sorted byChromeOS is able to run Linux containers, so can run Linux software. It can also install Android apps from the Google Playstore. So you can't run Windows apps unless they have been made for ChromeOS. You can't install Microsoft Office. You can use an online version of MS Office as you can Google Docs/Sheets etc. You can't install iTunes on a Chromebook. You can but it's far too technical for a novice. You can't run Adobe software on ChromeOS.
ChromeOS is all about ease of use and speed. The OS feels quicker to use than Windows, it is more lightweight resource wise than Windows. It really depends what software you want to run. Windows has access to more software and has more settings and can do more however for general usage a Chromebook can be the simpler option.
The only issue I have at the moment is I can't get the back-lit keyboard to light up. I've tried ALT plus brightness buttons with no luck. Will keep persevering.
