Got mine yesterday here are my first initial thoughts on this phone and i have them all lol.

Compared to other fold phones i think i have had most of them inc all the samsung folds and this one blows them away in terms of slimness and hiding that crease (How did they do it)?. Well in comparison to build quality this is second to none its simply astounding build quality from the glass to the screen quality OLED. Battery life so far has been amazing and is going to be a winner for sure . Camera is great and has good options and the best feature i was so pleased about as being a youtuber the video has a pause function (Yes Apple i am talking to you?) This option alone is a god send for me. I have managed to change the launcher to Nova launcher Prime i much prefer this but dam they done a great job of stock launcher too. The provided case is good but dont offer full front protection have ordered another case from AliExpress. Both the front and inner screens have factory fitted screen protectors so no need to buy one just get a case. From all the phones i have had in my time i have lost count this is the flagship. As for the older cpu not having the gen3 it dont bother me as gen 2 is still flagship and more than fast enough. I can highly recomment this phone if any on the fence take it from someone that has used manu many phones in his time this is the way.

Thanks for your write up. Have you had the Oneplus Open and can compare? I've heard very mixed opinions on the honor software, but right now it's significantly cheaper than the Open. I've been on Samsung phones for a while and personally really like their software so feel like it is an important part of the phone

I have this phone since November last year. I've got the ultimate 1tb version with stylus from China and they pushed Google on it later.
Honestly, I don't know why all phones are not like that, it's awesome! It feels like normal phone in your hands and pocket but then you can open it and it turns into tablet. Battery, camera and performance is great. The Oneplus open is the slightly better phone but is very thick and feels like two phones on top of each other. I got mine for £1400 without extras and proper global rom and I'm really happy. My only gripe is that it doesn't have dolby atmos and the sound it's feeding my premium headphones is not customisable as I wished it to be.
So if you wonder - go for it, it's great and at a good price plus extras.

can you get us an employee discount code?
  3. jbaggs's avatar
I've had the global version of this for about 3 months as a beta tester for Honor. If anyone's on the fence I'd highly recommend it. Having used almost every other foldable this is a cracking piece of kit.
    vassy4u's avatar
Can I join as a beta tester please ?
  4. jamie15's avatar
Knew this would already be posted by when I found it That trade-in without sending a phone is very strange

Btw anyone can get the £300 off code by entering email here, using UNiDAYS code, or entering the serial number shown in the screenshot here (edited)
    TJToon's avatar
Received codes in minutes thanks alot 🔥
  5. quglarz's avatar
For that price a Snapdragon 8 gen 2 and very medium camera ? Much better go for S24 Ultra if I'm honest
    ezzer72's avatar
Nah, Samsung phones are never the better option - just the 'default' Android brand for the masses.

Have a proper look into it, almost always better options.
  6. Dave2105's avatar
I've tried reading up on the trade in thing and it's quite confusing.

When you go to the conditions they also say you can trade in your phone at a value that they generate, but would that be added onto the £200 or what? I've got a Z Flip 4 which Id be tempted to trade in at £210 along with the £200 Bonus, but i want to be guaranteed that's the deal.
    MrSwitch's avatar

Will be honest, I'm confused by it also, so I'd just take the £200 for nothing, and sell the flip4 privately
  7. bluejmc2005's avatar
OK so here are my brief first impressions - in a word, amazing! I cant believe it weighs the same as any other "ultra" device, its incredible what they have managed to do. Full android integration so that is superb.

Screens - both fantastic, the crease is superb compared to folds etc. The PWM rate (if you know you know) is fab, no eye strain or issues. Superb colours and simply cant fault
design - its the most premium device I have ever used, and I have used most. simple as that
    Software - typical honor/huawei, which I like.
Battery life too soon to say but seems good

    I am over the moon

    Better than oneplus open?
  8. Stephen_Barraclough's avatar
Reading reviews and stuff and people saying it has Gbox and Gspace, no GMS google services. Which i assume means no android auto which is a big must for me.
    cablecarcompany's avatar
Don't believe everything you read. This is the global version of the phone and it has everything that a Samsung phone has and that includes Android Auto. I am using it wireless Android Auto in my car.
  9. Bob1103's avatar
A little confused by the amount of offers on the page. Do you have to pick one and not apply multiple?

This link has loads of them hihonor.com/uk/…v2/
Looks like you can get £ 300 off at the bottom of the page.

They also offer £100 off to students. Does this stack?
    Dave2105's avatar
Unfortunately the voucher codes don't stack. Just the £200 trade in offer and then £200/£300 depending on the voucher picked. The £100 student offer gives you a £300 voucher which can't be stacked with the aforementioned £200 one.

