My local Smyths literally has no amiibo at all now. Crazy, it used to be the best shop for them.
I noticed last weekend that none of the usual stores had any. Checked cex, Game, HMV and even some cex wannabe stores, nothing. Very odd
hmm, are nintendo up yo something? along the lines when the amiibo line was released with hardly no stock anywhere, hmmmmmmmm :|
Heat just for the gif.

Out of interest what did you get?

Wipeout, Crash Bandicoot, Micro Machines, Uncharted (The new stand alone) and GT Sport :) worked out at £24 a game over the 5!

Oh, and heated as its such a great little console.
spasho, noahsdad et al inc me drifted off/got banned/lost the will. Its not the same as it used to be round here imo. too much hate at times then it runs cold for months on end.

I wish they would both come back, I enjoyed both their contributions. Spasho posted great deals and knew his stuff when it came to gaming. Noahsdad was always entertaining with his nations favourite comments X) You need a character now and again a little bit out of the ordinary!

I sold a like new 2ds with alot of good games for less on eBay. This is a bad deal, DS is dead in the water. Buy this and expect to loose half your purchase price immediately. On resale. So very dated.
penguinman93
Anyone know if the pre-installed copy of Mario kart gets registered to your Nintendo ID so I can play on my 3ds also? Or will I have to copy the game over to the other DS? I've been meaning to get Mario Kart, why not get a 2DS while I'm at it!

Neither, digital games are tied to the console itself.
Andyr330
Anyone know what software version is on these ?? :-D

Not 11.4 ;D
Mine was 11.1 from this (Mario Kart) pack.
Get this (or different 2DS bundle) for my sister which she can play with her friends online or locally, or an extra pair of Joycon controllers for her Switch (which will allow her to do local co-op with her friends and the rest of the family)?
For Tesco staff might be worth using direct to get 10% off, they have the Mario Kart version, the Super Mario Bros version and the Tomodachi version at £75.99 - 10% = £68.39

I trust game, got Pokémon Sun a day early lol.

Well, that's no good. Does it look like the one in the picture? Or is the lettering/tag obviously not right?

It does look like the original would, as the picture does.

But i just suspect with it having no outer packaging or even a little cardboard tag on it that its a copy. I could be wrong, it just might be hassle free packaging.

It does not come in offiicial packaging as the original here does https://www.tesco.com/direct/carrying-case-red-2ds/331-0931.prd?skuId=331-0931&pageLevel=sku&sc_cmp=ppc_sh-_-sh-_-tesco-_-331-0931&gclid=CO6An6as0tICFfUV0wod2mwIEw&gclsrc=aw.ds&source=others

BTW thats only £5, i'd just go for that really.

I did see that one. Can't easily get to a Tesco and the £3 delivery bumped it up quite a bit. Thanks for the advice though, hopefully anyone interested in this will check the one out if it's better suited. Cheers :D

Good deal, and a good time to pick one up, I got one last month, and have had a decent hobby looking for really cheap games for it on eBay and Cash convertors, etc.

It's a very nice machine, and battery supposedly lasts longer than the 3ds models.
Does trial prime work for this?. Looking for a 3DS XL so will be spending over £60...
Any idea of the list of cities which this applies to? (Awesome deal btw) :)

The actual 'classic' games selection isnt too clever. And although you could resell if you went physical, I dont see this as an investment title. js. you might as well hand pick a few games in this weekends eshop sale.

Heat from me. Mario Kart 7 on its own is £35.
where are you shopping? you can get it cheaper than launch rrp.
OK I can see Smyths has it for £32. How much cheaper can you get it new?
Yeah thats where I saw it. Digital on ebay it was £15 last time I checked but the seller who always has stock hasnt anything listed atm. it was £20 on tesco direct a few weeks ago but thats over with now. You can get the eu version from amazon france for £27 no import added but postage maybe? sometimes items ordered from frenchie/german amazon get shipped from the uk just because but im not sure you could get away without paying the p+p.

