My lebrara runs out in may, would it be ok to get this now and activate it then?
    AL1S0N's avatar
Yes u have 90 days to activate it
  3. grilli's avatar
Lad is off to USA in April, will the data work there?
    KodaBear's avatar
Yes, but you'll pay £5 per 50MB with a data pack or £2 per MB Without a pack. It's not inclusive.

Three PAYG Will let you use your UK Allowance up to 12GB at no extra cost. EE SIM Only will let you buy a one-off roaming pack for £10 that will let you use your UK allowance up to 50GB at no extra cost.

All other UK Networks charge for US Roaming. So your only other option would be to pick up a local prepaid SIM upon arrival in the US.

Is there an option to set cap on this, so that I don't get billed if I use picture messaging or other chartable items or go over the International minutes or even once I have used my allocated data allowance.
    KodaBear's avatar
It’s a pay as you go network. Unless you top up you can’t go over. Just make sure you don’t enable auto top ups and you’re all good.
  5. SiFiUK's avatar
Note that there's no WiFi calling on Lyca, that's a deal breaker for me, might be for others so just pointing it out, incredible value otherwise - HOT! (edited)
    6moe66's avatar
Does this include wifi calling if tjhe sim card was in a dongle providing Wifi? As in, still calling from your regular phone/number but connected to the Mifi network?

I'm about to switch a second number from Lebara to Lyca. Can you manage 2 Sims through 1 account like you can on Lebara? Ta
    KodaBear's avatar
No. Every mobile number is it’s own account and is managed separately.

Would very much appreciate some HUKD wisdom please. Lyca or libara for reliable roaming across Europe? Daughter going on a coach trip to Italy and really don’t want to pay the £2 passport rip off that her Sky Sim offers. Would love to hear anyone’s thoughts, thank you x
    usenetz's avatar
Hi, I’ve used both in the UK and EU and have no hesitation in saying that Lebara is more reliable, faster, better app and website, better setup and admin; in just about every area I can think of Lebara comes out on top with just one exception.

That one exception is eSIM which currently is only available on Lycamobile and the setup is very easy and well implemented.

I ordered a Lyca £0.01/month SIM as a test which arrived the other day. I then ordered 2 more successfully on the same details including the same credit card. Then it blocked the next one as suspected fraud. Then I changed credit card and ordered another 3 successfully. I need one more but every card and email address that I try is now blocked as suspected fraud so contrary to what I've read elsewhere on HotUKDeals, you can't order unlimited amounts of these SIMs.
    adam.yacub's avatar
wait lyca is blocking them? I guess its much cheaper going for the 1p but a bit less convenient
  9. duggie1982's avatar
Is it easy enough to cancel and can you do it in advance of the 6 months price ending?

Thanks, ordered one for my ipad too (edited)
    nigelbutler's avatar
You can cancel Auto-renewal by dialling *190# and entering 1 to confirm the cancelation. This option is also available online. Log in to your My Lycamobile account and go to Overview > Click Here to View Bundle Details > View Details > Cancel Renewal.22 Jan 2018

Thanks for this. I came off of the Lebara network about a week ago to this. I found Lebara a more stable and faster network. Lyca call quality seems to be poor and internet dropouts can happen in places where Lebara was fine. It comes down to where you are and how it works for you I guess. But can't argue with the price. (edited)

anyone on lyca and can tell me how to switch off call forwarding?

when i make a call a message comes up which states that "conditional forwarding is active" and when i look in my phone call app, it forwards to +447404000231 when i am unreachable. I can't change this number or remove this setting to no forwarding.
    KodaBear's avatar
That’s just your voicemail. If you want to disable voicemail you can dial *185#
  12. miffy93's avatar
I'm on Lyca at the moment, so if I want to take this deal out and keep my number would the following steps work:

Order SIM (90 days to activate)
Cancel existing auto renewal and get PAC
Get SIM from another provider (IE Lebara)
Activate Lebara SIM and port number in Use Lebara for a month then get PAC to port number back into new Lyca SIM once activated.

    Does that sound about right?
    mutley1's avatar
Yes. But you don't need to cancel auto renewal as the pac code will cancel the renewal when used and the account will be closed.

You can be a cheapskate and order a free PAYG SIM with three or Vodafone, and port your current lyca number there, then back out the next day to lyca. You don't need to stay a month before porting back out. You ask for the pac code the next day after porting in. I haven't done it, but others have done this cheapy port option.

Can't find any reviews online for Lycra mobile
    Wombatwilson's avatar
Maybe look for something less with nylon if you try Lyca you may find it.
  14. barryboy89's avatar
Its a great deal but they are a truly awful network. I signed up to them about 6 months ago on a great deal but when I tried leave and they made it a nightmare getting my PAC code
    Gohan123's avatar
You dont need to speak to them....you can use text to get your pac.
  15. gardner1's avatar
I expect some tasty Lebara deals will arrive very soon
    Gohan123's avatar
Somehow i very much doubt it...get the lyca deal if signal is ok.
  16. canttouchthis's avatar
    When does this deal end
  17. theoftus's avatar
How do you cancel with Lyca? Lebara were amazing but can't get a hold of lyca
    usenetz's avatar
If you just switch-off auto-renew then your SIM and number will eventually de-activate or you can use a PAC to move your number if you want to keep it or a STAC if you just want to deactivate number.

