Would someone DM me a BLC code
    bungler's avatar
If you don't get a code, there is a general 7% off code easily found on Google that works with this

Quick delivery, ordered Sunday morning and arrived on Bank Holiday. I got myself the 55", the version is 55C845KX8 which is the X2 model with Google TV Android TV 12.52820918-Eg2ZF.jpg52820918-6uVbK.jpg

Ours is coming tomorrow. What is the method for checking that's it's the X2 model please?

Oh, and does it have the letter, to claim a Roku stick, I the box? Thanks (edited)

Might be worth speaking to them as I managed to get the 85"mount added yesterday when it was showing as out of stock. Or ask for it to be sent when it is back.

Also, you can get free installation as well in case you wanted that. They wouldn't install the 85" to plywood so they gave me the purifier as well as the mount instead of the installation so no harm in asking for that if you don't want the insallation.

Better than the Hisense U7 Mini-LED? (edited)
    clayts's avatar
Yes - Hisense clip their peak brightness to 600Nits - these go up to eleven. These are more comparable to the U8, but still with the same clipping.

Only issue with these is the 2 year warranty - Hisense offer 5, I believe (edited)

What's the viewing angles like on this
    Watsonage's avatar
I was hesitating between this and the Samsung QN85C deal and this was one of my main concerns, as this is VA with better colours but the Samsung is IPS with typically better viewing angles. I ordered this planning to swap if they were too bad, but after setting it up in my living room which has sofas from the front and both sides, I can't see any issue with the viewing angles at all. The viewing angles are surprisingly good and definitely not worth worrying about for any normal use. I'm pretty glad I chose this despite Samsung's Q Symphony I could have used with my Samsung soundbar.

You can tell by looking into the about section, mine has Android TV OS version 12, the original TCL 55C845K has only Android version 11 (MediaTek MT9615). This is because the X2 has the newer CPU MediaTek Pentonic 700, the stock at Marks Electrical has the new stock anyway.

    Do you mean this? 52823476-nxL5g.jpg

In the settings for the tv in About it will tell you the model. You want to see MT9615. This model will get updates longer as it’s the same platform the 2025 TVs will be using. (edited)

For all that has the Google TV, I recommend SmartTube installation. This provides you an Ads free experience of YouTube.

This is one of the reason why I've cancelled my hisense U8K for this TV. It's a shame that hisense only used Google TV for non European TV (US market). so you are stuck with VIDAA Operating System for European.

Buy a shield TV pro and then buy any TV you want based on picture quality. Don't be tied to a TV os as always worse than a shield. I use Google but bought an LG but will never use webOS.

Had android on last TCL TV and still used shield.

I got the 65” for £760 a few weeks ago on a deal from marks electrical. Both the 55 and 65” have absolutely incredible picture quality.

Is anyone buying air purifiers anymore? My guess that's why they're chucking them in free.

These TV's are totally worth it . A big step up in performance and picture from the cheap ones. the size is perfect if you are watching from less than 15 feet

If you don't use the TCL buttons on your remote or want to remap anything on the remote. I recommend that you install tvQuickAction free app, I've mapped YouTube button to SmartTube and TCL Home to a specific HDMI output.

To enable the mapping go to Settings > System > Accessibility > tvQuickActions > enable.

Then disabled energy optimise for that App to prevent it closing.
Settings > Apps > Special app access > Energy optimisation > tvQuickAction (disable - grey out)