Im gonna have a search as after shooting off it should be cheaper, it must be somewhere.

Release the 2nd wave of 3ds selects titles already Nintendo!
£1 cheaper (£74.99) from GAME for red and white 2DS with either Mario or Tomadochi.

Will this run on a 2DS? All I hear is great things about them.
Yes 100%. If you look in the bottom right corner of the box art there's your confirmation.
You will need to buy a NFC reader though for a 2DS (if don't already have one) for the Amiibo Cards to be of any use.

All those cards look amazing. I'm really looking forward to the online capability of these sports. Horse Racing looks insanely fun! :)
Bonus of being able to play family members. Hopefully they made tennis more playable than their recent tennis efforts. The whole package looks amazing and typical Nintendo!
The cards do look amazing and Nintendo did this brilliant with Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer which is a brilliant game which kids get totally immersed into. However as I found out with that game it gets a bit annoying buying packs of random cards, getting duplicates, and the cost soon starts to stack up.
For those reasons only I am skipping this game. Buying random packs, blind bags for figures etc is one of my pet hates. I know is not just Nintendo, even Lego do it too, just hate it though.
EDIT: PS the many volumes (5 ?) of Animal Crossing cards also each had an optional Collectors Album book released, RRP £11 I think it was. I am prepared to bet my house on there also being Collectors Album books being released shortly for Mario Sports Superstars :)
I have a 3DSXL. And yes I agree. I'll get one pack to be left with one for each sport and leave it at that I think :)

My kid has been playing a 3DS XL since he was 6, never complained about sore hands, or had bother with it. I am nearing 40 and have coped also as has my wife. I have seen other family members play 3DS without such issues to. The new Switch console will weight a bit more (not much) than a 3DS XL for the record. We rarely have our 3DS XL screens angled so that the console is stretched out and flat. Our screen angle varies from game to game to suit. The screen angle goes a long way to the overall comfort level when playing, dependant on game. Not being able to adapt the screen angle and being stuck in such a rigid viewpoint for any individual game has to reduce comfort levels.

Even my old handheld Nintendo games from 35 years ago supported optional screen angles to aid comfort. That just shows how old tech the 2DS unit is.

However as i spend more time on hukd slating the 2ds than tending to my wife's delicate needs she has now left me for a real man. my kids don't want contact either. Atleast ive got my trusty 3ds!

Heat added for the nations most eagerly anticipated deal on its favorite handheld console. And its not mainstream, this is only for niche connoisseurs of rare and indie gaming's lesser known stars like Mario.

ah the usual to and fro of a 2ds posting. The 3d feature is no gimmick, it works on the new models really well. Even the mighty moi doesnt utilise it all the time but some games shine brighter with the feature on.

off the top of my head Pilotwings (which a lot of latecomers to the 3ds might not grab as It was an early release title) is better with the 3d on and is pretty fun for under a tenner (used) Mario 3d land I also thought benefited from the 3d being turned on.

For the record I did reply to comment #34, and have been out for the last 7hrs, but highly frustratingly it seems a few posts have been removed, and I can guess why, as the form book shows the insults start to fly sooner and later from a particular 2DS user, when one dares to highlight some of the many numerous issues with the 2DS. Apparently it is better to just not give people looking at deal threads balanced information to help with a purchase decision. Any hoo am glad to be out of this silly thread now.

FYI I haven't reported any of your comments nor did I insult you in any of the (now deleted) comments. I suggest you grow a back bone.

The fact that you view your obsession with slating the 2DS as "balanced information" is hilarious.

The 2DS doesn't really have any issues.

It's cheap because:

1) No 3D. Your argument is you can disable it from the 3D models in settings. But why pay more just to do this?

2) Single screen and no hinge. The shell covers the screen and splits it in two but underneath there are not two screens.

That's about it. In fact it comes with a charger which the New 3DS models do not and a 4GB SD card when the original 3DS & 3DS XL come with a 2GB.

The buttons feel just as crisp as any of the other models. In fact they feel a lot better than the original models.

