Am not a fan of the 2DS.
I think I speak for a lot of people when I say -
We've noticed (_;):p
Am not a fan of the 2DS. You can pick up a digital copy of MK7 on ebay for under £15 or a used physical copy for £20.

I find it difficult to comprehend a 2DS can be off the value of £50 or more. I wouldn't pay £10 for a 2DS myself.
Tesco currently selling this with the Mario Kart game brand new for £69

honest question: as someone who is adamant that they're going to upgrade to a "New 3DS XL" from a 3DS XL (built in NFC etc. - yes, I'm that bad), do you not find the "improved" 3DS of the "New 3DS" to be worthwhile? I heard the head tracking makes it totally worthwhile.
like you, I turned 3D off ages ago - mainly so me and my kid could co-op play. I was kind of hoping I could turn it back on some day. Not that I miss it, as you say. Or even that I'll be able to keep it on, what with the aforementioned co-op sessions.
The improved 3D is much, much better. The old 3DS gives that 'lenticular picture' effect, the new one doesn't to it anywhere near as often - if you enjoyed plating with 3D on with the old console, but turned it off because it was poor, the new one will sot this for you. For me, the "New" console is well worth it for the better screens and I find it comfier to hold too. The gap between the smaller consoles it bigger, perhaps even the "New" normal sized one being better than the "New" XL, but I like the bigger screens. The sound is a LOT better from the speakers on the new consoles too. I'd say do it, you won't regret it!
.

oh I've already bought one in my head, rest assured. knowing that NX is probably going to be the end of the 3DS (given the rumours), I was hoping to hold out and see if there's going to be a clearance of old stock / price drop. there's a few new SKUs coming in November too -->https://twitter.com/NintendoUK/status/765460067000918016. it's not like there's a rush for me to go out and buy one either, what with already owning an "old" one.

This is a good price. It is rare a game like this gets this cheap. Though if you're new to the series I recommend getting either Etrian Odyssey IV or Untold which are both permanently £8.99 on the eShop to see if you'll like this series.

Yes I'm thinking i might get one of those digitally to see if they're my thing first. Thanks for the heads up.

The price is currently £23.49 and that's for a used copy. If the 20% code works it is still a USED copy. Don't believe Magpie sells a NEW anything? Nothing special deal, just an ordinary price for a used physical MK7.
They do sell new but yes this is used but its still the cheapest at this moment.

ebay would disagree

eBay doesn't factor in I'm afraid unless it's a Buy-it-Now with more than one in stock.
great find
No, used on you know where is usually a smidge cheaper than this from memory.
silent hill homecoming in 360 is like £3.70 odd after discount. I picked up rockstar table tennis (proper classic) for £1 odd just there. also noticed trails in cold steel vita is 24.85. Not cheapest its been (19.99) but cheapest at the moment for vita. you can also get the ps3 version on ps3 for £17 on amazon.

Not bad for £60, but damn those things look awkward to hold. I'll stick to my normal 3DS XL and n3DS XL :).

You're actually wrong on that one as they are very comfortable to hold. I had a 'new' 3DS and that cramped my hands after 30 mins of play. The 2DS has never cramped my hands at all even after hours of play.

There's a world of difference between Tamagochi's and Tomodachi Life, and Tomodachi Life isn't even a new game at all.

What does the age of the game matter? If this had Pokemon X or Y it would still be a good deal, despite being old games.

I think they're referring to the "new game" in the title.

There was football sim I played on the DS. It was basic, nothing amazing, but it was playable and good for passing time on the train or whatever. They likely have just updated and improved the game.

Seems like a decent purchase for the price.
Good one, "collectible" that's a very small collection this one and the other Mario minis game.

I've said it before and ill say it again, the code in a box thing is a middling farce. Be a download code or be a boxed retail game being both makes no sense unless you like having an empty box on a shelf in which case shine on you crazy diamond. Heat for the price! But I voted cold.

For this sort of price point you could get a 3DS console off Ebay. Not worth what is a poor unit in the 2DS console just because its under fifty quid.

