Has anyone bought one of these I find playback to be really jumpy where as my roku or even the tv apps run a lot smoother.

Nope, silky smooth, have 2 and the work flawlessly, you sure you don't have the 1080 not 4k one as the specs are lower

Why would you need this when most 4k tvs are smart 💁‍♂️

Because some people have older smart TVs in which the OS is becoming buggy and unresponsive. Buying a Chromecast or Fire TV Stick can revive an older set.

    Always see the bigger picture.

Bought exactly this model last time it was on sale. The user interface is pretty awful and some apps are unresponsive. Some apps like more4 aren't even available on it either, that might not be googles fault but it's a consideration.

There is a painful bug, where it forces iplayer adverts on the main page, which people can very easily accidentally click on, even if you remove iplayer app, or switch it to app only mode.

The only way to remove them is to install a 3rd party launcher, which is fiddly, and some apps like YouTube don't work properly in 3rd party launcher mode. Others may have different experiences, but as a technical person, this was an immense pain in the rear. I wish I bought an apple TV.

Reading the comments I regret buying two for the living room and bedroom haha! Like others say I've got a basic 4k TV and the UI is slow so should hopefully be better than that at least I