If you don't require the 3D, and want something to grip easily or don't fancy your young child with a hinged clam shell then it is a great option especially as it is available for a budget price. It's over 50% less than the new 3DS and even more than that when comparing to the new 3DS XL. You are talking about such a difference in cost you could get two of these for the price of one new 3DS. I expect many parents have chose this option.

It absolutely blows the original 3DS out the water in terms of battery life and ergonomics. That original model was awful to hold and the 3D was so bad.

Yes, the New 3DS model offers more features but I wouldn't say it's worth the price difference.

Care to elaborate on its flaws? Or are you going to retreat (again) once someone dare to challenge your bias.

There will be another one soon enough. We all look forward to reading your posts in the next threads!

Personally i think its a great deal, your getting a brand new 2DS for the price second hand ones are going for on Ebay.
Yes its not the newest model, however to be honest I do really like the 2DS, the 3D is awful in my opinion and not been able to play Snes VC games is no great loss at all. If you think the 3D truly adds something to the games then this is not for you, but from the the people i know who actually own a 3DS, no one uses the 3D on it.
That's my point of view anyway as someone who only purchased a 3DS to play Pokemon on Mario Kart. The new Pokemon Sun / Moon games don't even support 3D anyway.
The 3d on the new models is a big step up from the old ones. It works really well but yeah they should have gotten it right from the start.
The 3D is low down on the list of many reasons to opt for a 3DS or 3DS XL. It is about so many other aspects. A more comfortable playing experience, due to the better control layouts and ability to tilt the screens to the most suitable angles.
Superior screen display with a 3DS XL (try going back to a small screen once your used to it).
Improved battery chemistry, you get a better battery with the newer units.
The latest "new" units have built in NFC (Amiibo) reading capability. A few games only work on the latest tech too, and there may be many more to follow this pattern.
Then there is the whole design aspect of it being less clumsy, more solid, less breakable.
Above all else is the best value for money, and best investment going forward, will have some resale value if you opt for a later tech unit.
nd, the 3d is kinda important to the 3ds. (otherwise we'd just have the 2ds and I know you wouldnt want that!) it was the logical next step in the evolution of the ds/dsi etc. We are talking about the improvment in the new models which is a long way from the og 3ds or the 3dsxl in that it works a lot, lot better.
Control layout and screen tilt have been pretty standard through 3ds - new3ds bar some minor improvements and im pretty sure ive never heard anyone on here go gaga and make a purchase because of the degree of screen angle! (possible though)
Built in amiibo supprt is handy of your into it. The few new3ds only games available wont be added to dramatically there might be one or two. I wouldnt be surprised if its zero tbh. So many 2ds/3dsxl units have been sold last year a slew of new only games would alienate those users to a small degree. It starting to look like putting out snes vc games will be nintendos form of appeasement for new3ds owners expecting more new only titles.
I'd say the new units are every bit as breakable as the xl and the og 3ds. But then it depends how you treat them. Each unit has its niggles be it screen touching or hinge issues its always been that way.
Gaming tech or gaming in general should never be an investment imho. Yes, sometimes you get lucky and spur of the moment flippers will disagree but there is no guarantee with anything. Metroid trilogy on the wii for instance used to garner good money 2nd hand. Then when it was available cheap digitally, physical prices bombed. Thousands more examples like this I expect. Nintendo bits do usually hold their value better, but no one is retiring to the bahamas on them.
I still heart you bro.

Fair enough with the 3D, maybe I have minimised it due to personal tastes as I don't care for the 3D much myself. I have no issues with the implementation of the 3D and it does look very nice, just I prefer to play without it.

I have always questioned the "hinge issues" on here. I believe hinge issues to be a bit of a myth. At best probably rare and mostly surely about bad care if does occur. Often on here in the past the 2DS lovers cite hinge issues on the better models of 3DS playing units, and that's just more nonsense about trying to find good reasons to have bought a 2DS. I am not aware of anyone in real life who has hinge bother in the slightest with DS/3DS/XL in real life. Just the odd person on here.