They actually sell for £90-£98 on ebay.... worth the hassel for a £10-£20 profit after fee's?
the initial rush saw them going for nearly £200. then they slowly came back into stock.

its worth buying 2, keeping 1 for yourself and selling one later down the line when theyre all gone, ( or selling both)

No it didnt. They were selling for £120 at the max in the uk shortly after game and nintendo sold out. The rest were shill bids or just ended listings. I have a collection of pokemon games worth well over £1.5k and i watched this release as petty scalpers tried to make scraps. I got all of mine on release day with no hassle. They were going for more (around £120-40 MAX) just after release as it appeared that they were really limited. Since then pretty much all retailers have had them in, even tesco who is actively severing their deal with nintendo. They wont increase past £130 in years to come for a number of reasons. 1. The boxes arent sealed. This means you cannot prove it hasnt been played. 2. The console is merely a 2ds shell with no embossed images or designs- only colour. 3. The game is a virtual release which is not exclusive to the bundles. 4. It is an og rehash, this means that the og games and og pokemon gameboys will always be more sought after when the dust settles. I have to laugh at people who buy up things in large amounts assuming they know the market. I am the market and you havent got a clue. These will be worth the same as the omega ruby and alpha sapphire 2ds bundles, probably less in a years time.
Update: I got one in Wandsworth
The game farce was just v cheap advertising. The few that did get hold of the system at that covered their costs very easily I assume. The need it as well. Spotted in the wild: Majoras mask just £37 preowned in the Northwich store.

I truly and honestly don't see how Nintendo gets away with their pricing. All your Pokemon info might take about 1MB of their storage and they charge 5£ a year for it. When you can hardly find a company offering less than 10GB cloud storage for free and in reality you are not going to spend more bandwidth with them than on a cloud. This really should be included in the price of the games...
I mean sure, they make good games but in reality a modern smartphone at about 200£ is easily more powerful than 3ds and far more versatile. It's like game consoles vs pcs with the exception that proper gaming pcs are more expensive than consoles...
I am a fan of Pokemon but honestly I don't think Nintendo offers value for money for a long time now...
Controls suck for video games on smartphones though.

+1. nothing beats a decent controller. mobile phone gaming is a nightmare if it gets any more complex than solitare or candy crush.. which isn't reaaaaaally gaming imo.

It really depends, I played Pokemon Black 2 on my android and it worked and looked miles better than it does on the ds. I agree some games have s*** controls but some do it absolutely well, say racing games using accelerometer are awesome and way better than racing with the stick. Also say monument valler and Horn have really good on screen control system.

So a game designed and made bespokely for the Nintendo DS looked better on an emulator on a phone? Seems legit.
I don't know if you understand business. Or consumerism. Or how you saying 'I pirated Pokemon Black 2 and it was great' can possibly be a negative thing. You're not entitled to free stuff because you've made the effort to play some Pokemon games before. You're not entitled to free stuff, you're not entitled to steal games because you don't think they're worth the money.

What a pathetic rambling rant over £5 per year for something you obviously don't want to use.

Wrong, I would like to use it, I am a big fan of pokemon but will never pay for something like this.

I just don't appreciate being milked for cash because I am a fan of what they are doing.

I am happy to pay 20£ per game because there was actual work put into it. I am happy to pay too much for the underpowered hardware they are selling, because it works well and is good enough for their games (and I don't really have a choice if I want to play their games).

"Pokemon bank" on the other hand takes 15 minutes to implement assuming you have a server and it takes so little resources that I would probably be able to run it of my pc at home. (Ok I presume they paid for something a tad bit more stable and faster but still I doubt their expenses are over 10000£ and maintenance is virtually free when you compare the numbers.)

? Not sure how a digital copy of a game can sell out but ok. If your Tesco still has a Nintendo section it might be worth asking what else they have in the back.
They just didn't issue enough codes to meet demand as Pokemon Yellow was by far the most popular released
Is that really it? People going crazy for a digital game? Cant it be bought on the e-shop? I thought it was the.. colour! oO
yeh 8.99 on nintendo!! play these for hours when I was younger, was so addicted I downloaded green on pc (_;)

people are buying this for the console, not the game

Yeh I know, just letting CBK know its available to buy on Nintendo shop!!

Still in stock on plenty of websites as well as being restocked by nintendo, game and amazon in coming weeks. That 100+ on ebay wont last long, its only initial
The £100+ on ebay are selling to people in other countries that can't get stock; I've sold a few for £130+ so as long as there's restricted stock in the rest of Europe you should be ok.
Would you even make anything after shipping , ebay and paypal fees? Thought about it myself, but sdoesn't seem worth the risk either

If you sold it for £130 it brings in £112, post to the Ebay shipping center for a few quid and they do the rest.

All of mine were bought for around £74.99 plus got around 8% quidco on them so including quidco you would get about £40 from each one; Sell two and it means yours is effectively free (With a little bit of time and effort)

Thats not worth the time or effort unless you live in poverty.

It is.

Yes, it's officially announced now, it wasn't when I posted my comment.
Tescos in Middleton were selling them with a price point of £49.00 but at the till they're scanning in at £39.00.

