Don't know why you would get one without the light, unless you were strapped, in which case look over your shoulder, maybe you have a bad neck and are strapped! In any case the light changes flash pattern when a car is detected, and the battery lasts for ages, flash mode can be controlled from your Garmin, so worth the extra IMO. (edited)

The cheapest I can find with the light is £129.99. It's quite a lot more.

If you've already got a decent light, then if a driver is going to not notice that, they're not going to notice the one on the RTL515. The main purpose of this is to tell you something is coming, not to alert drivers that you're there.

I had this, as had a decent light, but after a couple of years have swapped it over to the 515 as it took too much space, but wouldn't go without one of these now, they are brilliant, and have stopped me jumping out of my skin, on country lanes when a car suddenly arrives!
