About this deal

This deal is back this weekend. It always expires at the end of Sunday.

PRC Direct has been discounting this for the last few weekends. The deal always ends Monday. I bought 3 weeks ago and Sony has confirmed the 5 year free warranty by email. I wanted a Freesat compatible set as I only have a dish.

Can you tell me the distance between the legs of the stand.
I believe some models have two settings, one being a lot narrower, but not on the 50".

Is this the same TV from EE with £150 off, making it £450 with code 50SONYTV?

It seems so. Look at the product code on EE. it looks the same. Just check the warranty.

Lots of FREEVIEW TVs will be going cheap in the next few months as FREEVIEW is being replaced by FREELY. According to the promo blurb from FREELY, existing FREEVIEW tv sets can't be upgraded, so manufacturers will be looking to off-load the old models.

Freeview will still work. It's not being replaced according to techradar.com/str…ned

@Bavy do you use a soundbar with yours or is it unnecessary?

Confused over TVs now, my 2016 Sony XD8305 had a 100hz panel, yet these newer ones have a 60hz panel. Looks to be near double the price for the new 120hz ones.

Thing is the panel itself will be better quality, better colours and darker blacks (though not oled or even qled levels) so it’s really whether 100hz and most likely not supporting Dolby Vision on your old tv is more important.  That and the menu will be vastly improved with the newer Android operating system (which I personally love on these newer Sony TVs)

I thought the warranty was through Sony themselves and was for certain tv models, this being one of them.

No use buying ANY tv unless it has a five year warranty, unless you want a hefty repair bill.
    ForzaGTC's avatar
Sony only offer to certain retailers for certain products apparently.

PRC don't look to deliver to NI...typical. Really wanted the 5yr warranty

Try Richer Sounds for a price match. They have it for £599 and a 6 year warranty.

Bluetooth 4.2 is a deal breaker for me as I use multipoint headphones.

I still have a 42" Bravia HD (with the Playstation-style XMB menus), and the quality, to this day, is absolutely phenomenal...all the bells and whistles you can imagine (of it's day). When I eventually get a non-PC-related 4K display, it'll definitely be a Sony, as it just feels so premium and well-engineered.

To claim you need a photo of the serial number on your TV and a VAT invoice (I had to email PRC to request this as VAT wasn't shown on my order confirmation, they responded quickly).

Not all retailers are included in the 5 year warranty promotion as discussed earlier in this thread.