You can cancel Auto-renewal by dialling *190# and entering 1 to confirm the cancelation. This option is also available online; login to your My Lycamobile account and go to Account Manager | Auto Renew plan and select OFF

Will this work for people on Lyca already? If not, how can work out it so I can get it, any help or advice is greatly appreciated, it's for my wife and son.
    AL1S0N's avatar
Yes u don't have to be a new customer. Just order however many Sims u want
  19. sadimua's avatar
How do we cancel our previous deal?
  20. sjoshi's avatar
Lyca terrible network reception gonna switch back lebara.
    smackos's avatar
It's depending on where you are like any SIM and provider. It's essentially comparing o2 to Vodafone in any given location. They all vary. At work I can get 5g at full signal strength in my canteen, whilst if I walk down the set of stairs from it I can just get 3g. At least it's that way round for me.
  21. bargainbonanzagalore's avatar
I know lyca runs on o2 and even though hate o2 with a passion this deal is too good.

Those who using lyca atm is Internet speeds still bad and signal coverage poor as well as on o2?

    Has the calling on lyca?
    KodaBear's avatar
    49839470-tB4bu.jpg
But the important thing to note is that you can drop to 3G and make the network run faster. O2 is the only network not shutting down 3G which is handy.

    49839470-m3Yy4.jpg
So that brings your speeds to more like this - Very usable and more than enough even to stream videos with for example.
  22. Midge's avatar
So is it ok to have this for a 6 month period as a spare sim and then turn off auto renewal in month 5, lose the number (or port out and then back) . . . and then start again?
    KodaBear's avatar
Yes that’s exactly what most here are doing
  23. cheaperbythe12's avatar
Darn....just got a similar SO deal for 50gb with Voda retentions for new contract for £12 and doesn't have EU roaming. Should've just gone for something like this, esp going to Italy and Croatia in a few months.
    finknottle's avatar
If you’re within 14 days of taking out the new contract you have the right to cancel penalty-free under the cooling-off period. If Vodafone signal is good for you then I’d go with a cheap Lebara deal. Better than Lyca in every way (just read the comments above!) and you can use your entire data allowance for EU roaming, whereas Lyca are incredibly stingy - with this deal for instance your monthly data will be capped at 2GB when roaming. Lebara via Uswitch are doing 15 GB for £2.78 (half price for three months) or 21 GB for £3.18. Click through to Uswitch from Topcashback or Quidco and get £11 or £12 cashback, no-brainer! Just remember to cancel auto-renewal in month 3 if you don’t want to pay full price thereafter. (edited)
  24. coolstar's avatar
I just ordered the £2.50 10GB Lyca deal yesterday which is much worse value than this. What's the best way around this to get the cheaper option? (edited)
    HSunny's avatar
You should have 14 days, check terms and conditions - call customer service
  25. simat's avatar
Can't complain for the price, but customer service is very basic. The EU roaming data is capped to a lesser amount of data, but they couldn't tell me the exact figure. They say that roaming is only for occasional use and short trips...

Also my Samsung says a new sim card has been detected when I'm abroad and forces a restart, after that data and roaming have to be manually turned on!
    jazzyb88's avatar
Main page where you go to purchase a plan the T&C's state EU roaming cap is 2gb. Surprised they couldn't tell you that!
  26. Gareth_Collins's avatar
I want to keep my original mobile number is this possible?….If it is and I get this deal and then cancel just before it gets to the 6 month mark, how do I then make sure that I keep the same mobile number on my next sim and so on and so fourth?…..Any advice would be greatly appreciated guys…..(y)
    KodaBear's avatar
Text PAC to 65075 from the SIM that currently has the number you want to keep. Give that code to your new provider and it will move your number on the next working day.

Just repeat this again when you want to leave again and go elsewhere to another network.

Just note that you can’t port to the same network. You always have to go elsewhere first.

Does anyone know whether under 'set auto top up' , when the enable / disable auto top up is displayed as 'ON' - does that mean it's actually off?? Pretty sure I did not turn this feature on. Thanks
    mutley1's avatar
it's a bit confusing but the default is OFF even though it states on as you haven't chosen an auto top up amount. so if you just leave it as it is, then it means you haven't set auto top up. this is where lyca doesn't seem to understand english at all.
  29. Rudz's avatar
I tried looking up on the website with little luck ? which countries does the free 100 minutes cover please ? Does it include India ? Anyone know ?
  30. IamOpica's avatar
How many Lyca Sims can you have per household?
    KodaBear's avatar
As many as you want. As long as they are physical SIMs. eSIM is one per month max.
  31. adam_2004's avatar
I got a lebara 94p deal that expires on 14th May, can i purchase this lyca deal now and not activate until 10th May when I get my PAC from lebara? Thanks
    dips's avatar
Yes, you should be fine. You usually have 90 days from order to activate the SIM.
  32. samspud's avatar
Silly question - do Lyca just keep on deducting 94p/month from my debit card, or do I need to have a top up balance for them to deduct from?
    mutley1's avatar
They deduct it as long as you have auto renewal set to on. That should be default when you activate your plan. You have to be aware that the renewal may not work because of Lyca system not being able to collect, probably system error. Then you're stuffed.

    So hope for the best.

I got the same. I am wondering if my data is endless indeed or it isn't but just shown as if it is. The problem is I can't see how much data I've used either.
