my house with an Asus router and two of these.
Reduced as WiFi 7 is out now, but I think at this price you'd get a good few years out of these no problem before devices catch up with WiFi 7.