I find the 2ds much more comfortable. The original 3ds, XL and 'new' 3ds XL have all given me cramp.

Had to vote cold, sorry.
1. Tiny screen.
2. Smaller battery.
3. Poor and uncomfortable game controls.
4. No 3D (Some seem to consider it a plus point) but that is pointless, as is an 'option' with parental controls on other units anyway.
5. Lack of flexibility to angle screens appropriately, ruins a lot of 3DS games.
6. Does not close, leaving screens exposed.
7. General poor overall design and overly unnecessary large size.
8. Old tech.
9. Very low future resale value.
10. Relatively expensive for what it is.

What are you comparing this to? The "new" 3DS and 3DS XL? If anything it should be compared to the original 3DS and holds up well compared to that. I own the original 3DS, 3DS XL and the 2DS - don't have the "new" models as they don't offer a good enough reason for me to personally upgrade.
A lot of what you've stated is just your opinion and everyone will feel different about which version they'd prefer. Out of my 3DS/2DS consoles I use the XL the most with the 2DS only slightly less as I like the bigger screens. I use the 3DS the least as it's the least comfortable for me. My favourite form factor is the 2DS as for me it's the most comfortable to hold.
Now as I said you should compare the 2DS with the original 3DS and this is my take on the points you have listed:
1.Screen size is exactly the same as the original 3DS
2.Almost exactly same battery life as the original 3DS. Maybe a little better if anything.
3.Comfortable to hold and I get less cramp using this form factor whilst gaming.
4.Agreed that there's no 3D but you know how many times I've used the 3D function? For all of probably 5 minutes since I've had these consoles as it's not for me. Strains my eyes so I don't count this as a negative.
5.Flexibility to angle the screens? When using the clamshell models I generally always have them open at the same angle all the time. I can see it affecting gaming if using the 3D function but like I said I never use that. I look head on at the console so I don't see how this is a negative for the 2DS.
6.Yes it's not a clamshell so it doesn't close. This affects portability but arguably makes it more durable as there's no hinges to wear out. I also have screen protectors on all my models so the screens are adequately protected from scratches.
7.Again that's your opinion. In my opinion I like the form factor and the only negative for me as I've mentioned is the portability.
8.I can agree with you about this as the 3DS came out in 2011.
9.That's subjective. I've seen limited edition consoles go for crazy money on occassions. Yes the standard 2DS might not offer much of a resale value but I rarely sell my consoles so again this doesn't affect me.
10.I agree that the price point is probably more than it should be but this deal is for the Pokemon editions of the console and if people are willing to pay that for the colour scheme and the game etc. then that's up to them. The standard 2DS has been on sale for less in the past.
I didn't set out to write an essay on this but I've seen your negative comments about the 2DS on a couple of other threads and just felt like offering my take on the console.

No point me going into any detail mate, have put endless info out on 2DS on my part and our opinions are clearly so far apart. However fair enough you have a different opinion and you convey it well. No prob with that here.

Thank god that some one could be ar5ed and brave enough to argue with Noah's dad. Am getting sick of his bashing comments every time there is a deal on 2ds on here. You sir deserve a pat on the back!

Sorry but there is a lot if misunderstanding and what the 2DS actually is and what it does do and doesn't do out there. And as you know I really don't rate it very highly at all, as do many others. If sharing genuine product information is "bashing" then so be it.

Of course most more expensive product ranges are better. Imagine if for every Samsung mobile phone post, someone posted why the Galaxy S7 is better. Or why the PS4 is better on every PS3 listing...

Maybe you have another example, but that one surely does not work. A 2DS is a different form of console to a 3DS or 3DS XL console, yet it is specifically designed for playing the exact same "3DS" games and serving the exact same purpose, but in a more limited, reduced options, and less of a gaming experience type of way.