They are out of stock on the Mario Kart 2DS's. They have signage up stating the Mario Kart is £49. But they too may scan at a lower price point.

They have scanners around the store so it's easy to check if there is a lower price point before you go to the till.
They had two on the shelf but they're now gone, whether they have any in the back remains to be seen.

Its as cheap as its gonna get. I think personally Mario golf offers better value but if its anything like the wii version it'll be a good game.

Picked one up in Telford store today, had plenty in stock! Pre installed Mario Kart 7 2DS purchased for £49... also had 3DS XL in a variety of colours for £69 (no game included)
My daughter aged 7 wants one after playing with her friends...can anyone advise which to get and how they work. Do you buy games seperately or are you connecting to wifi?
3 of these on shelf at Chesterfield extra this morning
Like others have said don't even bother checking shelves ask staff to bring them all out from store room to scan. I got 3ds xl with super mario built in, 2ds with Mario 2 built in and one without for £93.

I got 2 for £8 off amazon and 3 from tesco.

scalper alert!

I got a cheap fiat uno once.
I got this for £8, remember disliking this title when I played it back in 2001. Don't recall why, so did it on the 3ds and after a while remembered why it's my least favourite Zelda title.

I had to result to a guide a good few times as I just got lost. Bosses were boring, and lasted way longer than they should've (find tactic, repeat tactic 7 times, and move on).

I'm glad I got it for £8, I rushed the last 20%, didn't feel rewarded for my troubles and sold it on for £11 game credit profit.
That's great people got copies but again the majority didn't. Cheapest around atm.

15 stickers is tacky. And its a 2DS at the end of the day, a quite undesirable and very limited unit for playing 3DS games. Not impressed with the 2DS deals at all. I honestly would not pay £25 for such a limited unit, thats so far behind the 3DS XL systems.

In what way is it limited? 2D aside....

To be fair the 2DS probably isn't designed for you; Isn't it aimed at kids?
I'd say its a PC box ticker, re the non 3D option. Bit pointless as the 3DSon the superior consoles has a switch and parents can disable it via the parental settings anyway. Suppose it could also be seen as "cheaper" way to get into the console gaming.

can just see noahsdad in tesco looking at these shaking his head and muttering to himself "its just a dreadful unit, not impressed with these... not impressed at all"
maybe even pointing out his disappointment to total strangers walking past ..
That is possible, but only if I got into conversation with someone naturally, or saw them scratching their heads while looking at the options. Am not about to start patrolling the gaming aisles and tap on peoples shoulders :)
If your happy with 2DS (whatever the reasons) for your 3DS gaming fair enough really.

More sturdy, easier to hold and easier to use for younger kids.

Give up the right to an opinion and freedom of speech because you don't like what I am saying? No thanks Hitler.
I suspect people are saying what they are because you are commenting on every 2ds deal about your dismay and dislike for the 2ds as a console and people are aware of your stance on the situation.
Very true. I am being restrained and respectful that people like it however. Is no secret I think its a dreadful unit and have previously outlined in more detail why. I am not revisiting the core fundamentals and putting out 10 pages on it. I just like to put my 2 cents in so people can get a balanced view on purchase choices, the alternatives and decision making.
I post the same rehased stuff with other deals frequently. I.e. Pixel Electronics Wii U deals I say everytime is EURO, needs an adapter, check reviews of the seller, make sure your happy, no paypal option etc etc. Is not really any different? Don't think I am a nasty chap and ultimately trying to be helpful :)

Good find! Nice one for sharing the deal on here too, it may very well help someone.
Thank you! :) that was the idea, although seems like there's a lot of sour grapes voting it cold :/
So if one person gets a deal and only a handful of others may possibly get it too you expect people to be "sour" and vote cold?
If the deal is readily available to the masses then it will go hot, otherwise expect a deal to go cold.
how are we supposed to know if a deal is "available to the masses" if it doesn't get posted in the first place.
Where did I say dont post the deal?

Just dont expect the deal to go hot if its store specific and available to a handle of people.

Typical Nintendo strategy!!
Re hash & rerelease 30 year old titles.
Nice forward thinking from Ninty again!!
It is a real shame that Nintendo have a legacy that stretches back beyond the PS1/OG Xbox which they can call upon.
This is the first time these games have been re-released since they were released back in the 90's and are being released to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the the launch of the originals.
Pokemon is the third best selling video game franchise in history, getting it's first re-release to mark it's 20th anniversary, whilst Assassins Creed, Battlefield and COD get annualised releases and nobody bats an eyelid.

