Although the deal looks reasonable, take a look at the Trustpilot reviews of this company. You'll find quite a mixed bag there - and quite a few alarm bells about these sort of deals and their customer service. I had an awful experience with them, and had to resort to getting my card company to block payments.

Exactly the same here... never received the SIM and took 4 months to get the initial payment back!!! I also had to get my card company to prevent them taking any more money. (edited)

So it’s free bit only if you pay for another month? Or if you turn off auto renewal you get charged for the free trial? Can’t work it out

    Lyca is always confusing!

You'd be better off the 1p or 5p a month for 6 months. Search Lyca on here (edited)

Don't bother, ported in and back out within a week. Bad bad data coverage, webpages hardly loaded. Went back to Lebara and its 100x better. I'd use them again but only to port in and out, turns out that was the best thing to do as I got another good Lebara deal now.

dumb excuse it has nothing to do with lyca all the providers which use telefonica will have this issue.

I've ordered a sim but no ideal what the plan is as the 2 emails I received don't contain any information on it.
    Umm...
    mutley1's avatar
They never tell you and you only know when you stick the SIM in your phone and activate. So you just need to keep your fingers crossed that they have given you the correct plan.
  5. manicmidlander's avatar
Check you've turned auto renew off during activation.

I will say, stay away from Lycamobile. They will lure you and then dump you when you need it most. Customer service is horrible. I took lycamobile around two months ago and gave it to my 14year old son. He took it to Europe on school trip, rest assured that he can contact us or teacher in emergency. Lycamobile collected money as follows 22 Jan, 24 Feb and then 26 Mar. Unfortunately, 26 Mar was weekend hence bank processed the payment but did not clear it since weekend. Lycamobile cancelled my SIM plan and my son stranded without any active mobile plan. I contacted lycamobile by phone (6 times), chat (20 times) and email (twice) but to no avail. Lycamobile keeps repeating that payment failed and now i can not renew the plan. It was auto-renewal, payment dates were controlled by Lycamobile hence I am unable to understand, what should I have done better? Probably, I should not have joined Lycamobile!

I ordered last time, still waiting for delivery. Sent email to them no reply

If youve an iPhone forget Lyca Mobile. No 5G or Wifi calling, both android only. Ported in, now porting out within 24 hrs. My mistake for not looking into this before signing up. Hope this helps others (edited)

You can't go over your bundle

'30 days trap offer" would be more suitable name
  11. Ricky650's avatar
Unless the sim arrives with paperwork detailing the offer I will bin the sim.
I'm with Lebara at the moment and it's faultless.

    Terrible customer services. STAY AWAY

I'm on a penny a month for 6 months with 2 Sims, so if I find 12p on the floor it'll have paid itself off!!

    First month's payment sorted yesterday

Anyone had any luck getting o2 to lower their SIMO monthly cost by comparing with Lyca/Lebara?
  15. TristanDeCoonha's avatar
Go via TCB for £5 cashback. No mention of the obligitory 2 months to qualify as they do with Lebara
    p3108's avatar
Haha, just ordered one using the TCB link to the 6GB free offer with £5 TCB and again paid using PayPal but without needing to actually log into PayPal itself.
  16. iKris's avatar
Do you have to turn off auto renew if you never activate the SIM card

Good find and thank you for sharing.
Already with Lyca and no issues as of yet
    Heat added
  18. Ricky650's avatar
    Chat live is useless.
Tried calling them and want able to find a workable option to speak with anyone
  19. mutley1's avatar
i had the 1p lyca deal. been with them for a week and the data speed doesn't seem too bad and had 3 calls and they were fine. i had a call today and the signal was so poor, you could hear whoosh and gurgling in the background like someone is brushing their teeth! the sort of sound you hear if you used those cheap numbers to call abroad!

i am going to switch back to lebara as you can't rely on the lyca call coverage and it seems i am going through their dodgy network for calls.
    morty's avatar
Again as mentioned to another comment like this it has nothing to do with lyca this will happen to all the providers using the same network and a lot of these issues are peoples phones (I bet you didnt even try manually switching to the likes of 3g or even 2g or maybe restart your phone)

Good find and first deal! Thanks for taking the time to share,

Sent cs@lycamobile.co.uk an email asking for my order to be cancelled and all my data deleted.

anyone know how to get an eSim going with them? aparrently there should be a QR code but nothing came in the pack with the Sim card?
  23. Chris_R23's avatar
worst company ive ever dealt with, they want to rely on being all automated..lost count of how many times i made contact, apparently they call it live chat, its not, there scripted responces and when the computer doesnt know the answer thats it connection lost, gave them a chance by trying a second time, but thats it, done with them, even if it was free i wouldnt bother, good luck with lyca
    Ricky650's avatar
    Totally agree.
Live chat is a bot and if you call for a live person, you are told they're too busy
No option to speak to anyone when you call
I emailed them yesterday and no response, so I've resent the email asking them to delete all my data.

Shocking. Do not waste your time (edited)
  24. p3108's avatar
Any idea how long we have to activate these and still benefit from the free month? Thanks. (edited)
  25. p3108's avatar
I paid using PayPal. It didn't ask me to login into PayPal it just came up with the order complete page. Odd. (edited)
    gemmac303's avatar
Did you get an order confirmation email? Also, what browser did you use when placing the order?
  26. p3108's avatar
    £7 for TCB Plus.
  27. p3108's avatar
Just had a text today reminding me that my free trial will end in 10 days. Its not clear to me whether it will default onto a paid plan as I didn't have to login to my PayPal when paying (or not) nothing for the free trial so they don't have any payment method or details for me.
  28. p3108's avatar
So I can confirm that having ticked PayPal as payment method but having not had to enter my PayPal account then at 30 days, unsurprisingly my payment method has failed and the free trial is over.

I have a few more free trial SIMs here to use.

However, the party is over on this one. I did check a few days ago and it was still active but whilst the landing page is still there, it then transfers you to other deals not the free one.
  29. p3108's avatar
I can confirm that I had Topcashback pay out £7 for one of these (20GB). So I got a 20GB burner SIM for free that I ended up activating and using a few weeks ago just as a back up for an EU holiday trip in case I used more data that my main SIM has on free EU allowance. It turned out our accomodation had WiFi and so I didn't really need this but I got paid £7 for using it anyway . As I ticked pay using PayPal they never actually took any credit card details from me and they just automatically expired at the end of the 30 days.