I've been following these for months, think I'm going to pull the trigger. TCB is worth a try

For those trying to choose between colours, I think the black with its leather back looks tacky HOWEVER, it is 6g less heavy than the purple glass version, it is also thinner than the purple one. So I think I'll go with that (will be covered by case anyway)

Speaking of case, I think it comes with one in the box, but doesn't seem very protective. Anyone have any case recommendations? (edited)

7.9% price increase in April. and then another the following year it's going to be more like £1900

Can't find much info on this so here it goes:
Does the honor magic v2 have desktop mode (USBC video out)?
    realdeals's avatar
It comes with a USB Type-C 3.1, OTG, Display Port 1.2
  13. AshadMamood's avatar
This absolutely destroys any Samsung foldable phone. It's better in every way.
    Dave2105's avatar
I just got a OnePlus Open used for £865 a few days ago, had a tiny ding on the chrome which is hidden by the case anyway. But tempted by this for £300 more brand new. But as far as I can see on reviews they're almost neck and neck apart from the thickness?
  14. Mister35mm's avatar
£1300? For a chinese phone? In your dreams (folding or not).
    blonk's avatar
Apple (made in China) retail for more than this ?
  15. DealTron's avatar

It launches at MWC, should be available to buy in March
  17. Dave2105's avatar
For anyone pulling the trigger, my work perks also has Honor offering 5% cashback, so worth checking. That would be another £60 or so off.
    vassy4u's avatar
    Checked perksatwork. Nothing
  18. cricket123's avatar
What. Is that a glitch that you don't have to send a trade-in?
    Rellik088's avatar
I bought a HONOR Magic 5 Pro last Black Friday that had the same offer. Not a glitch. I didn't send anything.
  19. Foley2001_uk's avatar
Literally just ordered this and agree, the £200 trade in bonus comes off the price right away, no need to trade anything in… bizarre but I’ll take it, £1299 paid
    Feargal's avatar
Have they fixed it i wonder only getting £1499.99 using tradein / voucher.

£1300 for 8 Gen 2 is a no go TBH
    Pspvita's avatar
If it too slow for you? I wouldn’t pay the extra $$$ just for a faster nano second in speed from last years cpu.
  24. ady85's avatar
Will this phone hold its resale value?
    Anthony_Wesson's avatar
sadly on android end, unless it's Samsung it rarely holds value, Even Samsung loses value after a year. It's been an honor, FYI this phones 6 months old
  25. TJToon's avatar
My first impressions after recieving today, super thin foldable.. adjustable brightness is far to dim so may have to turn it off and set to half way, os seems lacking quite similar to Samsung os but with less features, fast mobile with decent enough cameras,no crease can be seen when watching content on the big screen, it's oled so the quality is also spot on. Battery life is amazing!

Experienced a bug where auto rotate is not working all the time even when it's turned on in the settings which is annoying when watching content.

I might hold on for the new update whenever that is.. heard the beta is out next month..so far a solid 6/10 (it may grow on me will give it a few days)

I just read almost exactly the same comment on reddit. If you're not the same person, then very interesting to see if this view is going to be shared by a lot of people

feel like with this and the OnePlus Open, the hardware is finally at a reliable level, just a shame the software doesn't seem to have quite been ironed out yet.
    ohsomeonenew's avatar
Open is not reliable. Many broken screens
  28. Jonand_Linda's avatar
Will Top cashback work on this too? Or is that a bridge too far....
    Deal_Er's avatar
I don't think it will work as they clearly state this as a reason to stop getting cashback - "

Redeem Bang & Olufsen headphones....any good this headphones?
    Potterified's avatar
I searched online for them and can't find them on sale at many online retailers. Google did provide one EU link which was €400 and Amazon sells them exclusively to business customers for £279. But not easy to find...
  31. Horrorwood's avatar
The headphones will be barcode no. 5705260096897

They'll probably come in plain box packaging.

On the trade in, they mean you don't have to give them the phone to get the immediate discount, they give you the discount before you send the phone in the post, I looked into it when they sent the emails out.

    Hope this helps -

one is already for sale on Ebay right now , still 40% below selling price with a few days left to go , i think this will not sell for more than £900
  38. caf's avatar
If they’re giving the trade in money off up front is there anyway they can enforce it? I can’t see how they can get the £200 back after you’ve received the phone. Plus
the link to make the trade in they sent after purchasing doesn’t work.
    Deal_Er's avatar
They have mentioned that there's no need to send the device. It's optional.
