About this deal

HiBy R6 Pro II (Gen 2) Digital Audio Player DAP - £569 save £130.

This is a niche product, that will only be of interest to those who are into high res music.
Note I dont claim to have golden ears, but when I listen to music I give it my full attention.
Why not use your phone, well the DAC's in phones are pretty awful ( in general I have had an LG phone but would say evena cheap external dongle is better), plus the storage isnt great ( these have support for upto 2GB cards). Why not use a dongle DAC, I did and I have had several including the excellent Hiby FC4 ( which I would recommend as an cheap introduction to high res and the benefits of a good quality dac). However these but a lot of strain on the usb c port and android certainly is a bit sensitive to dongle wiggle when out and about. I questioned the investment in this myself but I am pleased to say the sound has surpassed my expectations, noticeably better than the FC4 ( note this is with SACD rips of well mastered recordings, its not going to turn water into wine, so MP3's, poorly mastered stuff and CD rips that have been compressed due to the loudness wars will still sound thick and muddy)

  • The HiBy R6 PRO 2 audio player is equipped with AK4191+Dual AK4499EX DAC chips and a femtosecond audio oscillator, supporting the unfolding of audio formats such as DSD1024, PCM1536K, and MQA 16X. Paired with the unique ALLIN audio architecture, it enables the DAC to unleash its full performance potential, delivering clear, pure sound with accurate resolution and a wide dynamic range.
  • This DAP player supports two modes for the headphone amplifier: A-class and AB-class, with a one-click software switch. The A-class mode provides stronger driving power, suitable for high-impedance multi-driver earphones or certain high-end headphones. The AB-class mode offers longer battery life, suitable for most in-ear headphones available in the market.
  • Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor, this music player runs on the Android 12 operating system with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage (expandable up to 2TB). It offers smooth operation and seamless performance on mainstream streaming music platforms. It globally bypasses the system's sample rate conversion (SRC), allowing third-party applications to enjoy high-bitrate lossless music. This player also supports the download and installation of third-party applications.
  • The mp3 & mp4 players is equipped with 3.5mm and 4.4mm PO/LO and USB 3.1 interface, supporting USB DAC, coaxial, and LineOut outputs. This is also an MP3 player with Bluetooth and WiFi, supporting Bluetooth 5.0 and bidirectional Bluetooth transmission for Hi Res wireless audio transmission. With dual-band WiFi, it easily enables functions such as DLNA, AirPlay, and WiFi song transmission.
  • The android mp3 player features a 5.9-inch 1080P large screen and is equipped with a 5000mAh high-capacity battery. The DAC, I/V conversion, LPF, and output sections are designed with independent power supply lines to ensure pure power delivery without interference.

Unless your phone supports a high-quality audio pipeline like an LG or Samsung, most others are actually normal quality, even if you connect fancy headphones/LDAC.

This product however stores the music, will play using a high quality pipeline, and has a built in amplifier for high impedance headphones. (edited)

Not sure where you are coming from with "high-quality audio pipeline". Any phone using USB Audio Player Pro app play.google.com/sto…=US
will bypass any Android audio restrictions.