OMG are we still posting dire 2DS deals for this inferior tech. Suggest anyone considering buying this, does the due diligence and researches the limitations and downsides of having a 2DS. The only possible advantage to having a 2DS is lower price, but hey it is ancient and inferior tech, how could it be anything other than cheaper. Do your research folks!

man its a 2DS. Sorry Splasho this has to be cold. Ancient tech, inferior unit. Wouldn't pay £20 for it, horrific way to play any 3DS game. £30-£40 is probably the right RRP for such an abysmal unit, that should not even be for sale. If your on a budget I suggest people look into a second hand 3DS or 3DS XL as a better alternative.

Same old response to any 2DS deal that gets posted.

Well, what you're looking for is a flashcart. There are various to choose from.

I can't recommend which one is the best around as I don't know. I do intend on getting a flashcart myself so I can keep the games all sealed. :)

Do you have an alert set up for 2DS deals ready to criticise, or do you just spot them whilst browsing?

No I just come across it while searching for Nintendo/Mario etc deals and feel inclined to post. Nothing wrong with adding some much needed reality and balance is there?

What a downer ! What about the kids who missing out on the Nintendo Magic, just because, they are to young, for 3D experience ?

That is not an issue. The parents control the 3D settings on any 3DSenabled unit. You set the account password, and choose if 3D is enabled or not. One can only wonder how many of these dreadful units Nintendo shift because of confusion and misunderstanding. We know they only shift so many because it is 'cheaper' but the truth of it is, its an inferior unit for anyone of any age.

why is it so bad? just because it doesn't have the stereoscopic 3d gimmick?
Not so much about the 3D effect but that it can be a bit uncomfortable holding it, though that's subjective to everyone's preference. The quality of the screen isn't of Nintendo's high calibre but this is a low budget 3DS so that's the reason.

The 2DS was retro tech the day it was released. Now it really is just ancient, inferior tech and a dreadful way to experience playing 3DS games. I genuinely would not pay £20 for a 2DS. Dreadful unit, has and serves no purpose. Best get a second hand 3DS or ideally 3DS XL.
you literally go around and comment on every 2ds deal with this type of statement. grow up.

It is called "contributing" to the community. I add constructive information and balance to those deal posts. Many people are not even aware you can disable the 3D functionality via parental control settings on a 3DS unit or 3DS XL unit and buy a 2DS thinking that's the only way to avoid 3D.

Another way to contribute to the site is by posting a deal, give it a try sometimes, look forward to your debut deal post one day.

Buy a thing with a function you don't want or need, and pay extra for it. Use built-in function to disable function you don't want or need, but that you paid extra for. Great idea, mate. It's any wonder why they even make these...

The 2DS was retro tech the day it was released. Now it really is just ancient, inferior tech and a dreadful way to experience playing 3DS games. I genuinely would not pay £20 for a 2DS. Dreadful unit, has and serves no purpose. Best get a second hand 3DS or ideally 3DS XL.

you literally go around and comment on every 2ds deal with this type of statement. grow up.

None in stock, its been £99 since november 2016. Back in November there was only 1 left in stock in the whole of glasgow stores and that was in silverburn. I reserved it but i went to tesco in silverburn instead and got Mario kart version for only £75 and got Pokemon sun separate from amazon after xmas.

Absolutely barking mad, has to be a cold deal for me. Ancient, old, undesirable and inferior unit for playing 3DS games. Simply is old tech, was old tech even the day the first 2DS console was released. A truly dreadful way to experience and play 3DS games. No one would vote a 14" CRT telly hot just because it was cheaper or £60. We would all say it is not worth it and best buy a decent LCD telly or something more modern and fit for purpose. Exact same thing with the 2DS. Honestly not worth paying £20 for, its madness I tell you, madness.
Allow me to counter your points with cheap, robust, kid-friendly, and easy to repair.
The whole point of the 2DS is that it has no 3D capability for infants, where 3D on small screens is not recommended. It has no hinge too which tends to be the first thing to break when kids get hold of them.
My two eldest both have one and they've held up to their torture for two years now without so much as a scuff. 2DS' are tanks and perfectly fit for this purpose.
Nobody is expecting n3DS XL performance out of it.
i agree, ND stop it! the 2ds is ok and fills a gap for some. Just, infants chrisfu? you meant kids right? as their eyes will be shot by 5 if your toddlers have 2ds's.
also don't forget the n3ds is just as powerful (and sexier) as the flappy paddle n3dsxl but heat for the rebuttal!