Not the first re-release, they released fire red and leaf green in 2004 which were updated versions.

Ah so tempted to get this. I use to play the crap out of Pokemon Blue when I was young so this should bring back some old memories lol
Such a shame Nintendo won't release these old remakes on iOS or Android. Nintendo is known for handheld gaming so mobile gaming will seriously make alot of profit as there are thousands of old loyal fans who would love this.
I'd buy an official Gameboy emulator/system on Android from them.
Would be awesome if they would do it but I doubt it.
Same here. Square Enix ported FFVII to iOS and it's selling for £11. Not sure why Nintendo can't see the potential it can get. I would pay around that mark if they ever port it over in iOS with trading compatibility.

Tempted to get. Will this be the same as the original or with some sort of update on the graphics?
From what I hear the graphics are the same as when they re-released it a 2nd time, basically Fire Red/Leaf Green etc graphics. Definitely won't original one as thats too outdated. But you're able to trade online now without those pesky link cables lol
original graphics, these are the original ganeboy games with local WiFi and trading added; that's it.

Yes 2DS is only about 2-3 yrs old, but its basically an old DS style console updated to be compatible with 3DS games. As spullot said in a roundabout sort of way, its nothing more the a 'PC box ticker'.
I have a feeling going on your post #15 you mistakenly thought the 2DS was an old console and now, instead of admitting your mistake, you seem to have a shovel and an increasingly large hole you are digging.
So what you're saying basically is the 2DS is an updated DS which can play 3DS games? Sounds a lot like what a 3DS is to me, except the 3DS and the DS share the same clam shell design making them even more similar. All the 2DS is is an aesthetically redesigned 3DS to make it more sturdy, as well as removing the, originally, awkward 3D effect.
I have posted about the 2DS in other threads if you want to look. I am no Shovel Knight :)
It is a rigid flat console, no 3D, no built in Amiibo support. Has been superceded with consoles with superior larger screen and improved battery chemistry. The controls and physical display are less flexible and less comfortable for the majority but those with a fondness for cheapness or blinkered thinking. 3DS XL's are going for not much more or even less £'s on occassion. It is also a fact that is has been superceded by at least 3 consoles now. Is arguably more as the original 3DS gen 1 supercedes the 2DS despite the 2DS coming along later. That should not even be possible, but thats the reality due the 2DS's limitations and overall poor design.
If you or others have a liking for the 2DS, whatever your reasons thats absolutely fine, but you can't deny the facts, or try and alter the facts to help you convince yourself your purchase or liking of the 2DS based on false and misinterpreted reasoning.
I have a New 3DS XL which is a better console, but comes at an extra £80+ premium. I also had the original 3DS XL which was good, but it was rare for me to use the 3D on it due to issues I've mentioned already. Other than the odd supermarket deal you would be lucky to find, you are talking an extra £20+ for an original model 3DS. Whether it is worth the 40%+ increase in price would be up to the individual.

As for the superseded part, generally that word is used to indicate something new came out that made the previous version obsolete hence the confusion with your post. I'd look at this more in the manner of buying a mobile, you have 5 versions with differing features and costs, but all of them do the basic function of playing the 3DS games (except Xenoblade). Figure out which functions you want and what you're willing to spend and go for that one. I don't personally think the 2DS is the awful option you're making it out to be and it has a place in the lineup.

DWWM
It's developed by WayForward Technologies. They've grown a decent reputation for themselves in recent years.
They recently did "Ducktales: Remastered" for consoles. And they've had positive reviews for their "Shantae" platformer games.
They even made a game based on the Alien franchise for Nintendo DS called "Aliens: Infestation". It's like old-school Metroid with action-adventure platforming and puzzling.
But I will admit that the budget price for Goosebumps is a bit of bad omen...
Be surprised if it's a bad game then! All those games you mentioned are top quality!

Just shows there is a direct correlation between perceived quality of game and HUKD heat voting. I can't argue MK64 is a quality game even if 18yrs old, but it got posted at RRP price and went pretty hot. This is a reduction on RRP price :p

Would be funny it someone posts it in a few weeks at about same price once its been reviewed, and it goes hot. Really not bothered, expect it to go cold and just sharing the info/deal, not buying myself for the record.

It's a point and click videogame. There aren't many reviews online but those that I've found are less than encouraging.

Might still be a worthwhile gift for kids that love Goosebumps?

Looks more like a RPG game than an action game to be. It is a culmination of a serious of previously released games on PC. All the games have been based on a series of books.

Maybe we shouldn't judge a book come video game by its cover? :)