5 and 6. For the first couple of years they barely touched them as they had LeapPads and the content on that was more suited, but they get a few hours a week each on their 2DS' now that they're more capable with such things. Be assured though that their time on their portables is limited, just as much as their TV time is as well. Most of their 2DS time is when we need a bit of a lie in on a Sunday!

Our eldest particularly has improved her reading with the Biff, Chip and Kipper games, as well as (weirdly) by playing semi-naff games like Monsters High as they're pretty much forced to attempt to read the dialogue. So long as they're not demanding to play the thing all the time, I find that they do them good.

We've got a 2DS and we all love it. The game that's bundled with it is, what, £30 on it's own? So you're getting the console for £45 or thereabouts. I'd say it's far from overpriced personally, but that is of course my opinion and you are of course entitled to yours as well. For us, the extra cost of the 3DS over the 2DS just wasn't worth it. 2DS also comes with a charger, which I believe the 3DS does not (costs another £6, correct me if I'm wrong).
Bugz
Why cold?
It's the cheapest around. The Amazon one is out of stock and offers lowest at £115.
Thanks OP ordering one :)

Might be the best price around, but it is heavily over priced even at this price, and it is an inferior and undesirable unit. Posting 2DS deals is always going to be a bit iffy, best to stick with 3DS.
Well I'm not surprised as it's very popular

That's way over the RRP which is £99.99, I think.
I know but it's still the cheapest available just now - by at least £40.
A few weeks ago it was as low as £70 but now most places Oos so £128 is the best price I have found at the moment. I only shared as I know people are still looking for it before Christmas and time is running out.
It's a 2DS and I recall seeing it on Amazon Spain or France for under 99€. The point is, this'll come back in stock just not during the Christmas time.

It might but I need it for Christmas (as do others). I have been told by a few gaming shops that the Pokemon console was limited so they will no be getting more stock of that particular console. Another batch might appear at a later date I suppose but by then it will be too late for many of us.

I knew loads of people would vote cold when I posted (because someone got a DS on sale 3 months ago for £50 or it was previously in Tesco for £79 etc) but I posted for the people who are looking for this particular console. If your kid has their heart set on something from Santa then you try your best to get it.

There are still a fair few people voting hot on this (obviously the ones who have been searching like I have) so at least that's something.

Dreadful unit, terrible price. Terrible way to play the game or just about any 3DS game. I would only somewhat begrudgingly vote hot on a 2DS console deal if it were £20, and even then.... would not personally pay £20 myself for such inferior and poor tech.
Oos
Tesco has these for £75 with £10 of £75 spend back in the summer. I bought one and used some clubcard points to take it down to £50. My son had it as an early present to use whilst traveling to Lapland last week. He hasnt put it down since! Makes a change from listening to the bloody YouTube videos he watches X)

Last year bought these for £48 from Tesco. How £75 makes it a deal ?

Because people want to buy 2ds consoles for their children for Christmas. This is one of the cheapest prices right now. Last years price is irrelevant to current market price.

someone needs to do an expose on shovel knight and the marketing machine behind it. not the worst game ever but massively overrated
Respectfully disagree - I had a great deal of platforming fun with it though it lacked a little bit of replay value. Some areas were so tough I didn't look forward to revisiting. The DLC adds a lot to the game and changes the way you play it. You didn't seem to have such a great time with it and it's a pity but that's fine. Hope you manage to have more fun with it at some point.
The DLC. I thought that'd be on the eShop but then I saw the amiibo x Shovel Knight trailer and that's the actual DLC.

Such a shame Battletoads x Shovel Knight is an Xbox exclusive. :(

I'm trying to get hold of a 2DS Pokemon Sun console but can't find any stock (at a decent price). My son currently has a DS Lite and CEX will give a £26 voucher for this. Has anybody bought a console from CEX before - a bit worried that if I buy one on-line, it will be heavily scratched, etc? Also, will the game cartridges for a DS Lite fit and play in a 2DS (I know that 2DS games will play in a 3DS)?
Also, in I get a 2DS/3DS and my son wants to upgrade later to a 3DS XL will the cartridges fit in this one, seeing it is bigger? Thank you.

If you want to get a console from CEX, make sure to get one that says it's boxed. These should have very little wear in comparison to unboxed and discounted ones. All DS and 3DS cartridges will work in the 2DS/3DS/3DS XL, (they all have the same size slot for the cartridge).
Want to get a ds,

Will probably play games like Pokemon, monster hunter, smash bros and Marino kart,
Is it worth waiting for 3ds xl to drop down or just get the 2ds?
Thanks
Cheers, If you are a PrimeNow place, they have it as well, got it for a fiver off using code Primenow and they brought it in about an hour
Diab
After buying a 2DS with MK7 last year i've enjoyed using the 2DS a lot, monster hunter is great (and the only retail game that I own) and I say it was worth it just for that.

I'd only buy one if you know you or someone else wants it, with the switch coming in march.

Entirely different consoles though, with entirely different range and style of games. Many will want to do both (our family will be doing both).

I know it's second hand. This is more aimed at people looking for a 2DS to use them selfs. If you are on the look out for a cheap 2DS to use. Keep an eye on Cash Generator website. Aye this is pretty true! ( I got myself Moon and got my son Sun :) )

OOS sadly
Is nothing to do about the price or budgets. That should be secondary, and is only an explanation as to how Nintendo manage to sell any of these.

Is simply just a poor and inferior unit IMO. Of course it is like telling people from Blackpool, that their tower is not as good as the Eiffel Tower.
I have three children, all of which have had a couple of 3DS in their time. My eldest is 11 and stopped playing with his when he was about 8. He's now asked for a new one for Pokemon Sun. Since I don't see this to last all that long, I've been a "cheapo" and bought him the 2DS version, mainly because I'm a student teacher and I'm living within my means. I also bought a 2DS for my youngest son as he only wants it for Pokemon and his 3DS has started to cut out after 3 years.

People shouldn't be judged for what they buy, each has their own reasons for it.

This is a lot of money for such a clumsy, badly designed and inferior unit when compared to the 3DS XL and even the 3DS. There is just no value in buying this.
As mentioned previously it's down to the individual. One person's clumsy is another's perfection.
The cost is high relative to the 3DS, but if it lasts twice as long, as the 2DS is a more robust machine, which one is better value?
How is it more robust? It doesn't even fold? How many people have you heard of with a broken 3DS or 3DS XL? My niece and nephew had their 3DS's for years. My kid has had a 1st gen 3DS XL for 2yrs now and no issues.
There really is no reason to buy a 2DS. Hideous and unpractical flat screen angles and impractical and uncomfortable controller playing. Never mind the relative high price, it just looks hideous and is bad all round. Is credit to Nintendo and their marketing that they can sell such rubbish.
Kids have the broken the hinges on the entire DS range for years it's easily the most common fault
2DS is a good bit cheaper than the 3ds range at the moment pokemon alone costs £35 puts the hardware at about 50 quid
I really don't believe it is common, is always the cheapo 2DS buyers that say this, bit of a myth really. The 3DS is a well made and very "robust" unit, if your breaking it your doing well.

Between my wife and my two kids, they've had several Nintendo devices from the DS range. At least three of the hinged ones have broken, two of them at the hinge. My son has additional needs, as I mentioned in an earlier comment, and has broken many electrical gadgets, and his 2ds is coping well with him. Therefore i think the 2ds is more robust.

So please don't refer to people as "cheapo 2ds buyers" as the only ones saying it. Cos we have bought both on basis of the intended user.

Personally I prefer Sony portable games system anyway.
